Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well done everyone on passing that's the hard part over, I'm currently in GV at the moment so any questions give me a message. I know the feeling of the wait but it will come as the last campaign was near two years and I know people from mine are still waiting. Good luck for the next stages

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Unknown117

I honestly could not tell you where I believe I will be positioned on the list. I want to say it isn’t a bad score but then also not an amazing one 😂 I’ll see in due course.

  • Registered Users Posts: 36 OldBenTheHermit

Im in the 2020 campaign and in the 700’s merit list spot, it’s good you guys are getting your merit list so soon after finishing them! We had to wait a year because of covid, it was agonising! The wait still isn’t over for some of us, I’ve been appointable since February and there’s no real sign of starting soon. It will come but just settle in for the long ride

Nope. Specialisms do not change your salary except dog handlers who get an allowance but this is to support and care for the dog.

Your salary increases as per the 7 point scale.

A response Constable with 5 years service has the same basic salary as a detective constable with the same length of service.

When will trial days for the PCA be available? I take it you are offered them once you have a confirmed PCA date?

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah, I believe it would be about a week before your actual PCA.

What's the chances they work till 6 and are currently sitting at their computer waiting to press send at 17.59? Or is that Just wishful?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 chickenlicken123

More like they are sitting at their desks reading this thread and laughing at our impatience haha

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

Has everyone got the ok for ‘right to work’ ?

    No, have you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Unknown117

don’t play with my head i’ve been refreshing my emails for ages 😂😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭Si_zx10r

No, I think if there was an issue you would have heard by now. They contacted the ones there wad issues with already so if you've heard nothing then you're probably all good 👍

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭Newsoph3

From my understanding of the last email with our scores.. Tomorrow we only receive word back about our right to work checks.. Then they send the merit list to the psni... I didnt think we get out merit list tomorrow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah I was thinking that too! I don’t think we’re getting our merit number at all for a small while I think tomorrow is an email just to confirm our right to work documents.

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭Newsoph3

Yeah from what I am reading Deloitte will send the list to the PSNI then inform us when it has been sent and the PSNI will contact us with our merit list and next stages.

I have thought that to ref the merit list on Friday, it’s only passed to PSNI at this stage. Can anyone from previous campaigns confirm if PSNI or Deloitte give you the merit list position?

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

I’m pretty sure the PSNI recruitment team email you to congratulate you etc and give you the Merit List number

  • Registered Users Posts: 250 ✭✭NeeNaw21

1710 and 1810 campaigns right to work checks were done at the AC at the start.

PSNI informed us of our ML position.

Myself and a handful of others from both campaigns were "fast tracked" so we progressed to PCA prior to AC results being released.

I got my ML number the same day as my PCA

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

No - just was beginning to get concerned. As I think it’s by close of play tomorrow. Though they usually have been in touch before the deadlines….

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

    Be grand - re results. I got an A - but I’m pretty sure A,B,C doesn’t make a difference - A pass is a pass I imagine….

Yeah so they’ll be in touch tomorrow though only to make us aware of our right to work and thst the merit list has been sent off to psni recruitment. We will then get an email from psni recruitment team to congratulate us so far and then give us our merit position followed by PCA

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 Hypomnesia

Well that’s depressed me now 😂 Wander how long it’ll take for PSNI to forward the merit list to us?

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Unknown117

will deloitte not inform us of our merit list position tomorrow, pass it to the PSNI then they will inform us of our next stages? that’s how i’ve understood but i could be terribly wrong!

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭reddriver

Only time will tell my friend haha! Hopefully we aren't left in limbo at the weekend... But at least we know we passed thats the main thing

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

That was always my perception, but going by the email it states they will communicate that the merit list has been passed over and that’s it.. I assume the email will basically mention the fact that they would be in touch with your merit list number at a later stage and also confirm your approval for right to work docs..

i have been told by a friend that the PSNI team congratulate you via email with your merit number. This could obviously be different now but that’s how it was in 17’

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭Si_zx10r

I read it again and they actually advise that its not confirmed yet when merit list will be passed to psni, tomorrow is just to confirm our right to work thing lol that's not to say it won't be passed across tomorrow but wouldn't build hopes on getting merit number

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah the 7th paragraph from the top mentions this. It’ll be a later stage when the psni team contact us we’ll get the merit list..

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

Great job ! We will get there yet,,..

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

Just got email confirming right to work. They are passing the ML to the PSNI next week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Unknown117

Interesting read that, glad of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah merit list next week.. knew it was just a confirmation

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 Hypomnesia

So possibly another 2 weeks before we'll know our merit ranking?

Deloitte will pass it to PSNI by the end of next week, then guessing the following week PSNI will make contact with us?

Still it's great reasurrance to know you are now 100% on the merit list :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah it could be the following week we will receive it. Depends on when they send it over to recruitment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 42 rouge_one

Be intresting to know if anyone actually fails the right to work part. Surely if you have applied you kind of already know if you are eligible. Same with the substance misuse stage of the campaign?

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

You’d be surprised haha! People can fail at any stage. I was suspecting people not uploading it on time

  • Registered Users Posts: 138 ✭✭Blueandtwo1320

Seeing as some folk are interested in the merit list positions, I thought I would share some interesting merit list figures from the 2018 campaign.

    Grade A* = 2 candidates.

    Grade A = 103 candidates.

    Grade B = 354 candidates.

    Grade C = 620 candidates.

For some reason that gives 1079 merit list number but the join psni website states 1053 for 2018 campaign, but close enough to give you an idea.

Edit* Further to this, 252 candidates were fast tracked before the results were issued. So high grade B and upwards would have achieved the fast track in that campaign.

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭Si_zx10r

Thanks for that, just goes to show how strict the scoring system is. Well done to all the A and B scorers, smart @rses 🤣🤣 jokes. I wonder if pca's will begin before July time. Imagine we will get vetting forms next which will take us into the middle of June at least and then once they receive those then pca's will be arranged

I used to think it looked pretty easy getting an officer role. But between the assessments and the amount of patience you need, I have alot of respect for anyone who’s went through this process. And that’s not even talking about GV

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

We’re in for a long wait. I’m genuinely crapping myself about GV..

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭reddriver

Try not to worry about GV And just enjoy and make the most of the experience! I've previously been in the forces And absolutely loved my phase training. It was hectic but such an experience. I'm sure when you get in there will be people around to help you achieve what you need to. Everyone will be looking out for each other I'm sure

  • Registered Users Posts: 229 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Not the stories I’ve heard about GV. People try shafting you, “clicks” etc

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

What happens with vetting does anyone know? I think I’ve had far out family members that perhaps were involved in things they shouldn’t have been many moons ago…unfortunate thing of being from Northern Ireland - obviously this is nothing to do with me but does this raise a red flag? :/

  • Registered Users Posts: 250 ✭✭NeeNaw21

Garnerville is nothing to be afraid of.

Just play the game and get out the otherside. Trust me the grass is greener once you land in station.

Garnerville is a means to an end and it goes by quick.

Remember that the Police is the public sector and the public sector is slow. Nothing moves rapidly.

Don't put your life on hold in anticipation for recruitment events or a start date.

Go on that holiday, take the promotion. When it comes to starting you can defer. They understand that you are all people and have lives.

Some people have insane notice periods for their current employment. And just not rocking up one day may work for a single pringle not practical if you have a family and bills.

Always haply to help fire me a PM if you've any questions. On the proviso that I can only give a candidate, a student officer and a young in service constable's perspective on things

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 Hypomnesia

No, won’t be an issue. Things like that are out of your control and the vetters understand that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭crazyfire999

That’s good. I know someone that didn’t get a job with the army because of far out family activity during the troubles. The laugh is, he only found out about it when they told him. I know the army is the army but I imagine the PSNI isn’t far behind them when it comes to security and checks re the vulnerability of data that might be shared with officers.

The inner joke about vetting is they know more about your life than you do😂

I’d be very very surprised if they failed you to be honest. Just be 100% truthful on the forms and have no misleading information.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 Hypomnesia

I’m near sure the police are on par with military regarding clearance. Think it just depends on level of clearance that makes the difference in how advanced the checks are

  • Registered Users Posts: 130 ✭✭lornzeo99

You can’t help who your family are. It’s more who you actually associate with

  • Registered Users Posts: 147 ✭✭Narwahls

I think with vetting it all comes down to honesty around issues like that, what you knew of those particular issues and what influence they may have over you or lack of. I've gone through the vetting section of this forum and the general consensus seems to be people fail more for not disclosing rather than the issues themselves

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Unknown117

Right what do we think will be happening this week then ladies and gents? I hope they pass the list this week and when they do they let us know our number and that it has been passed across. But I could be to hopeful 😂
