Shooting and Field Sports Car Boot Sale. Sunday 22nd May.

We all love our sports and we all love acquiring the equipment to help us improve our performance. It is part of the pleasure. We try things out, use them if they work for us or put them away in a cupboard and try something else. Well, those cupboards get full and need to be emptied to make room for more accessories. New people are entering our sports at an accelerating pace and these people would love to get starting kit at good price. A perfect match of availability and need. This has encouraged us to try out a “Car Boot Sale” at our range in Roundwood on Sunday 22nd May, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. This sale is open to all people who take part in the Shooting or Field sports including Archery. Club members and friends do not need to book a spot. Non club members should contact us at ecscdiamond@gmail.com to let us know they are coming. We have no idea how popular this event will be so we would appreciate you contacting us.

Format is typical car boot. Open your car boots ,or use a table, or put stuff on a groundsheet. It is up to you. Examples of what to bring include, clothes, boots, cleaning kits, scopes and mounts, bench rest bags, bows, slings, gun slips, stock polishing kits, shooting mats, jackets, gloves, spotting scopes and binoculars. No firearms or ammunition can be included for obvious reasons.

    Great idea.

Would love to go, but it is just too far to travel for me.

Best of luck with the event

The response so far has been very good and we are starting to think that we may need some special organisation to handle the numbers. Sunday is our main range day and shooting on the Shotgun, Rifle and Pistol ranges will continue as usual. If any one reading this , had thought about joining a club, then please come along to the sale. You can buy or sell at the car boot sale and we will be showing people our facilities and what the range looks like on a normal day of operation.

Would it not make sense to include photos of, firearms for sale?

Clearly any one can bring photos of whatever they want to sell, or exchange, as long as they fall within the original remit. How you get people to look at them is another matter.

Tell them it will be in a gun dealer suitable to both that can then be looked at in the wood and metal?

    OR

At the next event, ask E coast, if they have storage facilities to possibly safe store the guns for sale on the day for a fee?

Either way, nice to see this happening and be hopefully copied by other cluvbs.

ECSC does not have storage facilities for anything. The sale is only for accessories.

We are all set for next Sunday. Interest is high and I just hope we do not run out of space. The main thing outside of our control is the weather.

Would it not make sense to include photos of good weather?

    😀

    See you on Sunday

Excitement is building. The above pics show some examples of what one attendee was bringing to sell or trade.

Final Update-- Car boot sale tomorrow 22nd May.

Weather looks good up to 13:30 when showers may occur. Come early, shop early. A flavour of some of the other items and oddities which will be on offer for sale or trade.

After Action Report Car Boot Sale today at ECSC.

The weather stayed fine. The overall attendance was acceptable at just under a 100 made up of club members, visiting guests of members and people who just came for the sale. One group came from Sligo. I did note the attendance of shooters who lived in the locality and their interest is especially recognised. I sold and bought nearly equal amounts, which is what this type of event is about. In essence, I exchanged items I no longer use for items of more interest. We will run it again, maybe in September. Following pics give a flavour of the day. My thanks to all who supported the event, especially the ECSC members who did the marshalling.
