    Hi Folks,

    For years I've been using the Aurora 7. I enjoyed it but I'm tired of buying pre builds. I'm happy swapping out ram and changing PSU/Fans so I feel now is the time to build my own rig.

    I am a gamer but really this will be used for music production and some basic video editing. I've stuck to DDR4 rather than going for a MB with DDR5 as I felt it was a bit too pricey currently. While I do play games, apex legends mostly, I'm not someone who needs 1080p and 200 fps. I've chosen a gpu but feel free to suggest a cheaper model if that seems overkill. I'd happily pump more into the CPU rather than the graphics. I'm going between pcpartpicker and overclockers where I will probably buy most stuff, but I'll do a price check elsewhere too.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    NR600P case seems perfect for this type of build. Roomy, hot swap bays up front, SD card reader, USB-C. nvm pricing error. I'd recommend maybe Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 for a big-tower.

    You want to put more money into the CPU than GPU - feel free to downgrade to RTX 3060 / 3060 Ti.

    I prefer Arctic AIOs as they have better, quieter fans & less cables to install.

    Not trolling and i did put my point bluntly but the expense and the fiddliness for a user who from the OP is not going to be doing crazy overclocking, i contend is not worth it. That probably does reflect a bias on my part to more tried and trusted methods and an aversion to paying full price for new stuff when there is minimal gains over previous generation components.

    For example most recent pc build is centred around amd 3100 and b450 and an old r7 260x

    The Arctic Liquid Freezer II are easier to install than an air cooler, and I've had plenty (Noctua NH-U14S, SilentiumPC Fortis 3, AMD Wraith Spire & Prism, Arctic A13, Scythe Fuma 2).

    I don't have crazy overclocks either. I just prefer having quiet, and using the radiator as a buffer means less fan noise escapes the case.

    The B660 is a mistake. The gamer's chipset of choice is the Z690. If you're not going to put yourself thru the overclocking headache drop the water cooler and replace the 3600 ram with 3200's. Videos editing requires sustained read & write, so with the PRO SSD or the SN850 black. It seems you're going to break the bank on this one? Have you considered an AMD build? It's just my personal preference: Intel's process has been trailing and to compensate they add "ecores" xD...
