Rangers absolutely battered Braga tonight, even when when they had 11 men. It’s an amazing achievement to see Rangers back in another European semi final. Great profile for the Scottish game. Hopefully Rangers West Ham final!

Had half an eye on the Rangers game. It was a nice volley by Angelino to get the win. Nkunku missed a good chance after taking it around the keeper.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,093 ✭✭✭Brewster

Not a good night for the British teams, Rangers will be disappointed to lose a goal so late. I think Rangers will throw kitchen sink at them at Ibrox but will be vulnerable to the counter attack. I think West Ham will also find it tough. Certainly an all German final on the cards….

I don't know why the referee needed to be told by VAR to take another look at that blatant foul and upgrade it from a yellow to a red for West Ham's Cresswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Rangers now 2-1 up on aggregate. It's been a great start to the game, fairly end-to-end. Interesting to see what Rangers go about this now that they are in front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

And now West Ham are 1-0 down. Nicely worked by Frankfurt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Aribo swings a boot at it and turns it over from a few yard's out when it seemed easier to score. Rangers not letting up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

David Moyes has been sent off. Classless, really. It appears he asked for the ball from one of the ball boys and when he didn't get it as he wished or maybe in a timely manner for his liking, he kicked it back at him. He can't complain, but he has been complaining all game.

And Frankfurt have been at the gamesmanship all game. Antonio has someone hanging off him every set piece. Referee only warns him and then booked him. He should be booking both or neither. He's failing to do his job.

Kostic hauled down Bowen deliberately and wasn't booked, and then stood a yard in front of where he was supposed to and referee waved it on.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Ref should've stopped the game in the first half too when the Frankfurt fans were pelting West ham players with beer cups

Fair play to Rangers, incredible stuff!

Fair play to Rangers a well deserved win to reach the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,043 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

To be fair, Rangers deserved that tonight. Better team.

    RBL disappointing.

Well done Rangers. They were on the ropes at 2-2 but rallied late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Rangers have to thank all the people who did the draws, because they got the easiest team possible or close to in each time. Hopefully they lose in the final.

The red card spoiled the West Ham game, though Frankfurt have been the best team in the competition.

Didn't think Rangers would get past Leipzig. Some achievement.

Bit ott for Frankfurt to allow the fans to come from the terrace to the hoardings before the final whistle and then onto the pitch at the final whistle.

It was great to see the celebrations though.

Antonio is the kind of player who is constantly being dragged out of but because of his size, never gets any protection from referees.

It's quite funny how it's all praise for Frankfurt fans, if an English side's fans invaded the pitch like that, it'd be all over the news about typical English hooligans (not to mention the missiles in the first half and the several attacks on West Ham fans both in Frankfurt and in Seville when both teams were playing there).

Utterly braindead by Cresswell. Just let him go and hope for the best. I'd rather need two goals with 11 men than face 75 minutes with 10 men while needing at least one goal.

    Was fun while it lasted.

Rangers one game away from joining Celtic back in the Champions league group stages. Unreal.

Great result for Rangers....didn't see that coming. Would it be good for Scottish football if they went onto win it?

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

They beat dortmund and Leipzig. There were not many teams drawers tougher than those they couldve got

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,043 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Watched most of the Rangers game. They fully deserved their victory.

RBL very disappointing. Kinda shows that the general standard of football Europe wide, outside of the top elite clubs, is all very much of a muchness.

Leipzig were limited to very few opportunities over the two legs. On paper they have the better players than Rangers, but they didn’t show this enough over two games. No doubt Rangers deserve to be in the final on merit. They beat two of the better teams in Germany on their way to final, with Leipzig also being a recent CL semi finalist. Will be a good final hopefully. Much better spectacle than an all German final.

Was that after the game? Rice did seem frustrated towards the end of the game alright. May get a ban if we get into Europe next year.

Referee's performance was quite puzzling at times. As mentioned, Antonio was getting manhandled every time the ball came into the box but he was the only one warned. Benrahma was barged into by at least 3 Frankfurt players after one of their players voluntarily left the field and he rightly played on, yet Benrahma got a yellow along with only one Frankfurt player. Not enough to warrant the response from Rice but enough to make a frustrating night that bit more frustrating.

    Teams for the final:

Some clashes between the fans already in Seville. Hope it doesn't get ugly after the game.

Rangers probably won't get a better chance of a European trophy for a generation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Hopefully Frankfurt win this final and win it well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Is Brian Kerr a rangers man as Tommy codded him with? Brian retorted just cos I’ve a Scottish name? Jim Kerr from Simple Minds was a Celtic man.

    Anyway, up Frankfurt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

    That was an awful "tackle".

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

That’s a red card. Dangerous play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

VAR, I bet hasn't got the bottle to give a red card for that.

Not even a booking for that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭tanko

Gerry Armstrong reckons it was accidental, clueless as ever. If that’s not a red card what is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,742 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

    Ye definitely red that !

That was a farce. Not even a yellow, probably because if they gave a card, it could only be one colour. The ref probably didn't want to spoil the game so early, but that was a red all day long.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Wasn’t a red for me. Yellow for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

studs up chest high regardless of if Rode dipped or not. Baffling not to be carded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 666 ✭✭✭Prisoner6409

WTF has happened to referring, since VAR they have got worse, how does a player with his foot so high not even get a yellow. I thought Nirvana in referring was consistency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,857 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

His Dad was a Belfast man, not sure which 'side'...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,168 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

If Knauff had gone for the other side of the goal, McGregor would have had no chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭trashcan

Yep, his dad very involved in boxing in Belfast. I think the fact that he moved down here would indicate which side he was from. Brian didn’t seem too impressed to be accused of being a Rangers man anyway 😄

Rangers will be doing very well to keep it scoreless till ht.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Too many fouls going unpunished with cards. Someone will cross the line

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,612 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

This ref is scared stiff to show a card. Should be a red and yellow to rangers, easily
