This week, as we gather for what the Python's imaginatively titled the Penultimate Supper, our resident leviathan of sporting knowledge turns his furrowed and overly hirsute brow to the belated centenary of the Football Association of Ireland (est. 1921).

Although said organisation is latterly known for feathering the nests of two generations of Delaneys, a host of fading managerial talents, and winning every match nil all, it is nonetheless a proud association with a long history. No doubt its reputation will travel the road to Castle Montrosia ahead of it, as a certain Healy (Rae) might have put it. To mark the occasion, our portly and poetic president, a keen soccer fan himself will be calling in to ramble for a bit.

Some of Jackie's Army will also mobilise, including Packie, Paul McGrath, Dave O'Leary & Shay Given-so, plenty of nostalgia, and if Hobbidy has the good grace to leave alcoholism and dementia out of it, possibly even enjoyable.

"President Michael D Higgins and football legends such as Paul McGrath, Niall Quinn and David O'Leary will be among the guests as this week's Late Late Show celebrates the centenary of the Football Association of Ireland.

President Higgins will be live in-studio to speak with Ryan about his passion project, his Machnamh 100 series of seminars on the War of Independence and Civil War, his decade as president of Ireland and his love of football."

Music by David Gray, who must have sold more copies of White Ladder than there were CD players in Ireland, as well as Dan McCabe

"Plus, there will be music from singer-songwriter David Gray, who will perform This Year's Love, and Dan McCabe will sing Fields of Athenry."
