Do you have anything other than smart Alec remarks to counter with?

Here’s a head scratcher for you. What did Paul Manafort go to prison for?

    they/them/theirs

Well Hilary Clintons lawyer just testified in court that the knew the accusations weren’t true but decided to share them with their media pals anyway.

A bigger head scratcher is how you can devote so much time and energy to disliking Donald Trump and be so clouded by your cognitive dissonance that you don’t know the basic facts.

Not a single American has been charged with “collusion”. Any charges that came out of the Mueller investigation were financial or tax related. Nothing to do with Russia or collusion.

What statute should they have been charged under?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,644 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

You think people don't like Trump because of Russia collusion?

The head scratcher is, after 4 years of him failing as POTUS, 6 years of constant lying, 2 years of trying to dismantle US democracy, why you would devote and time or energy to defending him?

What is it that attracts you to him?

I haven't defended anyone. I simply pointed out that Russiagate and Alfa Bank are debunked conspiracy theories perpetuated by people who claim to be most concerned about online disinformation when they are the ones who spread it most relentlessly.

As for 4 year as failing as POTUS, what exactly where the policies you think he failed on? What do you think were his most damaging policies while in office?

I'm not conducting an investigation into a debunked conspiracy theory so how would I know?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 21,318 Mod ✭✭✭✭Brian?

How much time and energy do you think I devote to disliking Trump? It's really not a lot. You don't know what cognitive dissonance means, that's pretty clear.

What was Paul Manafort sent to prison for?

What don't you look it up yourself but what we can definitely say is that it wasn't for "collusion".

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 21,318 Mod ✭✭✭✭Brian?

As far as I'm aware you can't be sent to prison for "collusion", because the crime of "collusion" doesn't exist.

Manafort was caught taking money from Russian government and Russian government agents. Is that not colluding?

    they/them/theirs

Paul Manafort was sent to Prison for "Financial issues" just like Al Capone got sent to prison for "taxes".

The crime they got done for was the expedient charge that enabled a conviction, but everybody knows where the money involved actually came from.

Wrong on both counts. Manafort was convicted on completely unrelated financial crimes. During his trial, the special counsel was at pains to point out that "He is not before the court for anything having to do with colluding with the Russian government to influence the election,"

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,710 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Trump's campaign manager no less iirc, said he would work for free again if memory serves.

Caught sharing polling data with the Russians too?

Then there was the meeting in trump tower.

Then there was trump asking Russia to help find Hillary's emails.

Mueller found that Trump welcomed and benefited from help from Russia. But hey, Bill Barr said no collusion so that's good enough for some apparently

His tax plan was a failure. He didn't even have a medical plan. He did nothing about education, inequality, immigration, infrastructure....in fact he didn't have any policies. Rather than listing off all his failures, including of course his failure to 'drain the swamp', this is nothing for anyone to point to and say that that was his achievement.

What is clear is that he was a total liar, surrounded himself by criminals and those happy to bend and break the law for their own ends. He pardoned those that that committed crimes merely because they supported him. And to top all that off, he lead a movement attacking US Democracy which led directly to the insurrection of Jan 6th.

Had he been more upfront about this links to Russia then the accusations would have disappeared quickly. But he lied, he refused to talk to the investigators, he removed those in a position to query him. It was his own carry on that gave the story legs. When he so openly lied about Stormy Daniels, lied about his business interests, removed anyone that even questioned him, then that makes him look very suspicious.

There are investigations undertaken every day that lead nowhere. But they are perfectly reasonable investigations to undertake given the supspicions surrounding an individual.

How are those policies any worse or different to prior administrations? How would you say the current administration is performing, better or worse than the previous one?

He may have been a liar and all have all those personality traits you don't like but that reminds me of most politicians.

As for the "insurrection", the same number of Americans have been charged with the crime of insurrection/ treason as the number or Americans that were charged with Russian collusion. Zero.

Straight into whataboutery. So you have nothing

He may be a liar but!! Good grief. Well if all of them are the same then why would people investigating him make any difference. It doesn't remind you of most politicians. Obama was nothing like it. Biden isn't. In fact, the reason may Trump supporters state as to why they support him is that he isn't like other politicians. So which is it? If you accept that he lies, why would you think that he had nothing to do with Russia. There is a big difference between not guilty and innocent. Put on top of that the entire system is there to protect him, and he used every bit of it, including the unquestioning support of the GOP which looked to block the investigation at every turn.

They are even doing it now, looking to delay and disrupt the investigation in the insurrection itself, the biggest open threat to US democracy in may years, on the basis of it being their man.

"insurrection'. What is what the ""? It happened. It was on TV. They have been multiple people charged over it. In fact, far more people have been charged, and pleaded guilty, than all the cases Trump has won over the election fraud.

You do realise that you are perpetuating a debunked conspiracy?

The reason I don't suspect he was blackmailed by Russia is because there was an investigation by the FBI and they found nothing. So if you have information that Robert Mueller and the FBI don't please tell us. Otherwise you are spreading disinformation.

By the same account, do you think that Joe Biden should be investigated for his links to China and Ukraine that came out of the Hunter Biden laptop? After all, what has he got to hide, why would he obstruct and investigation? Why would Burisma pay his son $50,000 per month when he has no experience in that industry (leaving his personal problems aside)? Surely you believe that to be a legitimate question warranting an investigation?

As for the so called "insurrection", you continue to spread misinformation. The convictions you are referring to are either trespassing or some other misdemeanour, nothing to do with treason or insurrection.

Please stop spreading inaccurate and misleading misinformation.

You seemed to have inside knowledge on what the fbi found and didn't find. Can you share the report that is the source of this knowledge?

Oooo, a Trump Apologist! Gather round everyone while we are roundly convinced by them that Trump was an honest All-American businessman who selflessly saved the US from the abyss of ruin by virtue of his iron-clad work ethic and his hiring of "all the best people" in his cabinet.

And that he is not at all a self-centered sociopathic narcissist who pissed away the fortune he inherited, encouraged racist anger to win his nomination, intentionally undermined the democratic process to cast shade on any result against him, permanently separated young children from their families to please racists, called actual Nazies "very fine people", spent his time in the White House doing sweet f**k all while watching cable & eating junk food, turned health measures into a front-line in culture conflict by refusing to wear a mask & fronting untested medicines, and then..... finished off his term by goading a group of angry d**kheads to actually attack the nation's capital.

But yes...let us hear how Trump and the GOP are actually wonderful. (Gets popcorn)

Super sound bite, but Mueller did find the welcoming and benefiting part, which means collusion to every right thinking individual out there.

What's ironic is, this is actually a fairly quiet thread. The #2xIMPOTUS is just pathetic at this point. His cultists occasionally show up, spout some nonsense usually about Biden, then disappear or reincarnate sometime later. But, really, when it comes to the #2xIMPOTUS he's like an old washed up comedian running the same shtick.

I'm not perpetrating anything. Merely pointing out the rationale for the investigation in the first place and pointing out the lengths that Trump and his DOJ went to stall, undermine and usurp that investigation. Not to mention the defence of the GOP, many admitted that they didn't even need evidence!

Wait. You don't think he did anything because the FBI didn't find him, yet you believe that all politicians are liars and cheats? Based on what?

Do I think Biden should be investigated? Sure, if there are strong allegations and the evidence suggest something is am miss then go ahead. Remembering that Trump himself said he would accept intel from Russia on his opponent if it could help him win and he asked Russia to release hacked information to help him against HC? Has Biden done something similar?

It isn't so called anything. It was an insurrection. They tried to overturn the legitimate democratic wish of the American people. Cheered on my Trump. And rather than look to quell the insurrection, Trump continues with the lie that the election was stolen.

Trump is a direct threat to democracy in the US. He is a liar. And he failed as POTUS. Not one positive thing can ever be said about him. I asked you for policies and you went off about others. Trump had four years to make a positive difference. Instead he opted to look after himself, waste time playing golf, lying and pretending to know stuff when he didn't have a clue.

You wouldn't accept that level of no performance for a member of your staff, why should you accept it from POTUS?

The only "policy" that Trump (or whoever told him about it) sort of got right was China.

He correctly identified that China was a threat and that the policy of hoping that increased access to the free market etc. would ultimately lead to China moving to a more democratic form of government was a flawed one.

Now - He made a complete and absolute balls of his attempts to do anything about it , his moronic idea that "China is paying tariffs" was just that and much else of what he did was equally ineffective and direct/indirectly damaging to the US.

But he was right that passively waiting for China to have come kind of damascene conversion to Democracy because locals could buy Gucci was never a good idea.

Nazis??? Sure you're not referring to the Azov brigade, the actual real life Nazis who just received billions in funding and weapons from U.S. or are you referring the other type of Nazis i.e. people who don't agree with you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,539 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Effendi, he's referring to the Charleston march. Did you not understand this? As for Azov battalion, can I guess you've been booted from the Russia thread (probably under another alias?)

    Cool..

Going for the full house here

    We've had

    "Russia was a hoax"

    "Alleged Insurrection"

And now we have the Putinista guff of "Ukraine is full of Nazis"

Any other 4Chan birthed bollocks you'd like to regale us with?

Surely you've got something about the Great Replacement or murdering babies you could throw in??

I don't think I used any of those terms but go ahead and put words in my mouth.

Everything I said was a statement of fact i.e.

Russiagate is a debunked conspiracy theory.

No American has been convicted of Russian collusion or insurrection/treason in relation to the 2016 Presidential election and Jan 6.

Whatever your views on Ukraine, the war and the US role: it's just amazing that the Western media - which spent a full decade in unison calling the Azov Battalion neo-Nazis now speak of them in admiring terms and will only say that their Nazism is a "Russian claim."

This is from the NYT 2015:

Always start off discrete, and then devolves into the full "cool aid" diatribe.

You see, EVERYONE ELSE is wrong, it's "Mr 30,000 plus lies" who is telling the truth! D'uh!
