    Next weeks fixtures:

Football - Cork v Limerick (Neutral)

Hurling - Cork v Antrim (away)

Kind draw for the footballers, decent chance we’ll be in QFs in both codes somehow

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

We should be beating Limerick. If we get to QF we won't be doing too bad in Football.

Does anyone know if the draw for the semi finals are pre-defined or does it depend on who gets through the earlier rounds?

I'm not for a second presuming Cork will get that far, but am I right in saying that if Cork and Clare both get through, then it'll be Cork v Limerick and Clare v Kilkenny in the semis?

And if it's Cork and Wexford both going through, then it'll be the opposite to avoid repeat pairings, so Kilkenny v Cork and Limerick v Wexford?

In the football qualifiers, Cork will be playing Limerick in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday at 1.30. It will be on RTE

Cork and Limerick have a home and away agreement in case you are wondering!

The All Ireland Minor FC Quarter Final between Cork and Derry will take place in Portlaoise on Saturday at 6:00

Yeah looks right. Repeat of provincial finals will be avoided as far as I know

Decent bit of needle in the Comortas Peile final, lads certainly not there for the piss up. Beal Atha lead 1-6 to 0-5 after 25 min

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

bit of a bad patch for Beal Atha for the 10 or 15 min after half time but finish well to win for the 1st time, 2-10 to 0-11

I have no fears of Limerick, but they'll see us as beatable as well. A huge improvement is needed from what we saw against Louth. If we get to the quarter finals, then it will have been a decent enough year.

I think if we beat Antrim and Galway, then it's Limerick in the semi finals.

Any one know if the Cork/Antrim game is going to be live streamed by any network?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Not confirmed yet but will probably be on GAAGO

Think Hurley had potential to be a great footballer but the injuries prevented it. Still handy on his day but can get marked out if it against the better teams .

Cork are really slack in the forwards. You’d need 2/3 better forwards plus a midfielder to consistently start making quarter and semi finals, rather than hoping for easy draws.

That said, I don’t think the tactics help the forwards. Slow build up, make sure to keep the ball and work out the wings before recycling backwards if nothing is on, which is often the case because the opposition are all back. Rare to see shots taken on from open play outside 30 meters and only a couple of players seem to want to take on shots.

I'm very sad to hear that Seamus Looney has passed away. Seamus of course played at midfield on our 1970 all Ireland winning team.

Cork Hurling team has been announced. Tim O'Mahony replaces Patrick Horgan.

Patrick Horgan has started every championship game since the last meeting with Antrim in 2010!!

good to see us name a strong team, would perhaps given Harnedy a rest as well as Horgan

Like the look of that team. Hoggie dropped is no big surpirse. I would expect us to win and be playing again next weekend. Hopefully we start well, get a good lead and allow the subs get some good game time.

Pretty nice looking jersey in fairness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

First 22 mins gone and Cork up by only a point

Really sloppy from Cork all over.lot of misses and very lethargic looking

  • Registered Users Posts: 154 ✭✭magic17

The one thing I'd have wanted from today was a good defensive display. Don't concede any goals. 2 goals conceded in 20+ mins against Antrim is just not good enough. Should still win this with a few to spare but it doesn't bode well really does it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Loads of Cork players walking around and no urgency being shown. Very disappointing so far. Dismal stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

We can safely say that Cork won't go any further in the championship if we get over today. Typical Cork any team can beat them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Got to be one of the worst halves ever from a Cork team. Should be way behind and not just one point.

An upset is on the cards here unless we get going. Too many at walking pace and not enough energy being shown. loose marking everywhere. I can't understand this. Lose and we are knocked out. Its not back next week for another go.

Dismal stuff. Time to fix it but this is atrocious

Poor but winning by 6 now.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,883 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Won by 11.

Before the game, we would be happy enough with that.

However, they were shocking in reality for long periods.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

One of those games where you are happy to just get out with the win but we made hard work of it.

I expected us to start strong but we at least got going late in the second half. Cahalane did ok when he came on and Lehane was great again. We had to rely on out big guns to get us out of jail though.

Big improvement needed for Galway now

We won that's the main thing, but conceding 2-19 to Antrim is bit of a concern alright. What we saw today just won't cut the mustard against Galway next week. A huge improvement will be required or else it's curtains for the year.
