    The lack of awareness of pedestrians and how overly reliable they are on their ears instead of their eyes is shocking. That's just people crossing the road. Then you've the real idiots who think cycle lanes are footpaths. I've had many a scare cycling around Dublin. There's going to be a lot of pedestrian deaths in the future with silent electric cars.

    Joe wrong about the invention of the car bomb too, must be mixing it up with that cocktail he spent nearly 2 full shows on...

    Prior to the 20th century, bombs planted in horse carts had been used in assassination plots, notably in the unsuccessful "machine infernale" attempt to kill Napoleon on 24 December 1800.


    The first car bomb may have been the one used for the assassination attempt on Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II in 1905 in Istanbul by Armenian separatists, in the command of Papken Siuni belonging to the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.


    Car bombing was a significant part of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) campaign during The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Dáithí Ó Conaill is credited with introducing the car bomb to Northern Ireland.[14] Car bombs were also used by Ulster loyalist groups (for example, by the UVF during the Dublin and Monaghan bombings).[15][16][17]


    PIRA Chief of Staff Seán Mac Stíofáin defines the car bomb as both a tactical and a strategic guerrilla weapon. Strategically, it disrupts the ability of the enemy government to administer the country, and hits simultaneously at the core of its economic structure by means of massive destruction. From a tactical point of view, it ties down a large number of security forces and troops around the main urban areas of the region in conflict.[18]

    I'm convinced the man would argue with his shadow and if that wasn't available, he'd argue with himself.

    Very , very telling that final request re the nursing home , I suspect something serious has happened or he was Told by someone senior in RTE to say something.

    It wouldn't take a Genius or nut job long to find out were rose dugdale is , despite her age. Some understandable bitterness still evident, some extreme elements on both sides haven't gone away unfortunately.
