Without needing eircodes or precise address, I was wondering where regular contributors are based?

Perhaps if there's a few people in Dublin, we might organise a social evening later in the summer.

I'm in Malta but I'll be home in South Armagh for 6 weeks in July and August.

So it does seem like Dublin would suit a few people.

    Would you like a meetup?

A meet-up in Dublin sounds good.

Sure, I've always thought it would be nice to put faces to usernames. Lunch and/or coffee during the day in the city centre would suit me better but yes, absolutely, I'm up for it.

A daytime meet-up would appeal to me too.

Thursday is the best day for me. Apart from 21st July, I can rearrange my schedule to be in town any of those: 7th, 14th or 28th.

I'd love a meet up! I've been into genealogy since the mid 80s when I was in my early 20s. I remember going into the Public Record Office to see the 1901 census. My grandfather who was still alive at the time, was amazed at what I found out about his own grandfather.

I'm sensing Dublin and a daytime meet?

What about meeting up in a "Genealogy" location? Could be somewhere like the Public Record Office or could be somewhere commercial, like the Ancestry offices on the quays - they might like to put up tea/coffee and a few nibbles. Could be somewhere like Glasnevin Cemetery or Mount Jerome - combine the meet with an outdoor tour? Pearse Street Library...

That sounds good BowWow - at least the location would be somewhere familiar to us all.

The 14th or 28th works for me. Say when and where and I'm there.

@BowWow the Public Records Office?! This genealogy tour brings the group back in time to 1922, where they visit the records office during the Civil War and try to avert a national disaster! 😂

I do like the idea of a cemetery tour. Glasnevin has a nice café too.

Their tours cost €13 p/p or €18 to include inside the O'Connell tower. There are senior/student rates too.

11:30 or 14:30 each day with online booking here:

How about 14:30 on Thursday 14th July? Anyone who wants to come can book themselves on.

Afterwards we can have a coffee & chat in the cafe.

Perhaps an earlier meet-up time so as those of us coming from outside Dublin can get away before rush hour?

Ah, I was thinking the 11:30 was too early from the other rush hour perspective!

We could meet at 13:00 (ish) in the coffee shop for lunch and then do the tour?

I can't add another poll on to the thread but please comment which you prefer and we'll go with the majority. I'm happy either way.

    11:30 tour plus lunch after

    or

    13:00 meetup/lunch followed by 14:30 tour

Half eleven then lunch is better for me, thanks. I've never done the tour so I'd enjoy that.

Anyone else tried booking yet online? I've just tried to do so, the 11.30 tour on the 14th, and both Debit and Credit card were declined. I just tested both cards by buying a handful of credits on GRONI and Scotlands People and they are both working just fine. <shrugs>

I just tried and had the same problem. Also with 2 different cards. I'm going to mail Lynn and tell her about it.

Got a response suggesting I ring reception to book, but they have reported it to their IT. 🙄

I clicked Book Ticket, selected One Adult, a Date and Time, then Add To Cart, and then nothing happened.

I did this several times until I noticed the trolley icon in the top right corner of the screen with the number five next to it.

That's when it dawned on me to click on the trolley icon in order proceed to the check out and pay for my ticket.
