A war that their own side started in 2014 (largely provoked by their favourite dictator). Things were relatively peaceful until he started encouraging and aiding pro-Russian fascism and nationalism in the region (not entirely dissimilar to what happened in the Sudetenland in 1937-38).

God Almighty, what a load of BS. For a start much of it is made up of easily disproven LIES.

Putin is no saint? No sh1t! A perfect example of praising with faint damn -to invert the usual expression. By any metric Putin is immeasurably worse than Zelensky.

We know that Ukraine has many problems; it does have a bad corruption problem. It has political problems. It has a problem with far-right extremism. This is what I'd like to know. How are the problems of corruption solved by an invasion by another country which has a corruption problem many, MANY times worse than Ukraine and where the leader is the most corrupt of them all? How are the political problems of Ukraine solved by an invasion by a country with a completely dysfunctional system where one so-called elected president is effectively a dictator and every member of his Duma are either silent, neutered or competing with him in extremism, where the whole apparatus of government and judiciary and media are the captive of one man? How are the problems of extremism solved by an invasion by a country rife with neo-nazi extremists-many of whom seem to have the , eh, ''presidents'' ear, where a prominent and influential party in the Duma and it's leader are proponents of views reminiscent of Nazism combined with Stalinism and where the leader of the country is nostalgic for the days of naked , nationalist imperialism?

The same bunch of lies or versions of it have already been thoroughly discredited on this thread.

For starters anyone claiming Ukraine has killed 14000 'residents' in Donbas is repeating a proven lie. If they dont like being called a liar then they can provide a source to counter that accusation. And reader I promise you they wont provide a source. They never do.

The only way that figure could be reached is if somehow not a single person was killed by separatists or Russian forces and somehow Ukraine killed its own soldiers.

This is the level of obvious bare faced lying that these propaganda mouthpieces are disseminating.

When links to RT been provided everybody called it propaganda including you.

Unfortunately BBC UK does not provide truth about Ukraine same as did not about Iraq chemical weapons.

So what links you looking for ? When information from East by your opinion is propaganda and information from West does not provide truth ?

Why BBC and CNN journalists does not work from Donbas side line ?

Finally Ukraine will Never be member of EU and NATO ! Same as Turkey ! Which are candidate to EU since 1987 !

The next thing there will be no Ukraine next year like it or not !

I believe the real figure is about 3000 civilians killed since 2014, but most of those died as a result of being caught up in the fighting between the two sides (which is inevitable in any war).

The "eight years of genocide in the Donbass" is an absolute lie and comes straight from Putin himself (as if that sociopath would even be bothered about 3k civilian deaths).

The BBC et al have full statutory editorial independence from the British government and go after their government regularly.

RT is an explicit propaganda mouthpiece and messenger boy of the Kremlin that does not follow basic journalistic standards, sponsored by a government that murders journalists as a matter of routine. Don't even try to compare the two.The fact you can't understand the distinction, unfortunately, makes you a media illiterate and someone painfully susceptible to the most basic propaganda techniques.

The reason that there are no foreign journalists in the puppet states (bar Chinese state outlets, who don't meet the standards of journalism as we know it either) should be obvious to you. Russia expelled pretty much the entire foreign press corps, and the two rump fake states regularly denied access to Western journalists since 2014 (with the exception of Irishman Fergal Keane, who they deemed worthy of entry briefly).

You either were aware of this situation and are satisfied to outright lie through your teeth, or you didn't know and you are chronically ignorant to what you're spending your days defending. Both scenarios are as bad as each other.

Stop trying to insult people's intelligence. Your brothers in arms' corpses are being eaten by crows in the Donbas for the fever dreams of a megalomaniac, and this is the low-grade offal you contribute to your country's cause. Up your game.

Ukrainian forceshave withdrawn across the river from Servodonesk to avoid being completely encircled. This war is to go on and on.

I did not see a single interview of any Western media with officials from Donbas and any documentary from another side of front line.

The Western media try demonise Russia same as they did before against other countries .

They simply does not show other side because it is against Western media government policy

BBC are on money from UK government and do job for government.

Every time when Ukrainian government saying they are wining the territory of Ukraine getting smaller. They was wining in Mariupol (lost),they was wining in Severodoneck (lost) they was wining ,wining and wining but Donbas teritory still getting bigger and bigger.

The black market in Europe are floaded by weapons from Ukraine. Those Stingers and Javelins with Nlaws will be used in Europe airports by AlQaida or Isis soon!

Ukraine will never be EU or NATO member just because they are in war and has borders issues !

The last news from Donbas : People are free not pay mortgages and loans to Ukrainian banks ! Same Russia did in Crimea. The only bills people will have pay from Jully 1 will be utility bills.Any news about it on BBC ? Never will !

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

Interesting, that stuff about Stingers being used on EU passenger jets sounds almost like a sort of threat to me, esp. given Russia's (or its pets in Donbas) prior form with (accidentally) downing civilian aircraft.

I wonder, is that little message/idea bubble something you've been picking up from all the Russian media you soak your noodle in? Have they been talking that up?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,484 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

The temporary Russian governors in Donbas wouldn’t let the BBC in or talk to them. So how is that meant to work to appease you? If anything it shows that the Russians and separatists have something to hide.

You've already been told why there are no Western journalists in Donbas. The fascists in the Kremlin expelled them.

Stop insulting people's intelligence, and stop peddling propaganda.

I don't take my cues from the BBC, the Washington Post or the Beano, and neither does anyone else who is disgusted by Russia. Russia has demonized itself, it's been overran by a fascist cabal. The low-IQ alchos in the provinces, Brezhnev era babushakas, the circles of influnces around the Kremlin cheerlead this war. Everyone else from Vladivostok to the Baltic that knows what this war means stays silent to save their skin.

And all the while, the conscripts from the puppet states stolen from their homes and the streets, and the poor misfortunes from the provinces in Russia who were too poor to buy their way out of conscription are getting mowed down in the fields and streets for nothing. Their bodies consigned to the black earth of Ukraine - and unlike their Ukrainian adverseries, no one will honour them in decades to come. Their only memory will be a shiver of shame for future Russian generations when they read their textbooks.

With today corruption and weapons smuggling on Ukraine those weapons soon if not already will be in Europe.

As I said before number of times you don't have a clue what is going on in Ukraine and when and why all this started.

Unfortunately Europe people will have pay price for it . Winter coming !

Due with big Russia progress in the world and because USA didn't want lose leadership USA started war against Russia burning people of Ukraine.

Russia will not leave Ukraine Russia will win on Ukraine but were Europe people will getting money pay the bills that will be the question.

And start thinking how you will live after this war will be ended because world will be never as it was before and Putin said that clearly.

Ukrainian people are not Talliban in Afghanistan. They are not religious fanatics and they like comfort.So. please forget about long war there. The war on Ukraine will be ended straight away when people in Germany will freezing in them apartments and factories will be stopped this Winter.

Your country is f*cked for a generation. Enjoy trading with Angola and Venezuela.

Right now, your economy is smaller than Italy. By the time the West has finished running you ragged, you'll be lucky to be in the top 50.

Winter indeed is coming, and it'll be a long one for the sons and daughters of Peter the Great.

Putin won't be buried in the walls of the Kremlin. It'll be a potters grave in the provinces after being shot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,484 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

You’re watching too much prime time Russian TV with your threats. The only weapons smuggling is across the border with Russia. All other weapons are approved.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭saabsaab

To stop Putin the West needs to stop Gas and oil imports from Russia. painful for many but necessary. Also send more military advisors to support the Ukraine forces.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,529 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Are you suggesting the US 'wanted' Russia to invade Ukraine? They didn't give that impression any time before February 24th.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

If you are living here in Ireland (or elsewhere in the Wicked West), shouldn't you be making plans to urgently leave for the Empire, be nice and safe under Strong Father Putin's benevolent guiding hand, given all these disasters you think he's going to wreak on the EU come winter? You will in my arse I'd say!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,381 ✭✭✭Yurt2

    He's a draft dodger.

He thinks he's of more use to the Kremilinite fascist cause stinking up an internet forum on the edge of Europe. But really, the Russian Ministry of Defence would have have his mobilisation papers in his hand as soon as he touched down in Sheremetyevo.

And that's what he's afraid of.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

LOL. Or I suppose, more prosaically, along lines I was thinking, life is quite good here (and in other Wicked Western countries of the EU). Despite inflation, despite what winter may hold if Putin goes for broke with his Gas/Energy weapon it is all a much more attractive proposition than Russia for ordinary joe bloggs anyway.

Especially of course since Putin has decided to burn all of his bridges with the West forever now. Poster said the "world will be never as it was before" after the war. Already, it will not be as it was before between Russia and the West in our lifetimes IMO irrespective of how this war ends. I don't see a way back from this, and that is going to hurt Russia much more than the West in the long run.

Even people who have pickled their brains in the media from the home country, or are so hooked through the bag with poison nationalism that they will do a Lord Haw Haw act on here for free (!) (e.g. posting up links used by RT to evade its EU bans + sanctions), know the truth deep down.

I am far from a conspiracy theorist but have you listened to Victoria Nuland's phone call from 2014? The US have been playing this game for a long time and yes, IMO they maneuvered Putin into attacking Ukraine by encroaching on Russian borders bit by bit. The US are huge beneficiaries of this war; we eat **** here in Europe with energy prices and a refugee crisis, they get multi-billion dollar LNG export deals to cover Russian fossil fuels (see Nordstream 2 saga for context), weaken their enemy on the global stage and bring all of their allies beggar bowl in hand to Raytheon, Lockheed and co. for military equipment.

We are being fed a narrative by our media and I don't think it is reflective of reality.

Sorry not sorry, but that is conspiracy theorizing. Nobody benefits from this war, not even the US.

Nuland's call was because the Ukrainian President whose pro-Russian paramilitary police were murdering demonstrators abandoned the country and a new government needed to be formed out of nothing. Every country with any heft was trying to get the Ukrainians to stitch together some sort of credible government - primarly because Putin would have taken advantage of the vacuum (don't believe he wouldn't have? A bridge in Brooklyn just went up for sale on Amazon. It's a bargain).

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,529 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

If the US wanted to weaken Russia, they would hardly need to start a major European war with them to achieve it. There are lots of ways they have provoked a stand off or worsened relations with them.

Also, it was Putin who kept ratcheting up the tension in early 2022 without any provocation. He moved tens of thousands of Russian troops to the Ukrainian border and kept ranting and raving about Ukraine, despite there being no threat from them and no hope of them joining NATO.

You got a bit carried away in the last para. Why would anyone make even one monthly payment on a mortgage on a house that is completely levelled and anyway if I wanted to pay I could not because the bank is levelled also. You are some detail. Will you get’ up the yard’

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭ilkhanid

I've learned to tune out as soon as I hear the name 'Victoria Nuland' (as well as 'George Soros' and 'Bill Gates') because I knew the rest of the screed will be the usual load of conspiraloon nonsense.

Anyway, exactly which bits of Russia's borders were being ''encroached on bit by bit''? Please provide the details of these encroachments.

The video was taken by russian forces in village left by Ukrainian forces.Russian language

On video you could see brand new Javelin and NLAW.Same easy as they leaving those weapons behind same those weapons can be sold to criminal groups which will deliver them to Europe.Nobody doesn't control anything !

All weapons found will be used against Ukrainian army.Hej Boris and Biden Send more please !

The next thing war continuing over 3 months and there is no sign of any rebellion/partisan/gorilla type war.Nobody staying at home during the day and coming on street with weapons against Russia forces at night time.People changing Ukraine passport to russian and nobody has any motivation fight for Zelenski and his government.

There is plenty lads from Ukraine on Dublin building sites ask them why they are here and not on Ukraine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,484 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

It’s a war zone in a war started by your dear screwed up leader. There will of course be munitions discarded. If Russia hadn’t invaded there wouldn’t be munitions discarded. What about eh booby trapped cars, fridges, baby toys etc that your army left behind. That is a million times worse as they deliberately left them for innocent civilians including children to kill themselves with.

You have no right to be outraged by Ukraine. Look to the Kremlin for your outrage. Thankfully it’s going to be set back 100 years by the senseless war it started.

In actual news, I see Kyiv suffered a missile strike there; anyone closer to the ebb and flow of Russian forces know if this is a renewed precursor to an assault? They're obviously still close enough to fire

In actual news from Ministry of Defence in Russia any rockets wasn't sent to Kyev .They name every target and every city and Kyiv wasn't mentioned. Unfortunately your link is a fake .

Also russian forces doesn't use weapons against civil objects. If they would they could flatten Kyiv to the ground together with Zelenski already. For that reasons them forces moving slow.

Please stop trolling. The Russian army usually launch missiles towards Kiev from the puppet state of Belarus. The sad thing is that you believe nonsense such as targets being announced.
