Not at all. You are free to say it all you like. I would say the same to any person using their religion as reference point in a discussion. Religion is a very subjective and doesn't marry well with robust debates. It doesn't further discussion and usually stifles it.

It's absolutely pointless as it's YOUR religion, not anyone elses.

I'm sure plenty of people share a lot of your beliefs, but YOUR belief is yours and yours alone. A little bit like a fingerprint or a snowflake.

The frequency is irrelevant, because the question of rape and the common response (which you have in turn “wheeled out”) that even many pro-lifers support abortion as an option for rape victims underpins the moral inconsistency which lies at the heart of the pro-life argument.

Those of the anti-abortion persuasion tell us that the foetus is a human being whose right to life trumps the feelings or motivations of the mother. They tell us that even at the embryonic/foetal stage, the value and sanctity of life must be upheld. That is of course unless the foetus has the misfortune of being the product of rape — at which point many pro-lifers utterly abandon their morals and ethics regarding the value of a human foetus and are happy for it to be killed (using their terminology). It is a supreme moral hypocrisy which, while conveniently helping them escape from having to defend the indefensible, also involves them abandoning the morals on which they base their pro-life beliefs in the first place. In simpler terms, in cases of rape, these people will tacitly admit that a foetus is something different from a human with all the rights to life they would otherwise invoke.

As for those who take the hardline view that, even in cases of rape, abortion should never be permissible — their moral consistency remains impressively intact, but their beliefs are tyrannical. This is why it is always important to mention cases like rape, regardless of the frequency, because it’s where the morals underpinning the pro-life argument crash into a brick wall of hypocrisy.

Yeah, a woman seeking an abortion should make that decision with her doctor, and that 20 percent of people pressuring her should mind their own f*cking business.

Really don't understand the point you were trying to make there.

Also, pro-life people being in favour of abortion as an option for rape and incest is one of the most hypocritical things I've ever heard. 'You can't kill your baby... except for this. Kill away'.

It just shows how stupid they are and how little they genuinely care about the babies. Once the babies are born, f*ck them.

What goes on in one's mind to come up with a statement like that first line?

    Seriously.

The level of debate from those of a liberal leaning position can be incredibly juvenile. It's like they all got the one handbook for debating points and rote learned the one-line responses. They then have the audacity to complain about religious brain-washing.

You have so called liberals/progressives wanting to ban guns because of shooting incidents and then in the same breath telling people that banning abortions won't stop it happening.

    The mind truly boggles.

I'd wonder what goes on in ones mind that makes them think they can tell a woman what they can and can't do with their own bodies, but yet here we are.

Also, any post you disagree with is 'juvenile' or 'childish'. Maybe you need to look at the common denominator instead of aiming to dismiss every valid point that is put to you just because you don't have an answer for it.

"My body my choice" after a few years of trying to force people to get vaccinated too. Pointing out hypocrisy is worthless though sadly, as it causes them no shame, as they are shameless. They are ruthless when it comes to gaining power, so things like principles don't even factor into their politics.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

The frequency is very relevant. Every time the abortion debate comes around an onlooker would be forgiven for thinking that the world is full of rapists who's only goal is to impregnate as many women as possible with the rhetoric that the progressives trot out.

That is of course unless the foetus has the misfortune of being the product of rape — at which point many pro-lifers utterly abandon their morals and ethics regarding the value of a human foetus and are happy for it to be killed (using their terminology).

I can assure you that anyone who is ProLife is anything but happy for it to be killed - such a poor attempt at projecting what you think others would feel in such instances. Human life in the womb is still human life and avoiding the destruction of human life should be encouraged as much as possible, however cases like rape and incest resulting in pregnancy are thankfully rare and for the mental health and wellbeing of the mother it may be necessary for such abortions. Much like if the life and health of the mother is at risk too.

There is no wall of hypocrisy in that despite what you think you see.

I'd wonder what goes on in ones mind that makes them think they can tell a woman what they can and can't do with their own bodies, but yet here we are.

Another lazy one-liner from the progressive handbook I guess. This time last year the mantra was "Follow the science" - well @Faugheen the science tells you that there is another human body involved. Another human body that deserves protection which is provided for in law. What we disagree on is where the law doesn't offer adequate protection.

That 'human body' is not viable for a large portion of the pregnancy. Meanwhile, the woman it needs to survive can go through absolute hell just carrying it. You'll dismiss is as 'hyperbolic' but until you have had a partner going through pregnancy, you quite frankly know f*ck all. My partner went through the ringer during her pregnancy to the point that she doesn't want another child and you're here saying 'sure it isn't a disease'. The sheer lack of respect you have for women is astounding.

You have zero right to tell any woman what to do with their own body. Mind your own f*cking business.

What an absolutely pathetic response when you ignore any valid point that is put towards you. Stupid bollocks about 'ugh progressives' 'durr liberals'. Change the record and get some new material instead of peddling the same nonsense that's thrown out by losers with nothing better to do in their lives.

Just to repeat for you in case you're too stupid to read - mind your own f*cking business. My partner, my daughter, my sisters and any of the women in my life won't be lectured about what they can do with their own bodies by someone as nosey as you are.

how transphobe of you, you dont think that males and other-unspecified-non-conforming genders with wombs should have a voice in the debate?

If you can't discern the difference between incentivising the Public to get life saving vaccines in order to combat a global pandemic, and forcing a woman to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term, I don't know what to say.

Despite your waffle, no one was forced to receive the covid vaccine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Some were forced into getting the vaccine, more were heavily coerced, many were blackmailed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭Juran

Read the post. Did I saw mail order pills were ok? NO I DID NOT say they were ok. But people are free to chose if they agree with them. Nbty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Who was forced? Details please. Government and private businesses are well within their rights to have rules requiring vaccination, like every school everywhere for example.

Mandatory vaccines, which many people like you supported, isn't an inventive, it's being forced by law to put something into your body that you don't want in your body. It doesn't matter that it didn't happen in many countries, what matters is that it was supported by people like yourself. It's a bit like trying to kill someone, yet they live, and you go "Well so what? They didn't die?".

Pregnancy can be mitigated in many, many ways before getting to the stage of needing an abortion, which is conveniently overlooked by abortionists time and time again. The argument is always framed in a way that makes it seem like the fetus just ends up in the womb, and that there's no way to stop to growth, which is completly dishonest, but to be expected all the same.

I'm perfectly fine in myself. You can throw around the usual 'juvenile', 'unhinged' tropes like you lot always do when your trolling achieves a reaction, but I know that I'm on the right side of the debate here and I, along with many others, spend a long time posting in good faith, only to be met with posts such as this just dismissing everything without any effort to post in good faith.

All you lot do is look completely out of your depth, and you'll all like each others posts and have a chuckle to yourself while I and others who actually live in the real world will go on with our lives, while you and others of your ilk will just continue to come to boards and live in the comfort that other people share your view.

However, your view, is very much in the minority, and always will be in the minority.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,135 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

By forced im assuming you mean held down and injected against their will? You have examples of this surely? Who exactly was blackmailed? What exactly were they blackmailed with? Who exactly was heavily coerced? BTW coersion means the use of force or threats of harm to get someone to do something they dont want to do.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

The covid vaccines weren't forced on anyone, period. They were as mandatory as having a driver's license is to operate a motor vehicle. Part of the social contract. A world away from forcing a woman to carry a pregnancy to term.

Your argument is specious and pathetic.

I was referring to a post that mentioned the impact of pregnancy on mental health. I'm sure yer man the mighty catholic is an expert on that as well.

And, if you're wondering what the GQP in the US wants to do next, Sen. Cornyn from Texas - I think he's the senior Senator there where Cancun Cruz is the junior senator - tweeted this. Alito's cough reasoning cough gives them a chance to do what they want, too:

Hmm.. Are you o.k. with mail-order Viagra then? Or is it just ru486 that's causing you conniptions? Because that's pretty telling.

That lady actually works with a guy who is a know sex fiend and a holocaust denier - the Turkish one against Christian’s

funny enough she constantly defends her employer , I find her to be completely dishonest. She would rather be well paid and be in a job of privilege than stand up for her own people - she being part Armenian

be careful who you use to make your points

You don't seem to. Your posts often come across as angry and bitter. You're nearly always on the attack, and often insulting people who are being civil with you. Honestly, I think that abortion is barbaric, it's honestly something that I loath, yet I don't come into threads like this calling people like you "evil baby murders" or anything as such, because there's no value to it. You aren't capable of the same though, you lash out in nearly every post.
