Where is Gig? Loads of quite spots.

Sleeping in indoor isn't allowed as far as I know.

Plus you could be done for drunk driving.

I see the problem, a scenic area or lay-by might be too far to walk to after the gig.

Check out Aldi or Lidl's policies.

I doubt the parking company would be happy… they are not going to be enamoured with a person on property without supervision…. Probably do a walk around prior to shutting up and if you get seen.

Yeah this, I know of someone that waa done for drink driving for going out for a smoke in their car in the car park when it was wet out. Not sure if putting key in the ignition (radio, air) was the tipping point of being "in control of the car" or just having the key within the car.

The gig is on in the big top near the cathedral. The frames.

I'm not being cheap about it i priced one bnb 6 miles outside the city and it was 292 euros for one night for one adult. Mental stuff.

So, all the city centre area will be packed so NUIG and around will be no parking in to be had.

Also security staff have instructions to move cars like this on according to the nephew and he's one before peeps give out.

St Joseph Church ⛪ baybe or around Leisureland which isn't a huge walk.

At what point do the few pints become not worth it ...?! Or swing the other way and get yourself arrested and put up in minimal accommodation for the night.

Park up in the hospital car park. Done it loads of times. Anyone asks you have a sick family member in ICU.

Damn it man you can't go to a frames gig without having a few drinks.

But you make a good point.

Any galwegians want to lend me a driveway? :)

Please don't have a feed of pints and drive home the next morning. You'll still be locked.

Let us know how you get on as unfortunately I suspect there may be a few other people reverting to this form of stay overs.

I remember a few nights sleeping (of sorts) in a Fiesta. Going out not worried when we or if we get back... great days!

What about camping? There is a camp site in Salthill. Cheap pop up tent and sleeping bag, park car up for the night. Plenty of good pubs in Salthill to go to after the gig

I was never one for camping.i don't even have a tent. I have an offer of a drive way from a friend in Galway but it's s way the other side of town so getting a taxi might be a problem.

Buy a cheap pop up tent, leave it beside the car and sleep in the car. You'll have toilets. Just don't let the owners know what you're up to. Book now though, they can be fairly booked up lately.

Would the owners care if he slept in the tent or the car?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,677 ✭✭✭John_Rambo

Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. It's not where he sleeps, but his intent. They're usually family campsites with kids and a no socialising after 10pm. They won't want people coming back late from a festival late at night to kip in cars. The tent is a cover if you will. If they get a sniff that there's festival goers using the campsite to arrive in the early hours of the morning and making noise, urinating, meeting other like minded festival attendees they won't be happy.

So, if the op is clever, brings a tent and acts like a tourist they'll probably fall for it.
