Claim back tax on MED 2 Form

If you have already claimed all your tax back no additional claim is possible in relation to medical expenses

If you incurred the expense in 2020 and you have claimed back all your taxes paid already well then there is nothing left to claim. You can only get relief on taxes that were paid.

It's about the amount of PAYE tax paid as opposed the amount you earned. If you have claimed back all the tax you paid in the year 2020 well there is no further relief to be claimed.

For example:

You paid €200 PAYE in the year 2020

Your Med 2 is for €2,000

Relief would be given at 20%. 2000*20%= 400 additional credit for 2020

As you only paid 200Eur for 2020 you would only be entitled to receive 200Eur back despite the fact the credit is worth 400.

You only get back relief on what you paid in.

In your case you've already claimed all the tax you paid so there is nothing to get relief against.

One thing hasn't been mentioned...if you received treatment in one year but paid for it in the following year you can claim the relief in either year.
