Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,

Got an email from VW last night saying my free sub is nearly up on my we charge card.

Has anyone looked into which cards offer the best value for charging in the wild?

I have access to kia and VW cards and ofc all the others ESB etc..

If no one has the info I'll do up a search and post the results online.

eCars own card, easygo own card, after that the cost rises substantially whatever the Ionity option is. I have all the cards but have never even used easygo nevermind rest of "them"

seeing as you've access to a Kia and a VW card i'll assume you've two EVs, is it possible (ethical..... yes) to sign up to say the Ionity Power package on the Kia Charge card/app and use it for both of your cars? A single per month sub allowing two cars to avail of the cheaper Ionity rate.

How far can we push this? Could I give my whole family (in some future world where they all have an EV) the sign in to my Kia Charge app and we all avail of the cheap charging rate? I see no reason why a card / subscription should be tied to a single car.

So far yes. Once you sign up for plug and charge (if ever) no.

It's like sharing a Netflix subscription with your aunty, cousin, neighbour!

It is a right pain with the various options and most "roaming" options are more expensive than direct. Easygo does have touch to pay by credit card on their 50+kW chargers including lidl 50+kW chargers but again it's more expensive,

There is a separate ionity thread on boards.ie with recommendations for lowest ionity cost, but most reduced ionity deals are with weird providers who then change pricing overnight as they are losing money on ionity pricing. Some of the cards/apps for cheap ionity are only available to sign up in German language.

quick scroll (not quick tbh) on the oul google gave me this.

The kia easy is a one time activation fee.

Easygo charges 0.27 and then the per kW price

Your "ESB Monthly" entry appears to be missing the €4.79 monthly fee for their sub?
