I'm nearly two weeks from when I think I first had symptoms and while I could always sleep for Ireland at anytime of the day and I had no really bad symptoms I find myself even sleepier than normal. Still have the occasional weird burnt coffee smell in my noise.

Wake me up when it's all over.

I am on day three, the weekend has been hell, especially Sunday afternoon. Temperature was over 40, pains in head, teeth, eyes etc.

Feel much better now but not sleeping for some reason, however, I don't feel tired. Appetite is back but I can only manage small meals.

I just felt really tired for a couple of days but thought it was because I was after increasing my exercise regime and walling. Then last Thur sore throat and Friday sinus burning and pain. Then by Sun felt fine just a slight cold.

I really wouldn't have thought it was covid going by how ppl describe, it seemed more like allergies.

I suffer from some sort of "hay fever" and my covid symptoms would have been very similar.

Wake me up when it's all over.

gee the contrast between different people's symptoms is unreal - this virus really keeps us guessing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,171 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Got a negative result an hour ago on a non HSE Antigen test

Still have mild synthoms but energy moving back up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,016 ✭✭✭sporina

    when did your symptoms start?

if within 8 days i'd say its a false negative...

antigen test results are not reliable..

I only got a positive result on day 4

your contagious for about 8 days (day 0 - when symptoms start)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,171 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

started this day week (tues 21st) gradually moving up to Thursday 23rd and then positive test Friday morning (24th)

I'm going to do a HSE test later on

We've had covid in the house twice now and the one symptom I seem to be getting (and see it as a bit of a 'covid sign' now) is this really intense headache right between my eyes. It's a headache I can't remember ever having due to anything else. It also seems to be making me clench my teeth.

In the second full day of Covid. Started coming on Sunday evening with a mild fever. Monday morning got a positive antigen result. Mild flu symptoms throughout the day, mainly fever and a headache. Some but not much coughing. Very slight sore throat.

Much better today (Tuesday). Still a slight headache but fever seems to have broken. I got the two vaccine shots in the first half of last year mainly for the purposes of travel and I think these are providing some protection. Overall I've had much worse with flus over the years.

I will still avoid spreading it around now that I have it as I would with the flu.

oh ok same as me - mine started Tue too (in hind sight)

might be a true negative so..

though you don't need to do any more tests really..

from tomorrow on your good to so, if you symptoms are gone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,171 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Done a HSE one and it was positive (C line full and a really faded line on T) but i am feeling a lot better, hopefully a sign its coming to an end

Tested positive yesterday for first time.

Woke up with headache which wouldn't shift all day. Feeling in my nose like bad sinus. Energy levels dropped as day went on & feeling poorly by evening with slight cough & tight chest.

Poorly today with very low energy levels, sore neck & arms, legs.

Question ..... on day 7 or 8 of isolating if doing an antigen test - will the test be negative or still positive ????

Just wondering...... am heading back to work on day 8 either way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,171 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Could be wrong but think Covid could be still in your system after day 7 (still showing positive result even though you have very mild/no symptoms)but its not transmissible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭2 fast

I thought once you've no new symptoms and 2 negatives tests within 48hrs you were okay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,016 ✭✭✭sporina

you could still be positive on antigen test.. but not contagious (after 8 days in total with 1st day of symptoms being day 0)

ie: don't bother doing antigen tests after 8 days in total

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,016 ✭✭✭sporina

well started having symptoms on Tue - didn't get a positive antigen test till Fri.. and I had no symptoms by then..

my wife is currently locked in the bedroom with it.

its funny, i had it pre vaccines, and in all honestyh i breezed through it, fever for 24 hours and loss of taste and smell, that was it.

this new variant is supposed to be mild, we've all had boosters etc... and it seems to me my wife is 20 times worse than i was. She's got the worst cough ive ever heard, no energy, bunged up. Looks a real nasty dose to be honest.

she wasnt feeling 100% on Saturday, but tested negative on an antigen. Negative again on Monday, but wasnt feeling any better so tested again yesterday morning, and it finally showed up as positive. Im hoping she's fairly free of it by the weekend as currently doing my best to keep our 2 young children out of the house and im sleeping in a childs bunk bed to.....im 6ft 3......its beyond a tight squeeze 🙃

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,913 ✭✭✭JacksonHeightsOwn

is that day 5 from first symptom, or from your first positive test?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,016 ✭✭✭sporina

didn't your symptoms start last Tue? if so this is your day 8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭Bit cynical

End of the fourth full day for me. Posted on the second full day here.

I don't think I got the worst dose of it considering some of the posts on this thread. Sore throat particularly in the morning. Bit of a cough occasionally. In summary, mild cold symptoms.

Tested positive today. Thought I had bronchitis earlier in the week as I was a bit phlegmy, and had tested negative earlier on in the week. Now I have a positive antigen test. Cough is now dry and tickly, more annoying than anything else. Head a bit stuffy too but no fever. Not much appetite either. I think I might have picked it up at a Crowded House concert the other night.

Had the thing myself, first day I was floored, second day I had a thumping headache and feeling a bit cold and dizzy and out of it probably had a high temperature. In-between I slept a lot maybe 18 hours a day for 7 days then it tapered off I was less tired as the day's went on... 14 days later I feel like I'm back to normal .

Felt a bit stressed locked around my home for two weeks, ate well and I avoided fatty foods. Went out into the hazel wood in the valley near my house as I'm quite remote, hardly ever meet anyone there. Apart from the local goat herd's. Couldn't walk very much as the tiredness would be on you quite fast.

It's that feeling of being out of it, short memory span that felt weird as I consider myself quite sharp, the tiredness was ok as it was a nice content tired and I'd melt into the couch listening to documentaries on YouTube.

It was a strange illness, I had no respiratory conditions and my lungs were working well.

So I suppose it's the tiredness, brainfog and fatigue that I had, felt like I was stoned or something. Haven't been stoned since the late 90's.

So all in all it wasn't too bad.

A few people I have heard of recently have been getting bad stomach symptoms with the latest omicron variant. Might be covid causing it. Hope it’s not too severe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,046 ✭✭✭Bio Mech

I’m on day 6. Starting to feel normal today. But still tired. It’s not a pleasant experience. I’ve had bad flus in the past and a really bad strep infection and covid wasn’t far off those. Less severe maybe but longer lasting and more variable symptoms.

ive had a dry, scratchy sore throat from the off and then days with aches and pains. Sinus headache and cough. Oh and one night with night sweats. That was lovely. Also lost sense of smell entirely for one day and then it came back the following day. Mild chills on and off.

kids have it now for 2 days. Very mild for them thank god. I had my booster over 6 months ago and don’t feel it helped me much at this stage. Booster efficacy apparently drops to 40% after 10 weeks and mine was 26 weeks ago. Testing very very faint positive on the antigen test today.

best of luck to anyone who has it. You will get there.

yep stomach pains/nausea was one of my symptoms. 2 weeks later and still not right.

Started mad sneezing and + antigen last Monday night. The start of 3 days of bad cough/headcold symptoms followed by 3 more of feeling v weak/close to fainting. Feel I’m slowly heading in right direction now but did antigen this AM and it went positive immediately. A truly horrible dose. With the worst of flu in the past, I have never been still sick 7 days later!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,046 ✭✭✭Bio Mech

Yeah it’s a long lasting nasty dose. A couple of family friends were testing positive on the antigens for over 10 days recently. Hope you are on the mend soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,046 ✭✭✭Bio Mech

Thanks. Feeling better a good bit today on day 7-8. Kids a bit better today too at days 5 and 3 for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭leahyl

Started feeling weird yesterday- just not myself. This morning I felt crap with achey muscles and beginnings of headache, then the shivering started. Took an antigen test and it was negative but I NEVER and I mean never pick up anything really so gonna do another tomorrow. Have taken afternoon off from work, currently in bed. If it’s positive tomorrow then it’s most likely from Elton John concert on Friday which was outdoors….

What tonics/ medicines etc are people taking afterwards to help recovery...... ~????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,349 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Finally got it after all this time. Started on Saturday evening with a slight scratchy throat, similar yesterday with a bit of achiness in the legs but fine overall. Woke up then this morning with a cough and feeling a bit crap. Line immediately came up on the antigen.
