Marrying an Asian girl.

I’m marrying an Asian girl , Filipina. She’s currently working in Hong Kong.

we are applying for a marriage, but I’m a little confused about what is necessary.

in the form, it’s asking to present an immigration/travel Visa, but she does not have that, we are going to apply for a tourist visa, once we have a date for the marriage.

Has anyone else had experience in this, we want to get married in Ireland. Neither of us have been married.

Im Irish, self employed, own 2 houses.

Not sure about Ireland, but in the US if you deliberately enter on a tourist visa with the intention of getting married, you can get in trouble. I'd imagine it is the same in Ireland though. You express a reason for wanting the visa and if it turns out that you were lying, it isn't too good if caught.

There was a case, I can't remember which one, which highlighted the difference between an Irish man bringing in a foreign spouse, and an Irish woman bringing in a foreign spouse. Basically it used to be that the former was an easier/shorter process. I don't know whether that is still the case today.

Thanks, I’ll check out with the registrar in the city, and see if I can get outside professional advice as well.

Ah ok. In the US they have a special "fiance visa" that you are supposed to use. I know of people who did get married over there while entering as a "tourist" and they had to be careful to be consistent with the story that it was a spontaneous decision.

It's probably the same here. It's not a "Tourist" visa, it's a "Short Stay C Visa" and the specific reason for travel is mentioned in the application.
