Hi, i was thinking of changing my camera to go down the mirrorless route, the camera i have in mind is the canon R7, i can't find any definite date for it's release only june 2022, does anyone know of the release date for Ireland?

    Thanks.

To be honest, I don't think Canon themselves know when it will ship. Like many companies and products, it seems to have been hit by the supply chain/component crisis.

This Canon Japan page from May 31st is in Japanese, but you can use your browser to translate it. Basically it lists a number of cameras, including the R7, says they're very sorry, but they've been hit by supply issues, their orders exceed expectations, and "We are planning to ship sequentially, but it may take longer to deliver than usual." So it sounds like even the vague "June 2022" date is out the window.

I was thinking of using wex photo in Belfast to pre order, has anyone used wex?

    Are they reliable?

    Do they ship to ROI?

Unfortunately WEX don't ship outside of the UK from their online store. I did buy from them years ago when they did ship to Ireland, and they were good. You might be able to pre-order directly from the Belfast store and pick it up yourself when it comes into stock.

I get a lot of stuff from Photospecialist in the Netherlands, and I've always been happy with them. The have a €50 preorder on the R7 (https://www.photospecialist.ie/canon-eos-r7-body-pre-order). Obviously, you pay the balance when it ships (total is €1519.99 + €7.99 shipping).

I have used an Post Addresspal to import from the UK. Add about £20 fee plus 23% VAT to the item. Granted it would make a camera very pricey.

Thanks LTF and Gregor, I rang the WEX shop in Belfast about placing an order for the R7, spoke to a very helpful chap who said they don't post to the republic, i've used border parcel motel in Belcoo before so I might go that route when they get stock of the R7 in.

Gregor Samsa, i opened an account with Photospecialist but i can't pre order the R7, the check out page is saying my shipping options are not valid, i'm not sure why as i filled out the delivery address correctly, do they still deliver to ROI?

Photospecialist definitely still ship to Ireland. I bought a Lowepro camera bag from them just last week, and a few other bits over the past few months.

I just tried putting the R7 pre-order into my cart. Seems like you, I'm getting stuck on the Deliver page. It says "Choose your shipping option", but doesn't actually show any shipping options, and then if you submit the page, you get the "The sected shipping option is not valid" error.

Usually, you get "DHL Parcel" showing up under the Shipping Option (there isn't a choice, they only use DHL to Ireland). Looks like the pre-order product isn't set up with a shipping option. Maybe send them a mail?

Do photospecialist site use third party sellers for some items, as Amazon does.

No, they're the online store for a chain of physical camera stores called Kamera Express. They have a load of shops in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. As far as I can tell, they only sell their own stock.

That's the same message i'm getting, i sent an email on sunday, got an automatic reply to say there would be a reply within two days, i would like to pre order with them as the price is very reasonable plus there's a free adapter in the deal which i would have to buy anyway.hope they get it sorted soon.
