The colder the beers going in the better too so don't be afraid to lash them in the freezer to get them super cold but not frozen

    Great tips all !

Cheers for the info! I'd be tempted to get one... Do you have to buy any extra packs for it that you actually freeze or are they included?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,240 ✭✭✭fafy

No ice packs are included in any of the various ones i looked at, so its usually, a separate purchase, or, you just use bags of ice or frozen bottles of water. I have tried the cheaper cool boxes before and they are utterly useless for a 3 day event, as they don’t have good quality insulation, fine for a one day trip, but definitely not for 3 full days, unless you're doing ice top ups, each day, and who wants to be doing that, i’m sure some ice is available, but just wouldn’t be bothered with that myself.

Right enough about coolers, who would you like to see added to the line up.

My tiny glimmer of hope for Rage is still there, but realistically can't see it happening. I'd love the idea of the saw Doctors for Jerry Fish seen as they are doing a few dates again.

I don't see any heritage act for the Sunday evening unless god forbid the Pixies are in that category (!). Hoping for a good few more Irish acts to get thrown in there too. Lots of acts needed to fill out that lineup yet.

Thanks for intervening BD, useful though the info is I was getting a headache. 😁😁

Personally I don't care about any big acts being added though SLF, Squeeze, the Bunnymen or Suede would be good. Idles I'd love but they're in the US.

What I'm keener on is getting the best of young indie bands there, and there are plenty - Working Men's Club, Life, NewDad, Just Mustard, Dry Cleaning, Squid, Sports Team, Melts, Silverbacks, Wet Leg and a dozen more. I reckon we'll be getting a fair few of them also.

Wet leg also in the states. Idles gig from Glastonbury looked class

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,550 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Hoping for Rage myself, Murder Capital would be good too, I agree with Seath too with SLF and Squeeze and Suede. Wouldn't mind the Bloc Party seeing as they are touring, Luke Vibert who's just released a new album GRIT and Bicep if its possible to book them, they look like the new Orbital or Chemical Brothers judging by their Glastonbury show.

Stunning at Glasto, for me they're easily the best of the current crop of post-punk bands. Apologies to the Fonts and others.

I fully expect Fanirish to pop in in any minute and tell us why none of those will be playing the Picnic. Lots of good choices there lads. I'm just going to let myself be surprised. I'm already deliriously excited about the whole thing. What's the worst that can happen?

Just played Surfer Rosa and Doolittle back to back in the car there. We've lots to look forward to.

I just want a f-ing announcement at this stage!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,624 ✭✭✭Mucker46

I know that feeling. Just back from 2 weeks holiday which distracted me now need an announcement to focus on

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,205 ✭✭✭Dreamweapon

My two perennials: The Jesus & Mary Chain and Spiritualized (the latter are in Bristol the same weekend before heading to America a few days later. Could happen but extremely unlikely).

Other than those, a few from Manchester Psych Fest, which is on the same weekend, would be nice: Dead Meadow, The Lucid Dream, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Rose City Band (definitely not happening unfortunately), Tess Parks, Tinariwen, Warmduscher.

Really though i'm hoping for at least 1 act that i'd be truly excited about seeing will be playing.

Anyone know Naked Lungs? Saw them supporting Enola Gay back in December. The post-punkers among you would enjoy them. https://nakedlungs.bandcamp.com/album/naked-lungs

Big on the all mouth and trousers scene

Warmduscher is a great call (the footage of them from Glasto looked amazing) but alas they're playing around England every night of EP weekend. Hope they do an Irish tour later in the year or early 2023.

I haven’t given up hope on Rage & Run The Jewels yet!

James, Suede, Spiritualized and Bicep would all be great.

The line-up needs some more quality dance acts - and while Aphex Twin is top of my list, I’d be gobsmacked if it happened. Any chance of Krystal Klear? Kink? Cinthie put out an amazing DJ Kicks mix so is also on my must-see list if she comes anywhere near Ireland.

That said, when EP comes around it’ll be my first gig since 2 April so I’m not really that fussy!

Going to catch some dance acts this year, not my usual music but want to experience it so you might give me some suggestions as acts are announced.

If there is going to be an lineup announcement this week you'd imagine the announcement of the announcement would be today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭rubick

Jeff Mills and Helena Hauf both already announced, should both be in Terminus and both playing full on techno sets.

dont they sell ice on site?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,927 ✭✭✭endainoz

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,205 ✭✭✭Dreamweapon

Yeah, i saw them in the Workmans in 2018 and they were pretty good. Reminded me of Alabama 3, not so much musically but just their general vibe. Worth checking out if the chance arises.

Big on the all mouth and trousers scene

The annoying thing about their Facebook page is you can't write a post asking when the line up is going to be announced, all you get is their posts and about 95% of the comments are, when are you going to announce again. Is there a way to directly contact them where its visible on social media without having to dm them.

There's no point, they're not going to engage with you directly.

I remember a time they did, you could post on the page and they were great at getting back to you, but it seems to have changed in the last 3 or 4 years, there's always Twitter but I can't seem to log into it at the moment.
