    Thoughts on my first Draft

    Raya

    TAA Cancelo Chilwell James Perisic

    Salah Saka Diaz Neto

Kane(But will change to Haaland in GW2)

    Subs-Archer, Steele, Stansfield ,Andreas

My main worry would be playing only one up top. If your main man doesn't play (which could happen with Haaland if they try to manage him after his injuries last season), you'll end up with only ten players that week (assuming your strikers are non-playing bench fodder?). I like the Chelsea wingbacks, but am waiting to see how they shape up in pre-season with new CBs coming in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 283 ✭✭bodking

Why not start with Haaland in case you have injuries somewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,315 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

My two cents would be plan your team with GW1 and GW2 in mind.

Banking the extra transfer will set you up nicely for GW3 on beyond.

Happy enough with my first draft attempt at accommodating Kane and Haaland:

    Sa/Bazunu

    James/Cancelo/Botman/Mitchell/Perisic

    Bruno Guimaraes/Ramsey/JWP/Maddison/Diaz

    Kane/Haaland/Mbuemo

Thoughts? Midfield might be a little weak, but Bruno, Maddison and Diaz were all very good towards the end of last season, and JWP is a set-piece-taking, 90-minute playing cert.

Not a fan of no Salah. Owned by 60% of players. If he has a GW1 similar to the last 2 seasons (and he will be highly captained) you are goosed. Just too much of a risk for me.

    Raya

    TAA, Cancelo, Chilwell, Persic

    Salah, Coutinho, Ward-Prowse

    Haaland, Jesus, Mitrovic

Forster, Neco Williams, dasilva, andreas Pereira

    Mendy

    TAA Cancelo James Tomiyasu Perisic

    Salah Bruno G Mahrez

    Haaland Jesus

subs 4m Gazzinga, Moutinho, Andreas Periera, Greenwood

Spending 5m on Moutinho as a sub is maybe a waste but like to have one sub whose not the cheapest option.

Mahrez(also Foden) have decent value if they get minutes, the city rotation may make me change byt hard to find an 8m mid i like n end changing up thw whole draft completely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭bmorrissey

    Mendy / Hendo

TAA / Cancelo / Cash / Burn / Neco Williams

    Bruno G / Salah / Maddison / Kulusevski / Yates

    Jimenez / Jesus / Watkins

Will be playing alot of 3-4-3 with that team, but alot of tough calls on who to bench etc, im liking yates this year as a cheap alterative and he will score the odd goal too. Solid front men of Jesus, Jimi and Watkins which i dont see myself changing this half of the year unless injury etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭chris445

    Mendy / 4m fodder

    TAA / Cancelo / Chilwell / Tomiyasu / N.Willimas

    Salah / Mahrez / Rashford / Martinelli / Andreas

    Haaland / Jesus / Archer

First draft here but close eye on pre-season around Mahrez(could be Foden or Grealish either)/Rashford/Martinelli/Jesus on minutes and performance.

Bench is weak which is a bit of a concern but Williams and Perreira should be nailed and with 5 subs introduced this year we may not get as many subbed in from the bench as we have in the past with more cameos.

I get what your saying, but I think Spurs are going to start like a train with Soton at home, and I wouldn't be surprised if Salah begins to dip below his ridiculous standards (which was happening post AFCON anyway). Willing to take the risk before a ball is kicked 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,192 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Interesting point with no needing the subs as much.

I used to generally have playing bench players able to switch in, but that might not be needed as much anymore. But having the option of a playing 4.0 is appealling.

  • Registered Users Posts: 283 ✭✭bodking

If your playing 352 every week there's not much cover . And no Salah is risky.

  • Registered Users Posts: 283 ✭✭bodking

First one I'm pleased with , planning to WC in GW8 .

    Draft 15 already

    Raya Henderson

TAA, James, Tomi, Cash, N Williams

    Salah, KDB, Saka, Bissouma, Andreas

    Jesus, Awoniyi, Mitrovic.

Going to go KDB over Haaland I think.

Zinchenko to Arsenal is an interesting one. Talk of Arteta maybe playing him in midfield. A 5m OOP option maybe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,582 ✭✭✭skippy15

Big at the back looks guaranteed points, so much doubt around some mids, before pre seASON kicks in this would be my team

    Raya

    Trent robbo cancello James chilwell

    Salah rashers neto

    Jesus halland

    Fodder fodder fodder fodder

I see Neto in a lot of early teams and can't understand for the life of me why, is it because he's relatively cheap at 5.5?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,077 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

So here is my first draft (of I say constant change) helpful thought appreciated

    Alisson

    Coady Mings White Reguilon

Trossard De Bruyne Murphy Salah (how is he still in the midfield!!!)

    Haaland Jesus

    Subs

    Darlow Cucurella Norgaard Wood

Undecided on Formation yet thinking 343 or 352

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,043 ✭✭✭remoteboy

First draft is the hardest. There’s some decent players in there but three premiums is alway going to mean compromises. Defence looks weak. Think White is injured for the start of the season. Reguilon won’t see much game time unless he gets a move.

KDB and Haaland is almost 25% of your budget on 2 players from the same team. Maybe swap KDB for Son or Haaland for Kane. Or look at Mahrez or Kulu for KDB and use the extra 4m to add two from Trent/Cancelo/James to that back line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,497 ✭✭✭macraignil

Murphy and Wood may not be getting full games with Almiron and Wilson competing for the same positions in the Newcastle team. Wood at 6mill may be a bit much to spend on your last sub position and downgrading him to complete fodder could free up 1.5mill to upgrade elsewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,582 ✭✭✭skippy15

Ye basically it's best in price bracket he should be playing some games up front and looks good for minutes, will either jump in price or be moved on after first few weeks,

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,077 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Ya I was never going to stay with both Haaland and KDB but was not sure which so just put both in. I agree my defense is bad and needs a lot of work

  • Registered Users Posts: 403 ✭✭KurtBarlow

    Mendy

    TAA James Cancelo Robertson Chillwell

    Salah Guitimaras Neto

    Kane Jesus

    Thoughts

    Another Draft LOL

    Raya Henderson

TAA, James, Cash, Perisic, N Williams

    Salah, Son, Diaz, ASM, Andreas

    Jesus, Mitrovic, Greenwood

Now going to downgrade Haaland for Jesus so I can bring in Salah (for Diaz). Will have to downgrade James to accommodate that move, and 50-50 between Tomiyasu and Dalot (default RB for United I assume). Tempted to go Sancho or Rashford over Madisson now too. Thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 449 ✭✭SeanJ09

    De Gea

Cancelo James Dalot TAA Ruben Dias

De Bruyne Bruno G Luis Diaz

    Kane Martial

Subs are Ward Browse Pereira Murphy

Utd players will be leaving if Ronaldo stays.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,077 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

So here is another draft helpful thought appreciated

    Alisson

    TAA James Laporte

Trossard De Bruyne Norgaard Murphy Salah

    Antonio Jesus

    Subs

    Darlow Cucurella Mings Parrott

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,623 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Think you could do with beefing up that midfield. Trossard, Norgaard and Murphy isn’t really doing justice in the position where most points tend to come from.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

I'm really struggling to find anyone apart from Haaland that I want up front. I'd love to start 451 but am worried that anytime Haaland is rotated, I'd likely be left with 10 players.

    My current 5-4-1 option

    Sanchez

    TAA Cancelo Chilwell Tomiasu Doherty

    Salah Son Bailey Rashford

    Haaland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,582 ✭✭✭skippy15

    Nunez second half hat trick...hello

My latest attempt, I like it

    Sa/Bazunu

    DALOT/TOMIYASU/Botman/Cancelo/ Perisic

    SALAH/AARONSON/SANCHO/Ward-Prowse/Bruno G

    JESUS/Kane/Mbeumo

I like it. Sancho looks to be playing right-wing and Aaronson will surely be a direct replacement for Raphinha. A my defender should be first-choice, and Jesus has has a good pre-season. Although I am tempted to swap Jesus for Havertz (default striker) and bring back in Maddison for Sancho.

    0.5 to play around with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,623 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Zero chance I’m going out without both Robbo and Diaz unfortunately

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,077 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

One of the reasons when I started doing other draft as I went with DeByrne instead as more likely to start for City

Tried to get a good balance but Inevitably I always lean to the attacking side. Hoping dalot continues his good pre season, initially had martial in but after watching Nunez score 4 I think his confidence will be sky high against Fulham. Am I crazy leaving out Cancelo and TAA?

    2nd Draft...

    Mendy...Forster

    Trent...Gabriel...Neco Williams...Cancelo...Tanganga

    Salah...Kulusevski...Saka...Ward-Prowse...Jacob Ramsey

    Jesus...Nunez...Broja

Him and Trent I assumed were givens. What I meant was that the conversation is already which of Robbo and Diaz to go for, without throwing Nunez into the mix. Nunez has merit at his price if you could have unlimited Liverpool players, but he is still probably a bit down the pecking order for those precious 3 Liverpool spots that I assume everyone will use.

Working on the basis that I usually use a wildcard during the first international window, although with that not coming until after week 8 I’m not sure whether to stick to that or not.

    Meslier / Sanchez

Both 4.5 and with the rotation pairing it’s home matches against Wolves, Everton, Forest, Leeds and Palace with away games against Southampton, West Ham and Brentford in the first 8 weeks up to the international window.

    TAA, Cancelo, James, Zinchenko, Williams

Hoping Zinchenko will be OOP in midfield for Arsenal, happy to bring in White instead if not and keep the back 4 starting each week. Neco Williams is bench fodder for 4.

    Mount, Diaz, Rashford, Ramsey, Pereira

No Salah obviously, preferring to use that money for the front 2. Rashford is there on pre-season form at the moment, can easily be replaced by Ward-Prowse or Odegaard if needed though. Ramsey is a rotation pair with Solanke leaving me between 442 and 433 each week. Pereira is perma benched for 4.5.

    Haaland, Kane, Solanke

Can easily downgrade the main 2 to a combo of Jesus, Vardy, Havertz or Darwin to accommodation Salah after week 2 if he's tearing it up. 6 million on the bench every 2nd week with Solanke is a little bit of a waste but the lowest close to guaranteed starter is probably Mateta, with the Villa / Bournemouth rotation I’m leaning on Solanke for now.

    Sa

    Perisic Botman James

    Son Aaronson Sancho Odegaard

    Mitrovic Haaland Jesus

    /Henderson Kongolo Malacia Bowen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,665 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

I'd prefer Bailey to Ramsey. Cheaper and looking good in pre-season. If he stays fit, he could be great value.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭bantee

Undecided between Kane and Haaland and might actually swap after GW1 and then again after GW2 based on fixtures. Happy enough with most of it though:

    Mendy

    TAA Robbo Cancelo Chillwell

    Salah Martinelli Rashford Neto

    Kane Jesus

    Darlow N.Williams Pereira Greenwood

Anyone any feedback on my team? I have gambled a bit on Grealish/Rashford picks but have a lot of confidence in both players and I think both will score higher than people expect.
