On the last night before back to work, what does Ray have? couple of cans ?

No he had a chipper, and what did he get from the chipper,,,,,,,, a fcukin salad, could one man be any more predictably boring

Have RTE management been encouraging Ray to play more music on his show these days - presumably to cutt down on the blandness on his actual patter?

First 10-15 minutes seems to be Ray playing clips (audio and Musical) most days

He was talking about his "office" at home there yesterday, he said "its not an office really, its an everything room, its my dope room" (paraphrasing) does this mean he has the odd smoke or is "dope" slang for something else nowadays?

Latest radio stats show Ray D'Arcy losing listeners

The latest radio listenership stats are out and it makes for dismal reading for one radio star in particular.

Despite inheriting a huge audience of 332,000 from Joe Duffy's ever popular Liveline, the latest figures show there's a drop in RTÉ Radio One listenership once Ray D'Arcy takes over on the airwaves at 3pm.

In the latest Joint National Listenership Research numbers Ray D'Arcy recorded 197,000 for July 2021 to June 2022. The last book, released in December 2021, saw him have a listenership of 210,000 meaning he's down 13,000. This dropped from a 2020 high of 242,000 for the show

close to 150,000 people actually get up and either turn their radio off or change stations when Ray starts

Definitely, I reckon Ray turned up to a Xmas party, camera in one hand and bowl of porridge in the other, tutting and judging everyone, while snapping away, and he scored gold

He would still be grossly overpaid. His salary warrants a tribunal

Roughly translated:

I foresee endless promos/ads/plugs for 'The Ray D'arcy show' over the coming months to try to claw back a few listeners so they can keep avoiding doing what they should've done 3 years ago.

Again, I refer back to my previous thoughts on the whole contractor house of cards falling if one of them gets turfed out.

It's lucky rte don't pay massive wages or the presenter's would be taking the piss.

Katherine Thomas in for Ray, She keeps her private life very private never heard her mention her family 😉

Not to mention her dog with the hot paws!

Is it part of D'Arcy's contract that wherever he takes one if his (frequent) holidays that his replacement must be a fellow member of NK management's extensive talent pool?

I find the comments about RTE not knowing what the reason behind the viewership drop is funny. I mean it’s not that bloody hard to figure out.

• the presenter can’t operate the equipment that’s needed to keep the programme going.
• he’s got a very condescending tone on air and believes it’s his duty to tell us his opinions.
• he doesn’t have the common courtesy to do even the most basic of research on his guests which leads to awkward interactions on air.
• he seems incapable of keeping time on his show and can’t go to the news in Irish on time on a regular basis and at times shows contempt for it.
• he’s incapable of carrying out quizzes on his show which as noted by recent posts leads to disastrous results.
