Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Germany hit the post. Looked like Earps got a crucial touch.

Great ball, great finish. No idea that the keeper was doing..

They we’re trying to play an offside trap but were caught out by a perfectly timed pass and run. That goal is more down to quality than weakness IMO, and I’d normally be fairly critical of the standard of defending in the women’s game.

The keepers starting position was way too deep. But it's a great ball and a great finish.

Think id like to see England win.

Keira Walsh can certainly pick a pass.

    Well that was coming

Germany responded well to going a goal down. All to play for now.

Great finish, Germany well worth an equaliser with some good play.

Two goals worthy of any final.

The co-commentator on BBC is very fair, calling the England tackles deserving of yellows when needed

Going to extra time. Don't want to see another Euros final go to pens.

Serious lack of testing the keeper with pop shots, someone needs to step up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,463 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Some tidy play there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Kelly gives England the lead. Some story if she wins it given she missed most of last season with a cruciate injury.

    Oh my goodness!!

Booked for getting her top off, pointless rule that.

Ref is very quick to blow against Germany at times.

England keeper has the same annoying habits of Mr Pickford

Ah jeez, don't play in the corner for 5 mins 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,704 ✭✭✭Schwiiing

Yellows for time wasting should be flying here. 2 minutes is a joke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,463 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

No play for last 50 seconds, good time wasting 😄

England deserved winners. They had quality but also grit when it counted. When they beat the Spanish, it looked like it was destined to be their year. Pleased for Kelly to get the winning goal. This should give a big boost to the profile of the WSL.

    Brilliant

I've been reading books about women's football history and in the UK they were beat down time and time again. This is amazing. 50 years ago this would never have been a possibility

The WSL is gonna be so attractive too

The England men’s national team could learn an awful lot from the women there as far as game management goes. They played a blinder since going 2-1 up.

I guess Liverpool will have to let womens team into the training ground and stadium now 🙏

Germany so unlucky to have lost 2 of their front 3 for the final.

I couldn't believe that England went into the corner with 5 minutes to go. Dark arts alive and well in women's football, too, so.

The ref was poor, beyond belief. Oberdorf and Stanway would have been off in any other game and as for VAR not seeing the ball being stopped from going in by Williamson. She added 2 minutes at the end, but could have added 2 more.

The two best teams got to the final but England got all the luck this time round. Massive turnaround in fortune for Jill "F*** Off" Scott after 2009.

Woo hooo! Fantastic, and such an enjoyable tournament. No aggro off the pitch, no booing anthems, thousands of kids in the crowd. Just lovely stuff.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Ya maybe but not just Liverpool that they don't train and play in the same place as the men. Don't get me wrong if its the same club the training places and quality should be the same

Women's World Cup is next July too in Australia/NZ. England could be in the mix for that as well. Plenty of interest and momentum to build on for the forseeable future. Would love to see Ireland reach that tournament.

Mostly morning games for us here for that tournament then, looking forward to it. The Aussies love their sport and hopefully they turn out in good numbers. Need a decent tournament from the Matildas to help with that.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Yes game times will be bad for Europe could've done with a European host plus its bang in the middle of the heated end of the NRL/AFL seasons so crowd no's could be a worry although NRL in particular is still majority male fans and can't see many of them taking an interest. Matildas are popular tho.
