One of the deaths reported in the N&S was the young nurse who fell asleep after a night shift on her way home from work and hit a lorry, that certainly wasn't a suicide.

true, but, theres really something seriously wrong with our health system

A long day endlessly vaccinnating folk - whatever about the stiff charges - a separate issue - is what the Doc is employed to do on that particular day ..

"1 or 2 minutes" you say.

Well if everyone goes into the clinic trying to get their "monies worth" for "1 or 2 minutes", Signs will go up in the clinic that The Doctor on call here is only dealing with vaccinations unless there are issues that will affect said vaccination eg .. i had a heart attack last week .. will this vax make matters worse ?

    - no, it won't / yes it will. End of

Grow up. Protest about prices if you will but pay for what you get. We all got "other ailments" we want addressed. Vaccination day is Not the time

No offence OP .. but it simply would Not work

How they justify charging an extra 25 Euro for it I dont know " ..

Wouldn't agree with you…….GP is turning into a production line’ pure and utter greed………I would like to know though what specialist ‘Covid advice’ the OP could have required from the GP that isn’t available for HSE web site…….?

and you got what you paid for, a consultation for travel vacinations.

If you wanted a general consult you should have booked that,

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

Still don’t really know why anyone needs to get a consultation about Covid and travel from a GP

I’d have thought they are well known for being a GP and pharmacy. What do people want from a GP? It’s not exactly a restaurant where you can expect to get value for money or maybe pay a bit extra for an enhanced experience. If you want an appointment then you go and you pay the money, if you don’t want to pay the money then don’t go. It really is as simple as that.

    Sorry just came accords this.

I’ve been in Rowe Craven nearly 12 years and unfortunately I can’t get out. Due to ongoing medical issues I need a doctor. Here are my thoughts:

*at least 2 of the reception staff are awful to deal with. I understand i don’t know what they have dealt with before i speak to them but I find them undermining and there’s a lack of customer service. I work in the public sector, I get my fair share of crap thrown at me but always treat the next person with compassion. I’ve had a few encounters with one person in particular in the past and now I just wait until someone else is free to approach the desk.

*Dr Rowe has no interest in treating patients, only promoting wellbeing and all the rest. I was in with him once and he treated me like a piece of dirt. He always seems to be available for appointments too.

    * the reason I am still there, as I have said I have ongoing issues. My doctor is currently on a leave of absence and they can’t tell me when they will return. The 2nd doctor I would see is on sick leave for 12 months at least. I hate seeing new doctors and repeating myself over.

OP I think in this instance the doctor could have listened to your concern for 1/2 minutes, and then could have said if a second appointment was needed. It’s hard enough to get an appointment up there as it is(unless you are happy to see Rowe!)

I have noticed they go through a lot of doctors up there; one will start and you'll get used to them and suddenly they're gone. I am constantly seeing a new doctor over the years, which is fine but it is hard for me and for them with them not knowing me from Adam. I also have experienced an issue with the receptionists but only one in particular - S, having a bad attitude when I'm nothing but polite if not overly polite, booking an appointment over the phone and showing up only to say she accidentally booked someone else in and there's nothing can be done about it only book again, finally ordering repeat prescriptions only for her not to actually order them for me. I'll never understand whether she hates people or where she works, maybe it's both! But I prefer to avoid her myself. I haven't been in a while so I don't know if she's still there or not.

Otherwise they have good parking and fantastic nurses!

come mon up the johns hill medical. a few doctors left Rowe craven and moved there. I have an absolute gent of a Scottish doctor. after lock down i think i was nearly an half an hour in there with him. always felt fobbed off in Rowe craven

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 LousClues

Trust me! 3 times this year I have tried to get in there but ‘the books were closed’ I put my kids in there when it first opened, my son loves the Scottish gent! Fingers crossed in the new year il get in.

Well there's a space there now because I've left.

Lack of care from two doctors that I dealt with. Found the practice to be very money hungry.

My prescription was sent incorrect to the pharmacy but wanted more money from me to correct it. Basically another appointment to discuss it.

Took me a while to get out of there and I'm so glad I did. The mental strain of dealing with them was enough

People forget that these are for profit businesses that only exist to make money. They are not there to look after peoples health. If you have a health concern you need to book an appointment and pay to deal with that. It can also take a certain level of aggression to get your health properly looked after in Ireland, which a lot of people are not really able for.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,252 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

ah, i call bullsh1t on this one, people dont forget that profiting is an element of such a practice, but when profiting becomes more of a priority over providing adequate care, we have a fcuking huge problem, people are not fcuking stupid, and people shouldnt have to fight for what they need, we re clearly experiencing a catastrophic failure of our health system, and we dont actually know what to do about it...

I did pay. Have no problem paying but won't pay to go in again and discuss the same problem and charge for them to rectify their problem

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭jackboy

Yeah they were stingy alright. They could have listened to you for a minute and then decided if another visit was warranted. My point is there are plenty who would have just ignored what they were saying and ploughed on with their issue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭Seanachai

This has been my experience, with anything serious I go fully private b/c the stress of dealing with the public health system would only add more stress.

We need an Irish NHS in this country. **** the neoliberal system

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,252 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

the nhs has been moving towards this model over the years also, hence why it to is also having very serious problems, but our health care needs have dramatically changed over the decades, and we havent advanced our systems to accommodate it, we re in deep sh1t now....

Spent the last half hour trying to get through for an appointment today no answer Absolute joke of a place, Got sorted in Family Care Medical Centre no bother.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,739 ✭✭✭Wanderer2010

Dont bother with Rowe Creavin, awful service. The turnover of doctors there is also huge which is never a good thing.
