The reviews for The Sandman look very, very good! Looking forward to getting started on that

It's old now, but I watched the first episode of Criminal UK and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Slightly contrived plot, possibly, but brilliantly put together and acted

Season 5 of Better Call Saul is a lot better than Season 4.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,609 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Jesus you aren't wrong really good reviews so far!

Loved Criminal UK (third one on way still last I read) the foreign language ones not as good.

Uncoupled the new Neil Patrick Harris /Darren Star show is kind of what I was expecting very watchable. Serious apartment porn!

Shocked at how under the radar it has gone, really enjoyable.

In a vaguely similar vein Q-Force is good fun.

I’ve been hearing terrible terrible things about the sandman! Like criminally bad altogether, hopefully they are wrong but to be honest even the picture of the main character looks terrible

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,609 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

I had literally not heard anything about it.

Odd they arent pushing it more. Certainly a lot better than that Emily in Paris twaddle.

I did really like younger (no idea how they got 7 seasons out of the basic premise) a lot, incredibly light and fun (Sutton Foster should be an absolute superstar) (maybe best to skip the "Irish" episode though...lol)

I came into this thread to ask people whether I should watch this as I looked up the cast and it’s big league. I’m tempted to watch it but saw some reviews that it’s a bit disjointed. Weirdly enough It was because I was watching contemporaneous news coverage of the watergate scandal that I looked it up. So it’s good that you liked it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,893 ✭✭✭appledrop

We really enjoyed it, but it is long( around 2 and half hours) so you would want to be in humour to watch that type of film.

It's not disjointed at all, it does go back and forward a bit in time but very clearly marked with timelines on screen.

You will know within 30mins of watching it whether it's for you or not.

Carter is some mad film - the action is insane with some great sequences

Netflix's game library reckoned to have only attracted 1% of its subscribers.

To be slightly generous to them, when it first launched (last year?) it was only available in Poland.

In saying that, I'm not really sure that it's going to be a big draw for them - one of those cases of people misunderstanding engagement metrics and confusing "this will kill a few minutes while I wait for a coffee/distract the kids on the bus" for "this will make me more likely to (continue to) pay for the service". The history of media tie-in games is starkly against them in terms of exploiting IP they have rights for, and based on the many mediocre-to-dumpster-fire films they've paid substantial money for, I don't anticipate them being any smarter with the quality of games they licence.

The biggest question, of course, is whether anyone would be persuaded to think "Netflix" for games instead of any of the other platforms that are already there, particularly since things like GamePass and Apple Arcade already exist and are functionally "Netflix (at its best) for games".

Finished Uncoupled tonight. Felt the series was two episodes too long. Loved the first five but then it started feeling contrived. And that ending was soooooo predictable

I Just Killed My Dad Limited Series (2022) Limited Series Anthony Templet shot his father and never denied it. But why he did is a complex question with profound implications that go far beyond one family.

Peter Rabbit (2018) In this mix of live action and CGI, rascally Peter Rabbit faces a tough new foe in his ongoing battle for the veggies in Mr. McGregor's garden.

I finished the last episode and I liked that they focused on one day an episode. I think Fred Durst and the lads get too much blame as they weren’t solely to blame but I do think they didn’t help a crowd that was pissed off.

The giving candles to nearly 200,000 people who’d spent at that point three days getting more and more annoyed and more and more drunk and had by that point pulled down a fence may in hindsight have been at best a poor call.

The pictures of the Petri dishes from the water was horrible.

John Scherr comes across as a colossal dick head who didn’t seem to care once he made his money.

Absolutely, I wouldn't blame the performers, it's the people who booked them that where at fault, what did they expect? The organizers admitted they knew very little about the performers they booked so that's on them.

Just on Netflix and gaming, there is some good stuff on there that's a nice little bonus for anyone who is subscribed anyway (all mobile games for now).

Poinpy - one of their big 'originals' in their gaming stand - is a delightful little timewaster. Harks back to the glory days of mobile games before monetisation ruined everything.

There's a mobile version of Into The Breach, the superb minimalist strategy game, downloadable via Netflix.

And Immortality, the new game from the creator of Her Story, is due to launch on Netflix too I believe.

Whether they'll stick with it is another thing entirely. But they're nice bonuses for a subscription I already have for now.
