Eire Og were 1 of the few clubs not to field an under 19 team in the championship and they gave walk overs in the Junior A league (they were in the relegation playoff for that last year), for a club with the resources and pick they have it's a disgrace how it's being ran.

NR not part of the Kilmaley coaching team so!

How come Billy Connors transferred to Wolfe Tones?

Clarecastle 1-14 O Callaghans Mills 1-14 result from the Clare SHC at Cusack Park. The mills led by 4 with 5 mins of normal time left before a Bobby Duggan inspired comeback for the magpies gave them a 1 point lead before Gary Cooney scored the leveller and the final score of the match.

Feakle v the Bridge at 3 today in Ennis.

Sixmilebridge put a very impressive tally of 1-31 in their 21 point hammering against a very poor Feakle in the second Clare SHC game today in the park.

The Bridge have been the most impressive team so far in the championship. Sean Stack is a serious operator, should be a future Clare hurling manager candidate once Lohan goes.

Not a hope will Stack ever manage a Clare senior team. He was a fiasco when he was a selector in the early 2000's. His time has passed.

Feakle were blown away by an organised Bridge team. Bridge are clear favourites for the championship now. Quality all over the field and plenty on the sideline. However, they won't really be tested now until the Q finals. Tactically Feakle tried a sweeper and it didn't work as the bridge won all the personal battles. The fact they only scored one goal is how easy it was. Will be hard for Feakle to recover from this.

Living in Shannon now by all accounts. Big addition to Wolfe Tones.

When is the next Clare county board meeting? The reason why I ask is because we will know by then what Colm Collins’ intentions for the Clare footballers for 2023? Will he stay or will he go?

I also presume that Brian O Connell will remain on with the Clare minor hurlers (likely to be U18 grade next year) and Mikey Neylon for the U20 footballers.

They're 2 seperate incidents, If you think the first one wasn't a penalty you've no business watching hurling, it's not even debatable

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,261 ✭✭✭Figerty

Took the ref, umpires and linesmen a long time to decide it was a penalty!

I heard that was more to do with not knowing which player broke the hurley!!!

Great win for the exciting young Corofin team v St Joseph’s Miltown Malbay by 0-18 to 1-14 in the Clare SFC opener in the park. Robin Mounsey immense with 0-6 from play. Cormac Murray with 9 points for the losers. Great game!

The defending champions Eire Og had one point to spare over Cusack Cup champions St Breckans. Gavin Cooney and Mark McInerney with their usual decent totals while Manus Doherty is going to be one of Clare’s great backs, outstanding stuff from the 21 year old townie.

Cratloe beat Doora Barefield 2-10 to 0-14. Podge played well for the winners while 21 year old Tom McDonald and Fionn Kelleher who still has one more year for the county’s U20’s next year also played well.

the fact that the first three games of the Clare SFC had less than a score margin in the end shows the rude health of the Clare SFC. The fact that there are 12 teams in the championship rather than 16, has greatly improved the race for Jack Daly while also improving the standard of the intermediate championship.

Cooraclare and Kildysart as expected came out on top with emphatic wins over Banner and Coolmeen in today intermediate championship openers. Banner were missing Shane Meehan due to a family bereavement.

Great entertainment in the Park today, Breckans came out of the blocks fast but Eire Og worked their way into it and did enough. The match up between McGann and Manus Doherty was good viewing, Manus edged it, he is a Rolls Royce of a player.

Corofin have hit the ground running, Robin Mounsey kicked 5 from play in the first half, Colm Collins may be giving him a buzz, the Cahills and Tom Rice very impressive and great to see a traditional ball winner at the edge of the square in Keane. Cormac Murray almost dragged Milltown over the line with a sensational display but it wasn't to be.

Great to see club ball being played on a pristine pitch in the sunshine it really gives an edge to talented players. An endorsement to the split season. It would have been much easier to shut down the likes of Mounsey and Murray in a quagmire.

Two good games for sure , especially enjoyed corofins brand of attacking football, they lack at the back but how they dissected the blanket Miltown defence was impressive

Breckans were the better team in the second game but literally done everything not to win the game , decision making is letting them down big time, even Joe Mcganns last possession highlighted that 3 minutes into stoppage time

It's probably something we need to work on as a county because the general standard of play is fairly high at the moment

Mick Bohan part of the Kilmurry Ibrickane management team and is in Miltown to oversee their game v Doonbeg today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 584 ✭✭✭Treble double

Mick Bohan is helping Quilty with a few years. I think these gurus get too much credit. If you have good players you will win if you don't you won't simple. The gurus will always gravitate towards successful teams. Vicki Wall bull dozed through much of Bohans coaching. Class players will always shine through no matter who is coaching for or sgainst them.

Reading some of the other county forums and it's the typical "what might have been this year" type of posts. The Laois GAA discussion board on gaaboard.com had one particular interesting post that suggests that Brendan Bulger who was the Clare U20 hurling coach this year and coached the Flannans U15 hurlers this year and is the current manager of Birr, I think (Offaly posters can clarify) is the new Laois manager in waiting. Any truth in this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 662 ✭✭✭supernova5

heard that also, other name bandied about for Laois job are Eamonn Kelly

  • Registered Users Posts: 662 ✭✭✭supernova5

scrap that I meant to say other candidate is Brendan Cummins

Would be a good appointment for Offaly, except that they will be playing a sweeper and Davy Fitz's tactics.

Smith O Briens 2-15 Inagh kilnamona 0-20 result in the Clare senior hurling championship. Massive massive shock in Shannon. Fair play to the Killaloe men! Massive scalp against last years county finalists.

Hardly a chance the lineups for that match are available anywhere?

Nice one for Smith O Briens. That's a nice one for South East Clare.

    Thank you

I think Inagh are missing a trick with their lineup in parts

ennistymon in football the same not trying to ruffle the feathers of the lafertys or the laikes of tal cullinans crew but both clubs are now almost twined , , and twined with the same problem, what is the best team , are we leaving too many senior players on the second team ect , inside forward line for the combo is poor at the moment . conor hegarty not starting is a terrible decision in my opinion

smiths are a deacent side ,mikey and david gough are fine hurlers and had great games today , nolan we all know about is at the peak of his powers lets hope he continues for the next 4 -5 years in the same vain , the two o'sheas for killaloe are fantastic as well i have been raving about mike for years now
