Bazunu added to his collection of worldie saves apparently. Haven’t seen it yet

Could be a long second half for Travers. 3-0 down at half time and Man City dominating going by stats. Over ten shots with five on target with Travers supposedly with a big point blank save in the first ten minutes to deny Foden.

Chiedozie carrying his good form from the end of last season into this season with his third goal in three games. 4-0 up against Reading who have Long and Hendrick starting for them.

The Norwich contingent could have a new manager soon enough. Not working between Dean smith and Norwich

Ebosele and Abankwah both on the bench for Udinese today against AC Milan.

He's probably been their go to player going forward as most attacking play is coming through him. Lovely cross for the assist today but the finish was something else. Like O'Dowda he's playing good so far this season but can they stay fit for September.

Parrott had the thankless task of playing the line CF role as Preston went 3-4-2-1 to have the extra midfielder against Lutons 3-5-2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,526 ✭✭✭glenjamin

Ebosele came on for his debut for the final 7 minutes as Udinese were trailing 4-2.

Delighted for O'Dowda. Would love to see him back in the squad as he definitely has something to offer.

Just hope all these wide players having a great start to the season doesn't give Kenny any notions about chancing 3-4-3 against Scotland.

Connolly on the bench for the Venezia opener.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,801 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Came off the bench late. I think he had one touch in the game, but he did create half a chance from it. Conditions look very tough in Venice, temperature was hot and the humidity seemed high.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,763 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

Got on for last two mins plus injury time as they were chasing the game. They lost 2-1 a at home to Genoa.

James McClean calling out abuse from home “supporters” at Wigan. An admirable character is James, has been consistent in his courageous fight against the racism that lurks under the surface in parts of England.

Out of contract at the end of the season and in form atm. Can possibly see him moving before the window closes even.

Finn on the bench for Getafe.

Parrott likely playing the lone CF role again tonight and Chiedozie also starting for Rotherham so should be a good game. Wouldn't be surprised if Kenny is at it as he was at Blackburn Vs West Brom on Sunday.

    Obafemi goal for Swansea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Good finish from Manning but he's scored a few belters in his career.

Good finish from Obafemi too and hopefully it settles him after two big misses so far this season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,763 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

Nice to see that from Obafemi. He basically gave a goal to his strike partner on Saturday when clean through on goal, probably sightly lacking in confidence from the misses you mentioned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Thought the same when I saw it and did take a bit of a heavy touch before passing it off. Though 0-0 in the 87th min he picked the right choice.

Parrott could do with finding the back of the net himself. Again he should have had a goal in the first half but hit it at the keeper. All round he's been very good but let done by his finishing. Brady has been excellent in the first half.

Watched the second half. Parrott just needs to keep plugging away. You can see his football intelligence in some of the stuff he does, but still think he isn't a Robbie Keane in terms of just knowing where to be in the box to sniff out a goal.

I thought Georgie Kelly done very well as the target man for Rotherham when he came on. Very good hold up play.

Nathan Collins had a decent week when looking at some of his stats. The Other 14 is a twitter page that focus on the stats of those outside the big 6 in the EPL. Collins was first in most progressive passing yards (646 yards), most progressive yards carried (256 yards), and third in most accurate long passes (6/8).

Unfortunately Sinclair Armstrong skied a guilt edged header at the death which would have saved QPR a point. He was pushed in the back blatantly but it’s not really mitigation

He's all round play was very good which is the main thing for us as he'll likely play in a front two. Yeah he's still young so hopefully will develop that a bit more and even the commentary mentioned at the end of the first half Brady had a chat with Parrott talking with him about his movements.

Speaking of Brady and I think he takes that LWB spot if fit. He's been very good for Preston so far this season and has linked up well with Parrott too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,763 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

Yeah I think you're right about Brady. On the face of it, it might appear like the move to Bournemouth didn't work out for him but I reckon it was the saving of his career. It provided him the chance to train regularly, stay fit, and play very occasionally, to essentially get his body used to what that was like again after all the injuries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,801 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Harsh. I caught his 25 minute cameo and was impressed. He's quick, he's got a good first touch, showed some nice movement/anticipation and was not afraid to get a shot off. I want to see more of him, but my initial hot take is that he looks a natural striker and that he's good enough to stick around at QPR this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,332 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

great to hear it. I missed his full cameo. I only caught the bit of a sitter he missed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Especially when he's played as the lone CF in his last two games it makes his performances more impressive for a lad that played out wide in League One last season for his best spell of the loan.

Definitely worth his while to stick around for the first half of the season and see what his playing time is like. Also the season started a week early but still finsihes the first weekend in May even though it breaks for the WC group stage so gonna be games coming thick and fast so should see decent minutes.

Watched the PNE V Rotherham game last night due to the amount of Irish players involved. It felt a very similar standard to watching the national team play actually. Was really impressed by Brady, he was very involved and they wanted to go down that side every chance they got. He put a lot of balls into the box with mixed results, his corners were generally OK I thought, but it looked to really suit him playing in that role and having a bit more space to run into. Would love to see him back in the national team if he can keep it up. Parrott was fairly good as well, thought he maybe could have scored but he was very involved in the game and showed a bit of class on the ball alongside a great work rate. A big change from the days when he struggled at Millwall.

Mark McGuinness looks to be on the move to Sheffield Wednesday who'll be pushing for promotion this season. Bagan will start this weekend with Collins injured. With a bit of luck he'll get a run of games before the play offs next month.

Conor Coventry gets his first start for West Ham in the first leg of the Conference League play off.

Couldn't ask for a nicer introduction to first team football at West Ham. If he can do the business he should get a lot of European football.

Surprised he's starting ahead of Flynn Downes but glad to see West Ham give him the start. Hopefully West Ham can qualify for the group stage and with a bit of luck put a few past Viborg so Okoflex maybe gets a run out tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭Xander10

    Downes is injured.

He has done alright FH. The tempo of the game is a bit like a pre season friendly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Coventry done alright playing 82mins before being replaced by Fylnn Downes. Kept it tidy and simple but a massive bang of pre season friendly off that game. Think West Ham will regret not going for Cullen when he was going so cheap. Coventry and Downes as 3rd and 4th choice could come back to bite them.

Wednesday should be up there challenging so another season of experience while playing for team that should hopefully do good. Last season was rough with Cardiff being poor so looked iffy at times but Cardiff in general were iffy. With the year away he can hopefully come back and prove to Morrison he should be starting or get a loan to another championship team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,801 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Thought Coventry did ok overall. Didn't make many mistakes, kept the passes simple and put in a lot of yards over the course of his 85 minutes. Criticism was that he was probably a bit too conservative with the passes, also seemed to struggle a bit with the physicality of the Viborg players who seemed to have the better of him in the 50:50's. Honestly, think he looks a bit of the standard to make at West Ham.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭Xander10

Agree with that. They stated yesterday that Downes wouldn't start because of a knock so was not expecting him to feature.

He might have a little less conservative with Rice beside him.

West ham fans don't think he will cut it in the PL.

Queens Park Rangers will host a swab centre outside Loftus Road on Saturday to try to find a bone marrow transplant match for a close family friend of the defender Jimmy Dunne. Daniel Greer, a 14-year-old diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), urgently requires a blood stem cell donor and Dunne is determined to help in the “race against time”

“I’m asking Rotherham fans as well as QPR fans, and the community of football as a collective,” Dunne said. “It has a greater meaning than how important the football match is to people. We are obsessed with football and it’s our lives but there are people out there literally fighting for their lives. The more people that show up, the more likely we are to find a match.”

Dunne has requested DKMS to send QPR testing kits and after raising awareness with his teammates in recent days and he hopes to reach out to more clubs. “I have discussed it with some of the lads,” Dunne said. “It has shocked some of them a little bit. It is still really fresh but the staff have been great and very supportive. Going forward, after this game on Saturday, it is something I’m going to talk more about and hopefully we can get test kits sent out to every football club, or as many as want to take part.”

Greer was diagnosed with AML in June and after chemotherapy was told he would require a bone marrow transplant. There is no single cure but a blood stem cell donation from a genetically similar person can offer the best treatment and a second chance at life. “Daniel is a young musician in my mum’s orchestra, a really joyful, talented young man and a wonderful, happy kid,” Dunne said. “It is very urgent and a race against time.”

Only 2% of the UK population are registered as potential blood stem cell donors. “It is such a low figure,” Dunne said. “It is a matter of making people aware and getting people to register. Three out of four people diagnosed with blood cancer don’t find a match. On the DKMS website people can fill out a form, get a swab test sent to their house and they could save a life.”

    Fair play to Jimmy Dunne..

Omobamidele playing for Norwich in ther win tonight, Idah not on bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Idah was only back in training with the seniors this week. Had to have fluid taken from his knee two weeks ago which delayed his return to the seniors. Smith said he should be available for the EFL cup game Tuesday.

Omobamidele had a good game tonight and only just turned 20 two months ago. Norwich have him under contract for the next four years at least, so are gonna get a very nice fee when he moves in the next couple of years.

McGuinness looked one of the better Cardiff defenders from what I saw last season. Surprised he's been frozen out quite frankly. Maybe they're trying to play out a bit more from the back, and McGuinness doesn't suit that style 🤔
