    Dublin, no question about it.

If COC was available to the Dubs it's very likely they would have beaten Kerry. Therefore, there is no reason to suggest that they wouldn't too have relatively easily beaten Galway in a final.

    Dubs will say Dublin.

    Everyone else it's Galway.

I don't know about that. I was at Dublin v Kerry as a "neutral" I was going for Kerry.

But id say it would be very 50/50 who would have won. I wouldn't like to put my house on it.

Galway, dublin defensive poor all year I think Galway could have won by 4 or 5 points. Dublin played beyond themselves v Kerry and Kerry were poor on the day

I'm from neither county and couldn't see how Galway would beat Dublin in a final.

Any objective analysis would point to a Dublin win.

Galway had a relatively easy run to the final - I don't think they are a better team than Dublin in any rational manner.

Remember Kerry beat a depleted Dublin from the last kick of the game whereas they bet Galway by 4 points. That in itself should point towards a Dublin win in a scenario where they met Galway in the final.

Dublin would have beaten Galway, I say that as a Galway fan, as was shown in the final we just didn't have the strength in depth to finish the match. Also Dublin's experience of All Ireland final day would have played a huge part if they got to the final, remember Kerry started poorly as they were under massive pressure to win an All Ireland, Galway took advantage of that, Dublin wouldn't have been under that same pressure to win as Kerry, plus COC would likely to be fit as well.

    That's fanciful thinking.

Galway's defense had more spectacular meltdowns over the course of the year, i.e. Roscommon (league final), Mayo, Armagh and a few instances in the final.

Galway aren't at the level of Dublin just yet. People are writing off the Dubs after a couple of bad years when they didn't have much luck go their way. They're definitely declining under Dessie Farrell but they still are the best team in the country on their day imo.

What I will say is that if Galway can get somebody in charge of the woeful kickout strategy and add a few impact players instead of the likes of O'Laoi to the bench they could consistently a top 3 team for the next 5 years. Players like Glynn and Tierney will only get better too.

Dublin didn't make to the final. So a pointless question

I thought Dublin were only missing one main player - Con O'Callaghan

If they did make the final it would be a pointless question.

A pointless contribution considering you read the topic of the thread. Good man.

Dublin imo but now having played in a final, and a season of division 1 football ahead of them, I’d fancy Galway v Dubs this coming year.

Dublin and just as easy as Kerry won it. Had O Callaghan been fit a 7-10 point win

Dublin would have won it by 4/5 points IMO, Galway would have stuck with them for around 55 mins but then Kilkenny, Fenton, McCarthy et al would kicked it up a gear and drove them on to victory. Similar to their second half performance against Kerry, but against an inferior team and without the half time deficit they had in that game.

Considering Dublin have either won the final or lost a semi final every year for the past 12 seasons, I don't think this year would have been any different had they gotten to the big day.
