Blocked like half of Irish people on twitter with an interest in rugby. No idea why.

That ticket link is active now. Got a ticket for East Stand 503 for €48. Certainly in the heavens but not a bad price for a European Cup final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Seems to be golden tickets only. Picked up 2 in East stand upper for 250e including fees. Not cheap considering the 50% discount but at least no flights to pay for. Would be handy to get a breakdown of fees for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,620 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Yeah I read its 50% off the Challenge Cup Final ticket rather than the whole package.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yup tis that alright. 125 each for both. Could be 100e say for champions cup and then 50e for challenge cup before discount. Was in similar seats for Munster v Toulouse and they were great so don't mind paying. Guess will see a breakdown once can buy single tickets

Got two tix in the nosebleed section of the East Upper but pretty central. 43 bucks each + fees, if an Irish team gets there it will be the best investment of my life, if not, it's still decent value for two matches.

Having just spent €894 on a day trip to Marseilles next week, I can almost guarantee that the final being in Dublin next year means Leinster won't be in it. Be like 2013 all over again *cries into credit card bill*

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,530 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Jaaaaysis. That is some amount to watch a game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

The seat map is available now. Didn't seem to be earlier when I booked. Presume there was only limited number for this sale but say there could be strong interest between here and UK say given how close it is.

Same dialhard, going next week and picked up tickets for next year, the credit card is melting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,970 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

I still haven't cleared the Leicester trip. Thank god we had a home semi!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,240 ✭✭✭crisco10

Have to say, a terribly timed presale with all the marseille expenses going out the door. If I do partake, I will need to hide it from the other adult in my household!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,247 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Picked up 2 tix for the premium level on the 10m line.

    ~€280 😵‍💫

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭Jayno66

Tickets for the final went on general sale today, no longer need to buy weekend tickets together with Challenge Cup final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭hold my beer

Did we not just buy cc final tickets at the start?

Finally confirmed that it's the exact same pool format as the last two seasons.

Also thanks to Leinster and Ulster losing last weekend, London Irish, Exeter, Clermont and Lyon are definitely traveling to SA.

    Draw on 28th June too.

Is this going to be on BT sports again??

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

The current deal is up and a new one hasn’t been announced. At least a good chance that BT (or whatever they will be called once the merger with Eurosport goes through) will retain the rights. Some rumours of an eight year deal but that would seem very long by U.K. standards.

Would you know offhand what's the latest on that merger out of interest ?

Exact fixture dates due out in late September/early October according to reply on their twitter account

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

Strange that the new TV deals haven’t been announced at this late stage though I suppose with the competition not starting till December it gives them a bit more time than if it were the old October start. Afaik that’s what’s holding up announcing the KO times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yup seems to be the case alright. Text pf their tweet: "We're just in the final throws of confirming our broadcast partners for the next few seasons and hope to share them with you all towards late September/early October. Bear with us:

Anyone any ideas when the TV deal is gonna be announced? I'm looking at changing provider at the moment and ordinarily would add in the Sports Extra (Premier and BT) package. Would I be safe enough still going with that?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

You’re never safe till a deal is announced. The last rumour I heard had the main rights going back to BT for a long period, but who knows except EPCR really!

Long term, both parts of the Sport Extra package are changing hands in the next couple of weeks (BT Sport to Warner Bros Discovery, Premier Sports to Viaplay) and who knows what the new owners might do though I expect the package to hang around at least one more season. Now (TV) is a PAYG deal if you don’t want to get tied down to a provider long term.

Cheers for this; typically went the Now TV option previously but would prefer to go thru a provider, just for the recording / watch-back option rather than live streaming. Might just hold tight for now to see what happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

    Still no fixtures.

What else could they possibly do to make a once great competition a bit more sh1t???

on the 8th sept they said fixtures would be out last week and no sign of them.

Two pool games is crap enough for those wishing to travel without getting time to arrange said travel.

What a shower of contemptuous pricks running this competition.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

The French rights were announced last week. They will get there but they cannot announce the fixtures without a TV contact in place. There is supposed to be an announcement of the U.K. /Ireland rights soon, possibly as soon as this week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23 hibknight

The time slots of the games are surely already fixed and the same as last year, I think they should still be able to announce the fixtures and when they are. The champions league draw happened on a Wednesday or Thursday and they had their fixtures out by Saturday afternoon and they have a lot more broadcasters and regions to deal with. UK and Ireland I am assuming are still going to be showing each champions cup game and likely French broadcasters the same (if not, all the games with the French teams) so I don't see why the confirmed dates and times can't be fixed already.

Assuming this is Sky you're talking about, you can cancel the Sports Extra (and any other package other than the basic TV one) with 30 days notice.

The year long contract is only for the basic tv package.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Their Twitter account replied to someone on 14th saying it would be within the week. Don't think they'll be out by tomorrow so maybe following week or week ending 7th Oct. That would fit with their original timeline of late September/early October.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

They posted on the 8th on their site it would be next week.

At this rate they may as well wait to post the amlin cup so wasps and worchester can go bust and then figure out the rearranged fixtures.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Looks like tv deals are confirmed for next season. RTE showing 1 game per pool and the final. Should we expect white smoke on the fixtures soon so?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

Looks like a massive problem with the last FTA deal has been rectified, there will be fixtures featuring Irish teams in every round of the group stages.

previously VMTV were tied to showing the same games as Channel 4.

Its a two year deal which is unexpectedly short given what was been mooted.

edit: BT retain pay rights, looks like U.K. FTA rights have moved to ITV and in Wales S4C.

    Thats comical.

RTe have published some of the fixtures before the ERc organisers of the competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Just saw. Sums up the communications of fixtures this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Just in case it gets taken down because there is nothing the ERC hates more than fans knowing fixtures apparently

    • Sunday 11 December: Munster Rugby vs. Stade Toulousain, 1515 kick-off
    • Friday 16 December: Leinster Rugby vs. Gloucester Rugby, 2000 KO
    • Saturday 14 January: Munster Rugby vs. Northampton Saints, 1515 KO
    • Saturday 21 January: Leinster Rugby vs. Racing 92, 1515 KO

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

It’s a much better deal than VMTV got. Better kick off times, a prime time game (albeit on one of the worst nights of the whole year to have a prime time game), and Irish teams in every round.

Wonder why it’s only two years. Another format change contemplated perhaps, maybe the mooted World Club Challenge?

another interesting facet, as the only Welsh team in the Heineken Cup, the Ospreys will have guaranteed FTA coverage of all pool stage games this season on S4C. S4C also get one Welsh game in the European Challenge Cup bringing that tournament back to FTA for the first time in a good many years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Or in other words, people wont pay to watch the ospreys

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

Well more like S4C are a Welsh broadcaster, and want to show Welsh teams, and the Ospreys are the only Welsh team in the competition.

ITV will show English teams, Scottish fans are unfortunately shafted (again) with only pay tv coverage, same as the URC.

Or people wont even watch scottish teams even if its free!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,866 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Wonder what impact if any the home games being on RTE will have on attendances? Guess the people who go to games anyway will go anyway so maybe marginal. Might reduce people having to go to the pub if they don't have BT say :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Thats a fair point because saturdays for people with kids tends to be activities, sports, parties etc etc

Easier put on the telly for two hours than 5/6 hours going to a game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,330 ✭✭✭Former Former Former

There's an argument that FTA coverage means greater exposure which brings people in the gates, but sure who knows?

Anyway, this deal is a big step up from the Virgin coverage.

The League of Ireland would argue that its not good, but LOI is a different puppy
