Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had to look up most of these people but a word of advice, if you don't want to know who these people are don't watch RTE or listen to 2FM.

I met her first husband twice (he's a friend of a friend) very nice man. I've no idea whether or not he's in a relationship with anyone now, but he really was a lovely guy and deserves someone much nicer than her.

    He had a lucky break.

    He had a lucky break.

    I dunno, she’s a very attractive woman.

One would have to imagine that he’s still getting some mileage out of the “highlight reel”.

From all accounts hes not a fame hungry attention seeker. Hes just an ordinary down to earth nice guy.

This cnut, she should f(uk right off and learn to book properly in future. Its not like the kids were on their own

It's her language she used to describe the man to the air personnel and her belief of self entitlement.

I would say without knowing her that she is a horrible person.

You beat me to it. I was just about to post it. Why exactly is she a celebrity? Does she actually do anything other than adverts for washing powder? We've all made booking mistakes, if you politely ask someone to switch seats with you and you say no then you suck it up and make sure you don't repeat the error. The only t**t in this is her. The fact that she posted that rant expecting lots of people to side with her speaks volumes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 414 ✭✭dorothylives

I don't know them either, but if they're as bad as those 2 lads in the Free Gaff TV ad then they must be avoided at all costs. My God, whenever I see that clip for that show I have to grab the remote and change channels. Who actually watches that trash?

Vogue Williams has done a good bit of TV presenting. Up to that incident, I didn't understand the hate of her. But that was appalling behaviour. Imagine being a staff member and having to deal with someone using that kind of language.

Usually though, vitriol towards presenters seems to be just for the sake of it. I mean what's so terrible about Mairead Farrell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,025 ✭✭✭✭GBX

Sick of seeing Vigue Wolljams on every show, ad and every second social media post. Shes a plague

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,039 ✭✭✭✭EmmetSpiceland

Mairead is a successful woman in the public “sphere”. Some angry lad will be along to point of that she didn’t take her first husband’s surname and that she’s only after money from her current one. Or some nonsense like that.

I’m not even sure she’s said anything WOKE(all caps) or leans too heavily into “promoting” feminism. She’s just a successful, good looking, woman and that’s enough to attract the ire of sad internet losers.

Once again any criticism of female radio and/or tv personalities is just sexism in the eyes of some on boards. Nothing to do with quality of their presenting skills….roll eyes.

Such utter nonsense. The biggest thread on boards is The Liveline Thread, where Joe Duffy is filleted daily. Last time I checked he’s still a man, and still identifies as a man - despite having bigger boobs than most women.

Only in 2FM because of who her oul lad was and even at that the only gig they could give her is showbiz news.

Still wondering what the hatred of Mairead Farrell is about. Seems just to be for the sake of it. And she looks good to me.

Watching a re-run of Deirdre O'Kane "interviewing" Jason Byrne on RTE last night for a few minutes before I changed channel was almost vomit-inducing.

O'Kane was completely gushing all over Byrne, who is a dreadful "comedian" IMO and a one-trick pony. RTE Montrose really is a cosy little den of nepotism, favouritism and "celebs" circle jerking each other and all utterly detached from the real world.

    Vogue Williams

    Conor McScumbag

Rory Cowan, though I'd hardly call him a celebrity, last year when covid restrictions eased he threw a tantrum on twitter over some pub or restaurant not being open on the first day of restrictions being eased and then threw a tantrum over even the mildest of criticism

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,530 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

Re Vague. People dislike so-called celebs being pushed on them, esp those with no discernible talent.

Vague indeed. Prior to her recent outburst, that doesn't explain hatred of her as a person.

Not sure what was so bad about her as a presenter either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,597 ✭✭✭smilerf

I followed him on Facebook for a while

He sits in the Trocadero all day waiting for someone well known who can accidentally bump into cough

Thinks he is hilarious too with really bad jokes

Mairead Farrel is unreal and she's been around for years it feels like , i remember I had a massive crush on her when she was on the Ray Darcy Show on today FM

Can't stand Vogue Wiiliams either , don't know what it is about her but her face just annoys me ,

Sometimes you'd feel sorry for Vogue and then you hear about her flight incident and you see why she might get stick online.

Vogue is one of those people who are famous for being famous, and that's literally all they have!

Good luck & fair play to her for carving a living out of that fame, but she's not my cup of tea..

But then when you read those stories about the tantrum on the aircraft because she made a booking mistake, then she doesn't really endear herself to the neutrals out there....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,849 ✭✭✭✭freshpopcorn

    Spencer is loaded.

I can't remember where I say it but they were these people joking ''Vogue, What attracted you to the millionaire?''

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,729 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

A quick check on Wikipedia says she's just had 3 kids in quick succession with this Spencer guy... so she's a smart woman!!!

No doubt when they eventually separate, she'll be on a good wage/maintenance of €20k a month to raise the kids...

What became of those other two stupidly monikered ones from Fade St? One of them was called something like Coco.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭santana75

Yeah I was gonna say Vogue aswell. That incident on the plane recently was shocking, I mean the level of self awareness with her seems to be in the minuses. The entitlement is off the scale, expecting that man to vacate his seat and then hurling insults at him when he chose not to move. I've seen this scenario play itself out in different forms, weddings, at the theatre, cinema.......someone expecting another person to shift so they can sit beside a friend/spouse or relative. Fair enough, if someone decides on their own volition to surrender their seat and move, thats up to them, but this idea that someone SHOULD make way for you..........no way. One line comes to mind: Those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Divine justice is real and when it eventually comes for Vogue(which is will)it'll be absolutely brutal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,524 ✭✭✭the_pen_turner

the worst part is he did move and she still insulted him .

That the kicker, hurl abuse at someone to get your own way and then use that as publicity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭santana75

And I can guarantee you that she never "asked" him to move in the first place. 100% she told him to move, she gave him an order.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,263 ✭✭✭alan partridge aha

She's that "thick" as my mother would say that she thought by putting her side of the story would garner sympathy but in fact it only brings antagonism for her.

    Silly wagon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭sprucemoose

i still think the highlight of irish tv was when tommy tiernan had no clue who she was when she went on his show

    'what do you do vogue?'

population of ireland has been asking that same question for ages

cici kavanagh, think shes a DJ now. Paul was the best though, some say he'll turn up at EP this year to tell everyone to **** off

Wow. Such irreplaceable talent. Why hasn't the Beeb snapped her up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,812 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Vogue is famous for marrying Brian McFadden. She was always a dose. It doesn't surprise me at all about her outburst on a plane recently. Apparently she only wears an item of clothing once too. A great revelation when people are struggling to pay bills. She is tone deaf.

Those documentarys she did for RTÉ were shite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,325 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

Your name's Fugue. Her name's Vogue? Coincidence?

    Yeah. Probably is a coincidence.

I... don't recall even hinting that.

People keep saying she does nothing, is famous for being famous etc, and it's dishonest. She also did a fairly good job as presenter. It kinda seemed like hate for hate's sake.

That was before the recent incident though, in which she behaved like a right weapon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,729 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

People keep saying she does nothing, is famous for being famous etc, and it's dishonest. She also did a fairly good job as presenter.

The issue people will have though is how did she get those jobs presenting? Was it off the back of her own hard graft, or was it because she was famous for being famous, and with all things RTÉ, they incorrectly assume that a social media following will translate to good viewing figures if they stick that same social media 'personality' in front of a camera.....

That could be said about numerous people though.

It certainly is unfair when some social media "celeb" gets the presenting gig instead of someone who has worked hard for years doing "stand-in" work, but that's the media for you, and it's more to blame than the individual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,729 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

That could be said about numerous people though.

It could indeed, but for the most part, these people generally know how lucky a break they got, and try to keep the head down and ride the gravy train for as long as they can.... and good luck to them..

With this sort of toxic 'me me me' behaviour, Vogue isn't doing herself any favours.... and even the likes of RTÉ & Aeriel could decide its not worth being associated with brand Vogue anymore when public opinion has firmly gone against her due to her true colours being brought to the fore....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,365 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I believe Vogue main income these days is from being an influencer, and she is making a lot out of it similar to Rosanna Davison. Oh I got 3 babies so now I can influence all women. Plus she can probably pick and choose whatever reality tv shows she may go on, eg I bet if she wanted to do the jungle get me out of here she could probably command at least half a million. Then Spenny comes from millionaire family with royal connections, and money breeds money as he would have few different businesses on the go as well as the business of celebrity, which they are both in. They are totally minted. They have recently built a big house in her home area of Swords. She doesn’t need to DJ anymore!!
