Are Tatoos Naff?

I don't think we've ever had a thread on tattoos in AH.

Also unusual for a thread here to be bitching about other people's personal preferences that have no effect on anyone else. A refreshing change.

I have several tattoos, I neither regret them nor are they an important part of my identity. They are just something I like and have liked for a long long time.

They are visible when I want and can also be covered. I dont particularly care what anyone thinks of them but if someone has questions about them I'll answer. However if someone tries to enforce their view of them on me, they'll be quickly told how little I care about it.

Do some people regret their tatoos or consider them an important part of their identity?

Well to answer your question OP.

I think some people regret there tattoos but the majority would not. Providing they didn't get something stupid when they were blind drunk.

In years to come will people regret getting I'd say some might but I'd say they'd always be improving technology to remove them.

In general tough people are fairly happy with them.

Maybe you should try talking to people instead of staring at them from your high horse.

Might result in a more fun trip.

Bad ones are, the prison-grade crudely drawn kind.

Flegs and Brit/Provo stuff are seldom a good look.

Common and overdone ones, doggy paws on tits/tramp stamps/Asian characters which probably read 'fried rice'.

Most will age poorly, like the clothes you wore in your teens and 20s will look odd on you when you're in your 30's and 40's. Unique, ageless tattoos are where it's at, not following a design trend.

I think most tattoos are awful, maybe a few small tattoos look OK it think anyone who has a large tattoo on arm, neck , leg look awful

They show this person is an idiot , chav or someone who has absolutely no taste. It's funny people get a tattoo of their girlfriends name and break up after 6 months if you look at crime documentarys most criminals have tattoos

If you get a tattoo it should not be visible when you are wearing a shirt

I think some people get a lot of tattoos as a way of showing off , eg i, m so daring, different, creative,

People are strange heard on a podcast Frank skinner met a male fan who had a tattoo of Frank's face on his chest,

Some people get a tattoo of a random Chinese word cos it looks nice I think all tattoos over a certain size are awful even if the art is of a high standard

Yes I think that are naff just like m performance stickers on bmws and those 3d number plates.

IF you can see someones tattoo from 15 foot away its too big, anyone i see with a sleeve tattoo i presume they are a boxer, wrestler, or a criminal ,drug user or an egomaniac ,or someone who is self obsessed , like women who get lip injections or botox injections trying desperately to look like a kardashian or some idiot on love island. i have no problem with someone who gets a tattoo on their arm,back ,neck if its small .

i have no idea why someone gets a large tattoo on their arm or their neck ,its like look at me, i,m cool, tough, am i not cool, i,d say 90 per cent of men in prison have a tattoo.Tattoo,s used to be mostly popular with ,gangsters, criminals, punks ,artists , weirdos, serial killers ,

eg a sign of someone extreme who wants to be outside normal society.

I see it's become a fashion to have them on your calves nowadays. Which I usually see of guys wearing shorts in cold weather walking an aggressive looking dog.

So getting a tattoo is not respecting yourself ?
