This dude's been just about banned from every social media site/app. Not good for him at all.

What does everyone else think of this controversial character?

Hadn't heard of him before this week. Hopefully won't hear of him again after this week.

I thought he was an old Emmerdale character when I first heard the name!

I found him funny to be honest but I got bored of seeing him. Shouldn't be banned for stating his opinion.

He had a genius marketing strategy - I think it boiled down to a pyramid scheme, where he would get users to post social media videos of him, and they recruit others to do the same etc

IN the space of a few months he went from relative nobody to front page news

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 330 ✭✭cezanne

He wasnt banned over his comments on women as many women commented on his little out bursts he was banned when he highlighted the destruction the mining of lithium was to the planet for all the electric cars ,and he also said having electric cars was just another way for the control to be effective, of course by switching off the power ! Banned immediately under the guise of women hating. Very interesting hes been rabbiting on about women for months but as soon as he talks politics and climate .......off the platform.

Didn't he attack a woman or something?

Sounds like he would fit in well with some here

He also received backlash in 2017 when, at the height of the #MeToo movement, he tweeted that women should “bare some responsibility” for being sexually assaulted, amid other widely criticized statements appearing to blame women for the abuse and harassment they receive. Twitter permanently suspended his account that year.

So it was about climate change then?

I seen a couple videos about him and they showed clips of him being interviewed, what a complete and utter knob. I'm sure the people that like him are of a certain type.

Doesn't he reside in Romania now as they have more lenient laws towards sexual assault? Definitely nothing to see here.

hates women and operates a ponzi scheme.

I'm pretty sure my post made it clear that it wasn't.

Had some decent points when he first appeared a few years ago about the majority of men lacking fitness and the desire to better themselves but the disappeared down the rabbit hole when he became an ironic icon of the incel basement dwellers.

    Neither had I.

This clearly marks him out as a complete c*nt though

    Ah god that's just upsetting.

Even the most ardent "freeze peach" person would find that too much.

Some people don't deserve to be given a platform (Alex Jones is another one) because they are simply cruel, and it's nobody else's doing but theirs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,058 ✭✭✭✭anewme

That is just unreal. Horrible person. More concerning that anyone would look up to this ignorant fool.

I'm a relative nobody and I'm fine with that if making the front page news involves being a complete cnunt.

There are plenty like him [Tate] around the world. They stand on their platform and play to their audience... making a few bob along the way. I care not an iota for his likes and ignore them completely. One day he will be old and frail and unable to do anything without a home help of some kind. No one can beat 'old father time'

I don't know that much about him, just that he is always on my Tik-Tok feed. My understanding is that he didn't actually break any of the user agreement on Instagram and that he didn't even have a Tik-Tok account.

It seems like it was basically a collision between the platforms to collectively ban him. A bit wierd considering he wouldn't be some sort of extremist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,638 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

Instagram disagree. And he apparently did have a tiktok account

A spokesperson for Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, confirmed to NBC News on Friday that the company removed Tate's official accounts from the social media platforms for violating the company's polices on dangerous organizations and individuals. The spokesperson also confirmed that the ban is permanent. Before the ban, Tate had 4.7 million followers on Instagram.

A spokesperson for TikTok said on Monday that following an investigation by the platform, an account belonging to Tate has been permanently banned. TikTok is using software to identify and remove re-uploads of videos found to violate its Community Guidelines, the spokesperson said, as well as flagging certain content so it won't be recommended to users' For You feeds.

Heard Joe Rogan was praising the guy recently. The world needs more toxic masculinity, we just don’t know it.

Saw a couple of clips of Tate, thought he sounded like a complete douchenozzle. No harm that impressionable young people won’t be “exposed” to his nonsense now.

It's not. Someone is just unable to acknowledge sh1tty behaviour.

    Indeed.

Read a thread on Reddit by a high school teacher who noticed some of the young men in her classroom (14/15 year olds) were suddenly becoming much more hostile towards her and openly challenging her and discipline was becoming a problem. She discovered they were watching and sharing this guy's clips amongst themselves.

No there's just recognition of when someone is being psychopathically cruel.

What is it with the cognitive dissonance that's resorted to, to downplay the behaviour/abdicate responsibility of people like Tate and Alex Jones?

Joe Rogan is rarely off the mark we do need a few alfas, i personally prefer them to the hysterical ones we have now weak, full of feelings, crying wearing skinny jeans that are lowering the sperm count by the day. Bring a few alfas back please !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 330 ✭✭cezanne

People are all hating on Tate and ignoring the fact that 3 platforms can decide what you can listen to or not. But the same platforms cant interfere in small children accessing porn ! Whose taking who for the proverbial ride, wake up look at the free speech suppression that is over active now !

No idea who this lad was until I opened this thread or what he believes in although the snippet a few posts back from the fundraiser page makes me think he's a Grade A Arsehole.

But his freedom of speech is not being suppressed. Twitter, Facebook, etc. can let whoever they like on their site - they own it. If they wanted to ban anyone who supports Man United or Liverpool they can.

If you think that Joe Rogan is rarely off the mark, you are most likely in his target audience, which isn't that bright. That audience isn't completely intellectually retarded or anything like that, so I wouldn't worry too much, it's just on the lower end of the scale. In much the same way as dumb women are into things like astrology and MLM scams and being told that they're awesome/beautiful, dumb males are into crypto, conspiracy theories and being told that they're alphas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,940 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

They guys a genius ,he has used social media platforms to his advantage and has earned a packet and become basically world famous in about 6 months,

Now i don't agree with a word that he says & i doubt he does either but he has a plan & its worked,

It's also quite enjoyable to see some types get so upset by him , he is obviously playing a character & becoming hated is part of the game plan ,

Best course of action is to just ignore him until he goes away

Freedom of speech doesn't cover taunting the parent of a very ill child.

If a muslim guy or a trans woman said the same stuff about women, his fans would suddenly be concerned about misogyny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,844 ✭✭✭py2006

I never heard of him until recently and I saw a couple videos online. He's arrogant and obnoxious but he made some very good points about men and today's society and how to battle depression etc.

I didn't see the other stuff that got him banned but an article in today's Times suggests that a video of him hitting his gf with a belt was sort of thing they did together. :-/

I know people won't even entertain the thought, but if you think for yourself, Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan don't always get it wrong. And I say that as a woman with feminist leanings. Give me them before this awful scumbag any day.

"Don't always get it wrong " is a very low bar

I wasn't being literal. What I mean is they're nowhere near as horrendous as they're made out to be.
