    Galway 0-0 Treaty

Very nice point for Treaty tonight away to a quality Galway side. Galway had the better of things early on, and for most of the match really, but never turned their possession into chances. Treaty had the best chance of the first half when a Ludden ball to the far post was cut back for Enda Curran, but he skewed his shot so badly it went out for a throw.

Galway stepped it up a gear in the second half, but again strugged to fashion true chances. Their best chance came when a deflected freekick found the head of ex-Limerick player Killian Brouder who instinctively headed towards goal, but Conor Winn pulled off an excellent save and the ball was cleared away. Right at the death they had one more chance when a player fired just the wrong side of the post after a bit of a scramble in the box, with half the crowd thinking it was in, but it was the side netting, and immiedately, the ref was blowing the full time whistle.

Next game: home versus Cork, Monday June 27th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-5 Cork

Cork dismissed a weakened Treaty side with ease this evening.

We actually started ok and matched them more or less for the first 15 minutes, but they scored a well worked goal, another on 30 minutes when Conor Winn missed a cross, and then 2 in 2 minutes just before halftime and it was all over.

They took their foot off the gas a bit in the second half and were still doing all the attacking. Treaty were manful but just not able to match them at all, and we gave away a silly 5th when Winn mishit a clearance straight to a Cork player who teed up a teammate for a finish to an empty net.

Next game: away versus Cobh, Friday July 1st, 7.57pm.

    Cobh Ramblers 0-2 Treaty

    (Own goal, Armshaw)

Was just going by updates for this one. We went one up when a Cobh player turned a Matt Keane cross into his own net. Treaty seemed to be the better side for the first halt.

In the second half Cobh seemed to be getting on top, and forced Brady into a couple of saves, but it was Treaty who got the goal on the hour thanks to substitute Willie Armshaw, who had been on the pitch a matter of seconds. Cobh continued to press and hit the bar late on, but it's a valuable three points for Treaty.

Next match: home to Longford, Friday July 8th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 3-0 Longford

(Ludden penalty, Curran 2 (1 penalty))

Super win tonight against one of the better teams in the division. It seemed like an even enough first half, with Willie Armshaw going closest for Treaty.

Longford had a goal disallowed for offside early on in the second half, but 10 minutes in, Ludden converted a penalty to give Treaty the lead, and 10 minutes later substitute Curran converted a second penalty, which also resulted in a red card for the Longford player giving away the penalty. Curran headed in a third with about 5 minutes left to complete a very good night's work.

Next game: away versus Bray, Friday July 15, 7.45pm.

    Bray 0-2 Treaty United

    (Curran 2, 1 penalty)

Another super result tonight away to a Bray team that is a shambles. We were 1 up after 10 minutes when Enda Curran converted his second (and Treaty's third) penalty in a week, but we had Jack Lynch to thank for stopping an amost certain goal, at the cost of an injury to himself, and we were ahead at the break.

We were 2-0 up early in the second half, with the Ludden-Curran combination working again. This time Ludden's cross was somewhat mishit by Curran, volleying down and then looping high over the wrong-footed keeper into the net. From that point on we saw it out easily enough, helped by a late red card for Bray player Joe Gorman, who was a Treaty player until a couple of weeks ago.

Next game (after a summer break): Home to Usher Celtic in the FAI Cup, Friday July 29, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 5-0 Usher Celtic

    (Guerins, George x2, Curran, Edogun)

Routine FAI cup win tonight against a non-league team that just couldn't keep up with the pace. We were 1 up after 5 minutes when Guerins headed home a corner, and could have had more before the break.

It was 2-0 early in the second half when Dean George finsihed off a Ludden through ball, and he picked up his second soon after, pouncing on a loose ball in the box. Enda Curran added penalty after that, and Success Edogun scored a scracker on his debut right at the end to round off an easy night's work.

Next game: home to Waterford, Friday August 5th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-2 Waterford

    (Edogun)

A little bit of a case of 'what could have been' tonight. We started well enough and both sides had chances early on, but Waterford took the lead with a rasper from 20 yards. As he lined up for the shot I wasn't bothered as I thought it's need something special to beat Jack Brady from there, but he produced a bullet high to Brady's right.

15 minutes later it was 2-0. Awaterford corner was glanced onto the crossbar, recycled with a lovely ball back across the box which was headed against the post by another Waterford player, and yet another Waterford player was quickest to react to the rebound and finish to an empty net.

Maybe the key moment of the game arrived just before halftime, when Enda Curran got a leg in front of a Waterford player trying to make a clearance and engineered a penalty, but Curran's penalty was excellently saved low to the keeper's left.

In the second half we pressed and huffed and puffed, but never really looked like scoring, and Waterford were more or less content with what they had. Right on the 90 minutes, a long Brady clearance was glanced on and subsitute Success Edogun got there ahead of the stranded Waterford keeper and poked it over him to pull a goal back. We lumped balls into the box for the whole of injury time, but never really came close to scoring.

Next game: away to Cork, Friday August 12th, 7.45pm.

    Cork 0-2 Treaty

    (O'Riordan, Ludden penalty)

Superb win away to top-of-the-table Cork City tonight.

Treaty started well witrh Success Edogun causing some problems before we took the lead on 10 minutes with a sensational goal from Ben O'Riordan. Cork came back into it both sides had chances before half-time, the best of which was a Cork header that skimmed the crossbar.

Early in the second half Marc Ludden converted yet another Treaty penalty to put us 2-0 up. Cork pressed and created shome half-chances, but nothing concrete, and though we had to soak up a lot of pressure, we also had a presence at the other end which meant it was never a real backs-to-the-wall ending, and we held on fairly comfortably for a super 3 points.

Next game: away to Athlone, Friday August 19, 7.45pm.

    Athlone 2-0 Treaty

Really poor performance and result in Athlone tonight. We were disjointed all night after a bright enough start. We went 1 down when a Treaty defender was dispossed and quick as a flash they played in their striker to score. Treaty struggled to create any chances really, the final ball never quite right.

In the second half they went 2-0 up on 60 minutes when they broke away, looking offside to me, and a ball across the box to a free player who scuffed the ball into the net. We pressed after that, really just knocking balls forward, and they dealt with them easily enough. Their keeper played well also, and the one time he did miss a cross, a Treaty player missed a free header right in front of goal. Poor poor stuff against the team at the bottom of the table.

Next match: away to Maynooth University Town in the FAI Cup, Saturday August 27th, 7,45pm.

    Maynooth 0-3 Treaty

    (Curran, Armshaw, Devitt)

Comfortable FAI Cup win away against non-league opposition this evening. Enda Curran start it off by fnishing off a chance created by dispossessing a Maynooth player in front of his own goal. Then Willie Armshaw scored after good work by Colin Conroy, and Lee Devitt finished off the attack he started in the closing minutes to make it 3-0 with a mazy dribble.

    Treaty 1-0 Cobh

    (Curran)

Treaty now 6 points clear of Wexford for the last playoff spot after a valuable win tonight.

The first half was really poor stuff, I'm not sure either keeper had a save to make. Nothing much happened until just before halftime, when Cobh hit the bar after a bit of a scramble in the box, and Enda Curran headed wide from a good position.

Treaty were better in the second half, threatening mostly down the right wing, putting in some good crosses. It was from one of these that the goal came, when Ben O Riordan did well to work space for a low cross which Curran fired low under the keeper. We could have had another later from an Armshaw cross on the right.

Cobh didn't offer much, and even less after their centrehalf got a second yellow inside the last 10 minutes, but with the score only 1-0 it was always a bit edgy, but we held on comfortably.

Next game: away to Bray, Friday September 9th.

    Treaty 2-1 Bray

    (Christopher, George)

Most of the action was in the first half, with Treaty and Bray exchanging decent chances before Stephen Christopher put us ahead when he finished off a low Ludden ball into the box. It was 2-0, with Christopher the provider this time, swinging in a free kick that Dean George glanced into the far corner.

Treaty had the better of things in the second half and should have put the match to bed before Bray pulled one back with 15 minutes to go, but we saw it out comfortably enough for a win that makes us very very likely to end up in the playoff spots again.

Next game: home to UCD in the FAI Cup Q/F, Friday Sept 17, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 4-1 UCD

    (Curran 3, 1 penalty, Armshaw)

Wonderful night in Limerick as Treaty blew away UCD in the FAI Cup quarter final.

We were better pretty much all night long, and could have been ahead after just a couple of minutes when Armshaw tricked his way through the defence but the keeper made a good save. We were ahead when Armshaw was brought down when he cut back after wriggling his way to the endline, and Curran converted the penalty. It was 2-0 when two UCD defenders horribly messed up a clearance, and Curran was in on goal to finish, despite the best efforts of the keeper.

In the second half we continued to be the better team, while UCD offered very little. We were 3-0 up when Curran reacted to a broken ball into the box to lash a snap shot into the far top corner. After that UCD finally offered something and had a decent spell in which they forced a decent save, had a header scrambled away for a corner, and hit the crossbar. But they were stretched, and we toko advantage of that when Stephen Cristopher got in behind the defence and squared for Willie Armshaw to finish into an empty net.

UCD did pull one back soon after when they caught Treaty napping at a throw in and scored from a cutback, but it was still comfortable, and we were probably the more likely to score, and nearly did when Joel Coustrain waltzed through the UCD defence late on but the keeper saved. It didn't matter as we go though to the FAI cup semi-final. Super night.

Next game: away to Longford, Saturday Sept 24, 4pm (according to google, seems a strange time).

    Longford 1-1 Treaty

    (Curran)

I was out in Glasgow unwisely antagonising Scots in the lead up to the Ireland match (and even more so in the first half of that game), so didn't get time to report on this.

Longford too the lead afer 15 minutes with a back post header, and hit the crossbar from distance later in the half. We equalised just before halftime when Curran held up the ball inside the box before swivelling and lashing a shot into the top corner.

In the second half both teams had chances, with Longford forcing Treaty into some last ditch defending, while we hit the woodwork late on through Stephen Christopher.

That result mans that 3 poins at home to Galway on Friday secures our playoff spot.

Next game: home to Galway, Friday September 30, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-1 Galway

    (Curran)

Was just going on update for this. The updates tell me that we took the lead on 10 minuts when Curran was quickest to react to a loose ball in the box, and we held the lead until 10 minutes to go when Galway levelled through a penalty.

Disappointing not to hold on and guarantee a playoff spot, but there are still games left to seal that, and a draw isn't a terrible result.

Wasnt there last night but about 3K tops at Quarter Final v UCD , the usual football heads from the city , the markets field has probably some older supporters from Limerick UTD days going again and a general mixed bag from the mid west clare/tipp /Co limerick area. Premier league v Dundalk/Rovers/Derry would see crowds get bigger if we ever go up.

Limerick FC still operate at underage and hold transfer rights to former Limerick players so there won't be a name change.

Limerick 37 is still my favourite. Sounded very central European.

    Waterford 3-0 Treaty

Despite the result, Treaty are in the the playoffs after Wexford unsurprisingly failed to win in Cork.

It seemed like a very comfortable win for Waterford. They were 1 up after 10 minutes, 2 up jsut before half time, and added a 3rd midway through the second half, and it was still them doing most of the attacking, while Treaty seemed to struggle to put any real attacks together.

Disappointing result, but a playoff spot (granted, 5th place of 9 teams being involved in the playoffs is a laugh) and a cup semi-final make this another very decent season.

Next game: away to Derry in the FAI Cup semi-final, Sunday October 16, 2pm.

    Derry 2-1 Treaty

    (Curran penalty)

Treaty bow out of the FAI Cup despite a decent performance up in the Brandywell this afternoon.

It looked grim after the first 20 minutes, as Derry ahead after 8 minutes when Treaty went to sleep for a moment from a throw-in and were ruthlessly punished with a run to the end line and a cut back for a smart finish. Then it was 2-0 after 16 minues with a Derry player outmuscling Ludden to crash home a header from a super cross into the box.

Very much against the run of play we pulled one back on 28 minutes. A smart Armshaw turn and run into the box caused a bit of havoc, Derry were slow to clear, and Jack Lynch was brought down after nicking in ahead of a defender trying to clear it. Curran scored yet again from the penalty spot.

It was all Derry in the second half, as Treaty were happy to defend deep and try to work something on the counter or from set pieces, and we defended pretty solidly, though Derry forced Brady into a couple of good saves and also on super headed block. With 10 minutes to go we started to press on more in attack, leaving ourselves open at the back in the process.

Our one real chance came when Armshaw outpaced his marker and advanced into the box from the right wing, and fired a shot just over/wide of the far top corner. Derry nearly hit us on the break also, with Brady making more good saves, and we couldn't fashion any more chances.

Valiant effort against a full-time side, great experience for the players, and something they can carry into the final regular home game of the season next Friday, anfd beyond that into the playoffs.

Next game: home to Wexford, Friday October 21st, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-2 Wexford

apologies, completely forgot to write this up.

Not that there was much to write about - Treaty rested most of the team first 11 as the playoff spot is already secure, and Wexford scored early in the first half and late in the second to win a fairly meaningless affair.

Hopefully our players are in decent shape for the playoffs. We will be clear underdogs against a Waterford team in fine form, though Tommy Barrett will know how to set up the team.

    Playoff schedule:

Home versus Waterford, Wednesday October 26, 7.45pm.

Away versus Waterford, Saturday October 29, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-4 Waterford

    (Curran penalty)

Easy enough night for Waterford tonight, and it's effectively all over with the second leg to come.

Treaty were almost ahead after 30 seconds. Armshaw was fouled just outside the box, and Ludden whipped in a free kick which Jack Lynch glanced just wide. Waterford did score in the 5th minute when their young star Patterson slipped in behind the defence and finished under Brady frm an acute angle. And he scored in similar fashion about 25 minutes later, again ghosting onto a through ball and beating Brady. It could have been worse, as Armshaw bundled over a player in the box, but they missed the penalty, hitting the post.

Treaty pulled one back just after the hour, when Devitt was nudged over in the box and Curran scored yet another penalty. There was a bit of momentum about Treaty for the first time in the game, but that came to an end in 3 crucial minutes. First, Colin Conroy was sent off for a second yellow after his sliding pass carried him into a Waterford player, and just after than, Marc Ludden completely fluffed a routine clearance, gifting them a chance right in front of goal which they took.

We tried, but created very little, while Waterford looked dangerous in attack, and had a couple of chances before finally scoring with the last kick of the game, when Sean Guerins' attempt to cut out a low cross ended up in his own net.

Tough night, tough way to finish the season at the Markets Field, and another tough night ahead in 3 days.

Next game: away to Waterford, Saturday October 29, 7.45pm.

Waterford 3-3 Treaty (7-4 on aggregate)

    (Ludden (penalty x 2), Devitt)

Valiant performance down in Waterford tonight in the promotion playoff, and a decent note on which to end the season, but there was no way to come back from Wednesday night.

We were at them from the start, and went ahead through an early Ludden penalty, and were 2-0 up through another Ludden goal after about 20 minutes. Waterford reduced it to 2-1 almost immediately, but a super goal from Lee Devitt made it 3-1 and we were close to parity.

That period of dominance had probably come to an end even before halftime, and halftime was probably the nail in our coffin. Just 2 minutes into the second half Waterford scored from a penalty after a foul that looked just outside the box, and soon after Phoenix Patterson, who hurt us so much in the first leg, cut inside and curled a beauty into the far corner and it was 3-3 and that was that.

The game petered out after that, as Waterford were taking no chances and Treaty were spent, and that's how it finished. A bit like UCD last season - a very creditable away performance after the damage had been done at home, but overall, another decent season. OK, our cup run really consisted of a good win over UCD, and our playoff sport came about as 5 of 9 teams in the division get a place, but you take these things as they come, and nothing more could be asked of Tommy Barrett and his players this season.

Hopefully next season there's a bit more financial muscle in the club to take another step forward.

    Osarusan signing off from Scotland.
