By season 3 we'll see a young Ned Stark :)

It's campy fun. I'm not gone on the actor playing Rhaenyra. Don't know why. I thought the whole battle at the end was cool. Totally silly and stupid at the start but silly fun.

but Laenor Velaryon did have a dragon after all...

Very good series so far, ep 3 definitely the best of the 3 thanks to that battle. Starting to really like Rhaenyra. The main conflict is building nicely, the king will have to break his promise. I'm a little concerned too how the time jumps will work but, looking forward to next week's episode

The book this show is based on is not point of view character development like Game of Thrones was, this is analytical history so the gap makes sense as it just covers shite like dances and council meetings and non screen characters. You won't see Ned **** Stark as he won't be born for nearly 100 years

Corlys Velaryon is married to a Rhaenys Targaryen they are Laenor Velaryons parents so he is half Targaryen that's why he has a dragon

Sure, as we seen in the final act. But a warmonger from a foreign country is hardly going to have an updated list of who has or hasn’t managed to tame a dragon in Westeros. It’s not like they can check his Facebook status.

I think the point of his plan was that Daemon was the only dragon rider seen in the step stones. So they should have used Daemon as the bait.

They could have built Laenor’s character a bit better in episode 1-2. Show him as a kid, showing an interested in, or playing with a juvenile dragon or whatever.

Agree, I had no idea who he was until he was mentioned as a potential match for Rhaenyra and then was in the Stepstones scenes.

Maybe because I have recently watched all of GOT but I was half expecting Viserys to drop dead at any moment in episode 3. I'm assuming that the battle for the crown really ramps up after his death when the next heir needs to take the throne whether that is deemed to be Rhaenyra, Aegon or Daemon by those left behind. Not all will be happy, wars will ensue, etc. etc.

The power of social media 😁

It was there when I watched on Sky on Monday anyway. I'm still not over it!

I have to say, I found the first two episodes a bit of a chore but the third episode has moistened my chops. I'm hoping Daemon making it through that relentless shower of arrows is not a sign of the plot armour to come.

    I quite liked it.

To me, there was nothing to indicate that Crabfeeder was some sort of hardened warrior that would have had a great duel with Daemon. He seemed more like a puppeteer. He'd come out of the cave, signal for his henchmen and then scurry back inside. As soon as Daemon had (somehow) ran through the shower of arrows and then battled through the last few Triarchy protecting Crabfeeder, Crabfeeder seemed resigned to his faith.

Thought Daemon going into the cave and coming out with his carcass was nicely done.

I'm getting into it more as it goes on. The characters and politics are moving into position for a good strong storyline.

But the CGI is really annoying me. It is poor. The dragons in episode 1 looked poor especially the funeral pyre scene. The green fingers show carelessness this week. And the Stag hunt. The stag actually jerked so badly I thought it was my satellite signal.

I enjoyed the episode again...mostly. I can't help but feel that battle was lazy writing.

The Crabfeeder is smart enough to fight Daemon and the Sea Snake to a losing stalemate yet is dumb enough to send his entire army running out to finish Daemon, lying wounded on the beach.

I get that he thought Daemon was the only dragon rider, but why expose absolutely everyone to finish off one, wounded man when it was overwhelmingly likely to be a ruse of some description, dragon or not.

Anyway, that aside I thought it was pretty good. Continues to simmer over nicely.

What I'm curious about is how long the show will run for - like, say it's a 5 season arc, is this entirely based off a single book? It's hard to tell at what pace the show will run at.

Right, I've seen enough, so Rhys Evans can say lets marry your daughter to your 2 years old half brother & that's OK.

So why not just marry her to the uncle, Matt Smith

Then we all live happily ever after

Why didn't Frodo take the eagles to Mount Doom. .. etc etc

    Anyway, really enjoyed that episode

Honestly, as much as I'm enjoying the programme itself, the best thing about it is Twitter afterwards. Pure gold.

Thought Daemon making up with the king at the start was a bit weird. Felt Daemon was up to something. Normal programming soon resumed. It does feel a bit rushed in places. Still really enjoying it.

Best episode yet that was, some real drama and tension.

It jumps forward in time after the next episode I think?

Have to say really enjoying this, getting better by the week also.

Although it was an intriguing episode for those seeking action as in fight and battle scenes it was missing that.

Daemon was always up to no good when he returned,

I think he actually respects Rhaenyra in some small way,

He was never going to go through with it but he knew they'd be spotted in the pleasure den & the rumours would start hence why he didn't tell the king the truth about what didn't happen , He is doing everything he can to make sure she doesn't get the throne,

Good to know they have the morning after pil/potion/cup of tea in Westeros. Although the way of dispensing it is slightly paternalistic...

  • Registered Users Posts: 934 ✭✭✭BK5

I bet Daemon wishes there was Viagra tea as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,564 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

Is that what happened or could he just not go through with it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,770 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I think the plan was just to be seen there & not actually do it, Hence why he pretended to the King that it happened, He just wants to disgrace her name & ruin her chance at the throne for his own gain,

Did you not notice the boy who went and told the hand was the same boy who we later say come into where Daemon was sleeping & he got paid by Daemon's mistress,

Really enjoying it so far, it's definitely getting the balance between character development, good dialogue and action scenes, dragons, etc. (as well as humour, the scene from Storm's End was pretty hilarious 😂)

Having been aware of the Dance of the Dragons story from those animated lore videos that came with DVD releases, I was a bit concerned that HOTD would make similar mistakes as GOT S5-8 and become entirely reliant on epic battles and/or revenge porn, still a long way in the story to go obviously but so far it seems as if this will not be the case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,564 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

Yeah I did notice him, just wasn't sure if Daemon had intended on actually doing the deed and couldn't as opposed to didn't

  • Registered Users Posts: 934 ✭✭✭BK5

Don't know but in episode 1 he was also unable to perform with Mysaria , maybe it's his ambition and frustration there or maybe he is impotent and it's the root of his anger.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,770 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I forgot that & its mentioned he hasn't given his wife a child ,

Well that had as much intrigue as the best of GOT.

Ser Christan should go for Round 2 before she drinks the magic hymon closing juice
