You do seem oblivious to the misused term..

The poster probably meant that they are picking up what they perceive to be a negative tone throughout the thread, or more likely, over the last page or two. But that is to be expected as the majority of posters wouldn't be praising Zelensky or Putin nor the war. It may also be worth pointing out to you that when the war is brought up on this thread, it is often pointed out that this is not the thread for that, nor for other refugees.

Most of the ire is aimed at the government and their policies regarding how they are prioritising the Ukrainian refugees well above many other things, Being too spendthrift with our money during an energy crisis, accepting and luring more refugees then we can handle among many other things. Then being defended on here purely 'just because' in most cases. Posters being met with posts deflecting, or worse - ridiculous scenarios or solutions that are suitable for one but not the other etc.

So feel free to read some posts and come to your own conclusions, that is your prerogative, when done, by all means try to contribute to the overall tone of the thread, or if not, abstain from posting here.

The government are now looking at (or actively) raising the amount per household housing refugees from €400 per month to €700. Building modular homes at a cost of €250.000 each plus €50,000 fitting them out. Spending God knows how much money on allowing 'free' parcels up to 20kg to be posted back to Ukraine. Not to mention absolute ludicrous hotel contracts.

Not one question being answered, like why are we still taking them in, where will they stay, what is our return assistance program, how will our hospitals cope etc.

Really? Resorting to digs at people's posting styles and language used? I suppose when there is no valid reason or justification for continuing the free for all, this is the last option.

It says more about those who engage in it though than those you are complaining about.

The government looking into increasing the monthly hosting payment serves only to confirm that they still have no plan (how could they as the country is full) other than to rely on the willingness of private hosts to step in. Many offers have already been rescinded.

Hoteliers now regularly appearing in articles daily, stating they may have to shutdown over the winter months due to the crazy utility bills they are receiving.

The writing is on the wall.

Most of the ire is aimed at the government and their policies

But a lot of the ire is directed at the Ukrainians - why are they coming here, could they not go to other countries, why are they still coming here, they're lazy (and don't work), they can't speak English (so can't work), the ones who'll try to register as doctors or healthcare professionals here will be lying and there's no way to check (but they don't want to work), the ones who work (they don't want to work) don't pay tax, they're rude, they don't smile and have cold personalities (possibly traumatised refugees, but **** them, they should entertain me!), the women are all prostitutes, the classic 'they're all economic migrants', they sit around drinking outside all day, and my own favourite, "I saw some the other day and they made me vomit".

Sometimes accompanied with a "not all Ukrainians, obviously, the genuine ones are grand", but never ever call it out when someone else posts obvious bull.

And what many posters fail to realise is that the energy crisis is a direct result of Putin invading Ukraine.

So the solution is to spend throw even more money on other things that will worsen it here?

Mod - this thread is a disgrace and it's gone on long enough, it has just become a xenophobic 'us vs them' bile fest aimed at refugees and immigrants alike.

There is no more useful discussion to be had here
