I fancy Chargers in the AFC and Rams in the NFC. (45/1 bet)

    Chargers SuperBowl champs.

    Justin Herbert MVP.

Gone with a lot of road wins there which I never like doing but it's all gut feeling in week 1. Loads of exciting match-ups in fairness with a couple of good revenge games in there as well. So happy to have NFL back.

Some good games there for week 1, Thursday night will be fun, no sure why Buffalo are 2.5 point favorites, unless Stafford injury his limiting him a lot.

Steelers/Bengals should be interesting as well, hopefully Cincinnati can back up their superbowl run with a good run this year, though superbowl losers don't have a great record the following year.

Raiders/Chargers and Packers/Vikings are two good games in the late window and I think we'll find out a lot about these teams in week 1.

I fancy the Vikings to be really good this year, I like the chargers but I think the coach holds them back a bit too much with his playcalling so wouldn't back them for the superbowl. You never know what you will get from the Raiders but this is a repeat of the week 18 match from last year that cost LA a trip to the playoffs.

So good to have football back - especially when working nights! I'm taking the Bill tonight, Von to have a monster. Stafford to be seeing ghosts and Buffalo with 0 punts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,210 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Rams tonight. Might do picks for the rest of the week before Sunday.

    Football us back baby!!!!

Five months of awesomeness, here we go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

well still no punts for Buffalo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,210 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Bills off to a good start but turnovers are killing them. They should be up by at least 20 at this stage but lead 10-0 nearly at halfway through the second quarter.

I just have a feeling the rams are about to cut it to three.

Some odd things going on, Singletary started well but Miss is getting more if the ball now and not doing as well. They are bringing in Singletary when they need a blocker.

On the other side Henderson got the start at RB, Akers has only had one play to this point. Robinson hasn't even had a look yet from Stafford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,210 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

10-10 at the half, the Bills won't be happy at halftime, Rams will be thinking they got away with it and they go in with all the momentum.

Hard to call it, Von Miller has been back to his best for the Bills.

Bills lead by seven with five left in the third. Miller having a great game for the Bills but it's got a lot to do with poor offensive line by the Rams. I'm not sure how many times Stafford has been sacked but it's at least five sacks.

Bills have the ball again after another Stafford sack. They gotta make this one count though unlike the first half. You just can't keep giving these Rams chances.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

I wish the Bills would see the bigger picture with these Allen rushes. One bad tackle and the season is as good as over for them - at least aspirations of a Super bowl. And for what, a 2/3 yard gain.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

...and to clarify, I mean the called rushes, the play breaking down and using his feet is fine (he says as he scores a 2/3 yard touchdown run)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,210 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Easy night for the Bills despite I think it was four turnovers.

Rams offense have a lot of issues to work on, particularly the lack of pass protection. They won't be winning very often with that offensive line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Yeah, not often you win whilst losing the turnover battle away from home.....and it was a blowout. Bills are as good as advertised. The Rams looked pretty hapless, and the score flattered them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 HookForeLeft

Long time lurker and Seahawks fan, yes it's going to be a long year out West.

Good win by the Bills. Looked good on both sides of the ball except for some of the turnovers.

AFC is going to be some battle to get to Arizona.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,532 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Went to bed at half time with the scores tied. Just seen the highlights of the second half but it looks like the bills won going away. It’s only one game though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,159 ✭✭✭cosatron

It's hard to see josh Allen lasting the year with the tackles his taking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,106 ✭✭✭Christy42

I believe Stafford had the best passer rating when opponents blitzed last season. Bills didn't blitz at all and still got home repeatedly. That is worrying. Stafford didn't look great and didn't seem to care for anyone not named Kupp.

Obviously one game and things can be fixed/broken during the season but we will see where both teams go from there. If nothing else that was entertaining.

So the field was replaced in solider field two days ago and while I think it’s eased off a bit it was lashing rain in Chicago an hour ago and the drainage isn’t working so they had to push the water off the field and according to the FOX NFL pre game show, parts of the field aren’t bedded in fully.

Patriots offensive line is awful. We have no hope of doing anything if it doesn't improve.

Miami looking great against us but I don't think they are that great, thtyce a serious roster but Tua is getting all the time in the world against a tired defense who've spent most of the first half on the field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,446 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Bears just got called for a hilarious penalty. The holder on a FG attempt brought a towel onto the field to soak up a bit of water from where the ball would be held for the kick.

Flag thrown. It's unsportsmanlike apparently. Knocked us out of FG range and we had to punt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,210 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Is that specifically for kicks? There's towels on the field all the time and thrown on the field before the snap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,446 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Not sure of the exact rule but my best guess would be that the penalty is for not removing the towel from the field. The holder just left it on the ground behind him and it could interfere with play if there was a bad snap and players start running around/step on the towel.

Still an awful penalty to get which prevented us putting 3 points on the board.

If the penalty was for the act of soaking up water with the towel then Jesus christ..

Eagles 24-14 at the half. Both sides of the ball started poorly but got going and it hasn’t been perfect but AJ brown has gotten into the game since then and the eagles defense has come alive.

Jesus Christ the eagles will give me grey hair if this is the level they are at this season.

AJ brown looks good though but that run defense or I should say lack of one barely got it done against the Detroit lions. The lions offense out scored the eagles.

So a tie week 1 between the Texans and colts and I’m only getting the full story after concentrating on the eagles game.

The chiefs S Justin Reid is kicking after the chiefs kicker turned his ankle and Reid is money.

Daboll has balls going for two that late in the game to take the lead. Fair play and it worked.

I can't remember anybody saying that. I heard lots saying the opposite, that Hill would struggle in Miami.
