Subaru Solterra

Do Subaru have a better name than Toyota here? Certainly not borne out by the sales numbers anyway... I don't even know where my nearest dealer would be, but I can name Kia, Hyundai, Renault and of course Toyota dealers within a short drive of where I live.

I bet that the Solterra will be more expensive than the equivalent BZ4X anyway, so I don't think they will sell too many here. Subaru are the quirky choice in Japanese makes these days (like Mitsubishi... and yes, I know about the Outlander PHEV) but not a single person I know has ever said to me "did you hear about the new Subaru?" unless it was a WRX or something vaguely interesting. A badge engineered Toyota does not fall into the realm of quirky or interesting, even if it is an EV.

Didn't Toyota also do something similar recently with the RAV4 by having Suzuki badge engineer it? I think they called it the A-Cross or something like that.

Personally, I would buy a Suzuki quicker than a Subaru but that is just me :)

It is priced at €49,995 for the Limited version and €54,995 for the Touring version according to the Subaru website. Those prices includes the grant.

Both have the same 71.4kWh battery and are 4 wheel drive.

Dark blue mica is included and other colours are €1,250

Interesting, I was not aware that Mitsubishi were gone, I thought they had reversed that decision. 🙂

I'll be curious to actually see the price differential between the Toyota and the Subaru in any case. I imagine if the bog spec BZ4X is 2WD and the Subaru is 4WD then the differential will be quite high. I imagine most people in the market for an EV "SUV" these days are not particularly interested in 4WD and just want to get into something with a bit of height, meaning the Toyota will win most of the time in this.

I like the look of the Solterra- seems to be a bit of a bargain compared to any other AWD EV? Ioniq AWD is touching 70k and I think the ID4 GTX is well over 60k now too.

Sales of Subrau dropped off a cliff due to our VRT rules - their petrols are very good and reliable but massively expensive after VRT. The Boxer diesel was a nice drive but again not the lowest CO2 so sales hit hard as they were forced to price very high. Impreza designer should have been sacked and dropping the Legacy left the range limited

our Q5 pulls hay bales out into the field to feed animals in winter as well as towing them around.
