The Pushback against Leftism

I can speak to this from lived experience. One thing that left done is removing the term ‘transsexualism’ & replacing this with transgenderism. Transsexualism is an area with thousands of examples throughout history that clearly have an interesting psychological backdrop. I’ve met so many gay, straight & bi men who fall under that spectrum. My struggle in my life was my sexual attraction, not my ‘identity’. It’s also been LGB & Straight people generally who’ve been at forefront of the civil rights related movements, with ‘Trans’ people attempting to follow this but not fight the same battle (For example, same sex marriage determined by referendum & the gender recognition bill followed without a national discussion).

I absolutely support an adults right to make the decision to transition, no religious/state laws should remove that right. My opinion isn’t a pushback against leftism, it’s someone who’s deeply worried about what could’ve happened to me if I was growing up gay today.

I think in the US "left" is used as an insult for people who are socially liberal.

It has no meaning in economic terms, which is what it has mostly been used for in Europe.

Unfortunately, as European socialist parties turned into solid supporters of our current version of capitalism (even rolling back a number of gains made in the past; one that immediately springs to mind in Ireland is the way that the same minister who brought in free 3rd level education supported the reintroduction of university fees), they too turned to the idea that leftwing meant supporting socially liberal issues (valid issues in themselves, I might add) as a way of remaining relevant.

ANd I'd agree with you. But there's a lot of hysterical nonsense on both sides. A boy can never be a girl v if the boy wants to be a girl then it must be so!

As I've said before - up until the age of 16, if it can't be reversed easily and quickkly and without harm to the child then it should be banned.

Pronouns can be very easily reversed, though.

Ohh I dunno man, I mean, that’s a fairly uncharitable interpretation of Wibbs post that was intended in good faith in all fairness. I dunno ‘bout the accuracy of brain mapping in the future, but if that’s what constitutes a hot take, then you may want to don a pair of oven mitts before handling this absolute scorcher 😂

Wibbs didn’t say it, but one of the prerequisites of brain mapping, is that there has to be a brain to be mapped in the first place. Good luck finding that person’s brain, it’s out to lunch 😒
