Thanks to YouTube, I've recently rediscovered them.
But weren't they great? Great fun and great energy...
And the two girls with their wigs and wiggles (in their seventies now. FFS) were great little movers.

I read something about them a few months back, and something else about Katie Pierson feeling old and getting a replacement, I think that was earlier.
-Here is the first article mentioned, from late May, but no idea where I read the other. It may not have said she would be replaced, but more about her feeling old. Can't imagine the tour being anything without her. They already played Europe (or some of) IIRC just before lockdown.

Well it kind of is.....I think group was called after the aircraft. And then the cocktail was named for them....Or was it the other way round.
It's hard to believe that some of those planes are still in service.....a bit like the group members!

I remember their songs like Love Shack and Rock Lobster (down, down, down...) back in maybe 1991 or so?
They were a good enough band I thought at the time. Never really got into their style though. But they've been around since '76.

To complement that fun image they also changed their name to the "BC-52's" for the 1994 Flintstones movie as they had a song on the soundtrack.

They were supposed to play Vicar Street around the time of Funplex but it was cancelled.
Great band. Peaked with Wild Planet and Mesopotamia.
I hate when Love Shack is included on 80s compilations on this side of the world.
