Switching from Ulster Bank to Bank of Ireland

Why not just transfer all the money out of the account...who cares if you close it...it will close itself when UB fùck off.....

I have a few accounts with UB....i have emptied one of them and transferred to an account in BOI....

It now has a grand total of 0 euro in it...

Why bother "closing" it...who cares?

I've moved most of my funds but left a small balance in case something goes through that I hadn't remembered to change over. Other accounts have a nil balance. Why close them when they will be closing all the accounts anyway?

Used one of these. Big mistake. Some of service providers (one of the Virgin Media) ignored my bank's instruction and didn't setup a new DD with a new IBAN as the bank instructed them, and charged me a missed DD fee. I now have closed an account in the old bank, open in a new and have setup DD's myself. This time it worked perfectly fine. Never trust others, do it yourself.

If you have a new account and all direct debits etc sorted then just transfer any remaining balance online. I wouldn't go in to actually close it as they have a small fee for for this (I made that mistake). Just let them close the empty account themselves when they're exiting the market.
