Electricity Rebate.

We're in a wee block of flats with one meter and old school coin meters in each flat. What's the story,if any,for such electricity payers for getting the rebate?

Didn't bother. There's four flats,so two hundred between us ain't much. Potentially six hundred each however is a different story.

It was automatically applied to bills.

OP, someone pays the bill to the electricity supplier, so someone got the last credit and will get the next one. If that's your landlord, they're supposed to pass the rebate on to you.

I've explained there's one meter and coin boxes in each flat.

Afaics you need a contract or a prepay meter. Must be others with coin meters though,I presume we aren't unique.

Who empties the coins out of your meter? The your electricity supplier, or your landlord?

Well yeah,even then it's like a hundred and fifty quid between the four of us when it should be six hundred for each flat.

One meter one rebate. Ask the landlord to install separate meters.

your landlord owes each of you €50 IMO and will owe you €200 each by the end of the winter.

as mentioned above if you each had your own meter you'd be getting €800 each but you'd also each have to pay a standing charge so in the long run you'd be worse off (or maybe not, as you're probably pumping a lot of coins in compared to the unit rate if you had your own meter)

Has the landlord put up prices though? Maybe hasn’t increased rate as used the 200 to offset it.

Not many landlords trust their tenants I'd imagine.

Must call into Citizens Information,they may have come across similar.Doubt there's a work around though.

Reckon the landlord is making a bit of a killing, otherwise there's no reason to persist with the hassle of over a grand in two euros every time they're collected.
