Russia has 6000 nuclear warheads at its disposal we are led to believe, is Poland going to intercept these star wars style before they wipe Poland off the face of the map? That's something to be afraid of - if even in theory

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,172 ✭✭✭vixdname

And who said putin would launch these 6000 nukes at Poland ?

Russia has threatened everyone and its mother with nuclear annihilation at this stage.

Ukraine is attacking what russia claims is russian territory every day and irrespective of all their bluster in the past regarding "Guarding russian territories with all of it power" they have done nothing, no nuke even moved out of storage.

If Poland fought to push an inward coming belarusian force back out of Ukraine why would russia fire "6000 Nukes" at them when they havent done so when supposedly guarding their own territory (in their opinion!), never mind firing them because putins little old puppet in belarus was getting his ass kicked.

Poland has a viable star wars defence system. We are led to believe.

And thus " Irina Tsybaneva " became the answer on every online forum to Putin's shills as they tried to excuse Putin's regime as that of the russian people and it's all the West and everyone else's fault. And how it's a misunderstood nation, where they all just want to be left alone.

Pope Francis later nominated Irina for sainthood. For the Patron Saint of Observation.

Yeah, and russia has one aswell. Its Putin dressed in a Jedi master coat, who is so cunning and powerful that he could stop any incoming ICBMs etc from hitting russian soil simply by using his super strategic mind to push them aside.

    True story that.

A Russian born professor who has just returned from Russia tells CNN the atmosphere in the country is ugly at the moment. The mobilisation and one million men fleeing the country has turned thing really sour - she likens it to Orwell's 1984, people generally feeling the country is screwed and that it has no future.

I do not think that one woman with tiktok account does have some serious influence over russian politics.

You will find crazies everywhere and to fret about what one woman said is quite in the same territory.

Background is simply the majority of Belarusians are apposed to this war and have been from the beginning. As opposed to 20 years of Putin spouting western hate propaganda, after all it is only now we are hearing of push back in Russia now that mobilisation is in effect. While we tried to guess the outcome for Russian citizens, in hope of some kind of protest, first at the beginning of this war and second with mobilisation, there doesn't seem to be any kind of appetite. However, Lukashenko is despised in Belarus and most would agree it would be political suicide and the question would have to be asked does he hold enough power and sway to rule with an iron fist should they enter the war. Probably not even close.

Russia has already raided Lukashenko's arsenal of tanks and ammo, so what is left for his army that is probably already on a knifes edge? An easy guess would be training of recent mobilised Russian troops to prevent Ukraine reinforcements.

Of course a second country entering this war would put more pressure on the west.

Yes, that's always a possibility, but even if that happens, what can he do? Not much militarily ( exception being nuke threats ....again) an economy in the dump's and dropping, and a rapidly anti-war status growing. Sure he might be a hardliner, but he won't have much to work with.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,520 ✭✭✭jmreire

It ranks with the Russian version of the same thing, " Partial Mobilization or in Kherson , where an evacuation is called " A Vacation" , When it comes to the mass movement of people, the liberties they take with language is shocking.

A different take than the Putin is all Russia and Russia is all Putin.

There's a lot of sense here. With the old adage of when all around are loosing their heads, keep calm and carry on, ..doing what you know is right.

A Russian priest who left the Orthodox Church and joined the Apostolic Church for reasons herein..

They have already said that they expect a future war with Russia, and are actively preparing for it, even now. Carrying out an attack on Belarus (especially Belarus, where Lukashenko is a deeply unpopular leader, and rightly so) The question is, how hard would Belarus soldiers fight in support of Lukashenko? I have no doubts about the will, ability or courage of the Polish to fight. Lukashenko's soldiers? Now thats the 1'000 USD question.

The way things are in the world at the moment, especially where Russia is concerned, the slightest hint of a nuke launching from Russia, will trigger an overwhelming conventional weapons response, launch of a 2nd nuke launch, then Bye Bye Baby, You will be able to hear the buttons being pressed even here in Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,521 ✭✭✭✭Say my name

The contrast to the priest above. And this..

The sooner people in Russia cop on and rise up against the people above the better.

Their warhawks will have Russia itself blown to bits. And all because of the Putin regime's control on everything.

There's an Irish saying in that someone is too clever for their own good. This completely covers Putin. Thought he was clever. But fucked the country and people over for the next century. The blowback is just beginning.

World leaders should be pushing for a peace deal between the two countries, not stoking the flames and potentially ending the human race, especially over a piece of land. FFS

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,520 ✭✭✭jmreire

Thats what should be happening Donald, but the problem is that the present and original occupier's do not wish to have their land taken from them by force, which is what is currently being attempted. Or as it is presently, the Unstoppable object meets the immovable object.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭Real Donald Trump

The only way this ends is appeasing Putin I'm afraid, he wont back down no matter what, and certainly won't want to look weak in front of his people or the world, because if he does he's a cornered rat, which is very dangerous for the rest of us.

But you appease him this time, and in a few years time, after russia has stockpiled more weaponry and rebuilt its military, they come back and simply move into another eastern European country and state its theirs, rattle the nuclear sabre again and repeat and repeat and repeat.

Also, if he is appeased, the likes of china will be in to Taiwan and will do the same thing there, threaten nuclear again and they get what they want.

You also set a terrible precedent for other rogue nations such as Iran etc to get their own nuclear arsenals up and running and they too can join in the fun of taking over other territories with the threat of a nuclear strike on anyone who gets in the way.

That doesnt sound like the kind of world I want for my kids to grow up in, not sure if youd be happy with it either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,085 ✭✭✭patnor1011

That is precisely what Russia claimed attacking Ukraine. Talking about expecting future war and preventing it. This talk about why Poland should attack Belarus is pretty idiotic in the light of what is going on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭Real Donald Trump

If all other near by countries get quick NATO membership he wouldn't be trying anything in future, not a chance. There's been trouble for years between the two, it didn't just happen overnight out of the blue. I'm looking at the bigger picture here, if Putin goes full crazy you won't have to worry about your kids future because there will not be one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,236 ✭✭✭mcmoustache

If this were two countries going at it tit for tat like India v China, you're thoughts might not appear so retarded but this is an invasion by one country of another. Ukraine isn't trying to take bits out of Russia. The war can be ended any time by Putin. If I stole your waifu pillow, would you be OK with me keeping half of it and giving you back the lower half?

The Ukrainians don't seem to have that beta-cuck mentality of yours and have destroyed a massive amount of the Russian war machine while you were advocating for the "bend over and take it" defense. Thankfully, instead of doing what you would do, Ukrainians have reduced the invading force to bums and whatever criminals they could cobble together from prisons. You might think that Putin and Russia are some kind of Alpha but that's all relative. They're an economy the size of Italy. That may seem powerful to you but that's only because of where you are in the human hierarchy. To everyone else above where you are, including the Ukrainians, the Russians have been found severely wanting.

Oh. I must have missed your joke. Is it THE BOMB time again?

Yes, that was her.....Nina Khruscheva. She says the mood in the country wasn't too bad in June but has gone seriously downhill since the mobilisation.

Appeasing putler is the whole reason we are in this shitstorm at the moment. Invading Crimea should have been the catalyst to arm Ukraine and get them into NATO.

Peace isn't an option for the democrats in Washington. There is money to be made out of war and business is good and they have the added bonus of zero American boots on the ground and coffins returning to Kansas.
