Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah that's true. It's probably a result of that, but just something that's not seen much, or ever. I can't recall any left footers playing on the right hand side much, unless they are inverted forwards like Messi, Bale, Salah.

Clubs often try to not use 2 left footers at CB (I know Eddie Howe has alluded to this before, and Pep too) but wouldn't really have a problem playing 2 right footers.

Could be a tough day at the office today

Could Klopp drop Fab back into center back beside VVD.

    We’re goosed. I’ll take a 1-0 loss over a 7-1 hammering which is what I fear happening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Milner and Elliott on the right, as reported, is death.

    Foden to score 2.

Team just announced on sky. God help us we are going to get battered. Milner and Elliot on right.

That team. Yikes! Well I guess expectations are fairly low anyway.

Good to see Trent back and available for selection.

Ake playing at LB against Mo, that is good not to have a regular LB going down wing against Elliot and Milner, hopefully Mo can get the better of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,615 ✭✭✭Damien360

Trent needs to be left off the team including the subs for a while. He has been very poor defensively. Milner needs to be sent packing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Lol Milner,

    Sad

All this bull about a left back not being able to switch sides is so bull, they're professional footballers, and can't switch.... sad.

Same does for kicking with other foot, I couldn't kick with left, so I took an hour out of my day and learnt to, have they not got an hour to spare.😅

    Henderson? Is he fit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

James Milner starting in the year of our Lord 2022.

    Fucking hell.

    We are fucked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Trent on bench, Tsimkas on bench, Jones on bench, and we play Milner at right back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,204 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Sky saying Fab partnering VVD so that means Milner in midfield, not sure if that's any better

How can Klopp think that this is the best team of the options available today. Surely he can't expect Milner to cope with City today, he's likely to be ruthlessly exposed from the start. We could be looking at a record defeat at home today. I think City will want to kill us off and do as much damage as they can today knowing that we are probably at the weakest we have been in a long time.

Real v Barca on Premier 1 . Before the main event

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Our only hope is to out score City today, that we can do with Salah, Jota, and Firmino, need to get it into them fast to feet.

Surely Hendo should be in there, unless he's carrying a knock.

Milner has aged five years from last season. He may still be incredibly fit but his reactions are league 1 level. Baffled that he is starting in a game like this.

    That team..I mean wtf

This will be embarrassing and I'm normally optimistic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,937 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

If it's a 4231 with Milner in midfield I think he will man mark KDB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Some good results ahead of us in table, a win is a big step forward to 8th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,114 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    Milner yellow card bingo.

    I'm gonna go 33rd minute

Be surprised if he goes that long without getting booked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

So Gomez at left back, phew.

That makes more sense, I shouldn't have doubted Jurgen

Praying the reports are correct that it’s Milner in midfield and Fab at the back - still not ideal, but far better than Milner at RB. Id be surprised if he sees 60 minutes, before either Hendo or Trent comes on and we shuffle around a bit.

Gonna be an intense first 20 minutes I think - given how badly we’ve been starting games, I’d say city will start fast and go for the jugular.

Seems like a long time since the Community Shield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

    Milner at RB .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,114 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Man city concede goals too, so we have a chance. Just need to keep them out ourselves!

Can understand Robbo's reaction, looked on replay like Bernardo had zero intention of playing the ball in the air.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Never a free kick, Gomez had every right to go for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Tyler is so fcking obvious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Nobody will ever be able to convince me that Salah is refereed like everyone else.

You can pull him all you like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Fab and Elliott are gonna have to be super vigilant covering Milner over on the right. We do seem to have more bodies around that area than we have of late at least though.

That pass through the lines from Virgil to Fabinho was good to see.

We have to keep that to our game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,411 ✭✭✭facehugger99

Early indications are this won’t be one for the ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,583 ✭✭✭mormank

This is what I was talking about the other day when I was saying its so tiresome how the refs constantly screw us. Id say every pen we have conceded in the past couple years Salah has had the exact same thing happen to him in opponents boxes and got nothing....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Looking straight 4-4-2 a lot of the time, Elliott and Jota doing well enough so far, getting stuck in as wingers. We seem to shuffle position around under certain situations though, with Bobby dropping deep and Jota going inside as a forward.

    At least no early goal.

Great to see Salah driving at them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Delighted how much more central he's playing. That alone gives us more of a fighting chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

One of these days, Robbo will finally keep a shot down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Robbo! Sooo much time to just keep it down.
