Truth hurts. Wouldn't be surprised if Treaty or Galway turn us over if they are anyway organized and have a go at us. That was some bottling job both on and off the pitch yesterday.

Huge amount of inaccuracies there boy. Lay off the Hoffmans before the next game

Be great if you don't turn up at any more games, one shyte attitude.

Sobowale ran Pat's and Dundalk ragged in the 2 other cup games, yeah remember the other 2 Premier sides we knocked out?

On another note we punched way above our level in the cup, a brilliant run to the semifinal where they ran out of steam. Wassim was badly missed, Uche didn't have the physicality to trouble the Shelbourne defence. Our bench was quite weak in fairness, didn't have anything to change it.

I was surprised we didn't chance throwing one of the centrebacks up front for the last 10mins as plan A didn't work for the other 80mins.

Onto the playoffs now, hopefully they'll recover quickly after this.

I think we have a very good chance in the playoffs. We beat Treaty fairly handy a few days ago, Galway is in pretty bad form and I think we are a better team than UCD. Its going to be a long road and its going to be tough, but promotion is definitely on the table if all goes well

Looked as if the occasion might have gotten to some of the boys on Sunday, but Shelbourne fully deserved their win.

A lot of those lads lack experience, and it showed. Apart from Patterson's free kick in the second half I don't think anyone tested their keeper, which is sinful in those conditions.

They were crying out for a Paul Keegan type player in midfield - someone who could get their foot on the ball and give the team more control.

Idowu was on the pitch too long, he should have been hooked and also should have put his hand up earlier to say he couldn't continue.

Hopefully Waterford can tempt some of those people who came for a look at the semi to return for the update playoff fixtures.

Draw tonight against athlone and blues finish second. First series of games under Morris has cost them the title. Finish second they will pay Treaty away next Wednesday then home in the second leg next Saturday. Hopefully get a decent crowd. I know the armchair fans will be back in their sitting rooms but hopefully we get 1500-1800.

Good win witha shaky opening six mins of the second half. Nice to take off a few bodies as well to rest them. Galway draw so blues away to treaty next Wednesday followed by the home leg on Saturday. Patterson top scorer for the league as well. Galway won't be fancying playing Longford again.

Good result tonight and a pity we had such a bad start to the season, if only we had of got 4/5 more points we could of been league champions. All cup finals from now on for us

Not thinking that far ahead but UCD had a good result tonight and looking promising for a 9th place finish

With our record in play offs, i wouldn't be looking any further than Treaty next week.. Massive game up there on Wednesday.. Never easy to get a result up there..

7.45 kick off confirmed for second leg on Saturday at RSC.. Place will be rocking

Nobody to fear in the playoffs either, if they lads play to their ability we will take some beating.

Work will get in the way of a trip on Wednesday I think but Saturday should be a great night down in the RSC. We score for fun, top scoring team in the league, just keep it tight enough at the back and don't give anything silly away and the goals will come.

    First leg Wednesday ko 7.45

    2nd leg Saturday ko 7.45

Any season ticket holders can go to the club shop Monday or Tuesday and avail of a free ticket for the play off second leg as a goodwill gesture for the support this season.

    Brilliant from the new owner.

I think Longford will be the big threat, in good form at the right time.

Well over 500 Blues expected heading to Limerick tomorrow evening.. Hopefully the game goes ahead, could be in doubt if this rain keeps falling

Best of luck to the team tonight, Let's hope we get a positive result

You'd take 1/2-0 and make Saturday the most boring game of all time if it means us getting over the line

Great result tonight. Should take us through to the next stage at least.

Off topic, but is it only the club shop in RSC that they sell the Waterford jerseys? Or do any other shops sell them in the city?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,784 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

Sell them in eleverys and maybe sports direct?

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,384 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Good result tonight but can't take pur eye off the ball too much for Saturday. Very positive result going in but crazier things have happened

2-2 in the other game and the worry could be those teams been in tougher could stand to them in the final. No doubt our management are aware of it

That was great, Patterson is just the business isn't he.

Hopefully Baptitse is okay, Taylor is an absolute liability.

Can't disagree with any comment in that post 😂 especially the Taylor one

I honestly don't know how Taylor is a professional footballer. He doesn't have a notion on how to defend.

Great result last night, hopefully we can grab an early goal on Saturday and we can take off the likes of Patterson and Junior at h/t to give them a rest.

Richard Taylor isn't even related to a footballer and shouldn't set foot on the pitch again. If he does I honestly believe he'll cost us Premier Division football. If Baptiste injured put the older Sobowale centre back and the younger lad in at right back. He did well last night when he came on. Eddie Nolan back in the squad aswell but I can't imagine he's any way match fit.

Great result last night but that stream was absolutely appalling!

The floodlights must be powered by candles.

As for the commentary - superbly unbiased.........not!

Anyway - no complacency for Saturday and hopefully no injuries cos there were some bad ones on our players again.

Also wondering about the cards - do they get wiped for playoffs or carried forward from league???

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Gardner

As per previous comments, the vast majority of this team are very average first division players and are carried by the likes of Patterson. The game was in the balance until the scandalous sending off of the limerick player at 2-1. Limerick were well on top during this period.

Watched the other semi this morning and 2 poor teams again. Galway are pure long ball and Longford are muck. Whoever comes out of the first division round of the playoffs wont beat UCD. They played very well vs shels the other night and were much better than what we were in the cup semi. Another year in the doldrums awaits us and a major clear out of players and staff required.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,384 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

The First Division playoff winner are going into the playoff in better shape than the 9th placed premier team

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,588 ✭✭✭Boooourns

You're back, this time to suck the life out of a victory. It's football, enjoy it, if not just pack it in. How the hell are they very average first division players if they came second in the league and got to the semi final of the cup? You have to be on a wind up!

UCD are poor without Kerrigan and Whelan. We're very capable of beating Harps or UCD IF we get to the playoff final. Galway or Longford will be very tough as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,384 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Big game tomorrow night Finn Harps vs UCD, only 3 points seperating the 2 teams in 9th/10th

If theres one team that will escape relegation its Finn Harps

Jesus that 2020 game we lost up there still hurts, a win would of got us European Football that season

  • Registered Users Posts: 187 ✭✭Deiselurker

Finn Harps beaten 3 1 by UCD so are relegated. Play off final will hopefully be a repeat of last years promotion/relegation game with a different result. We still have a couple of hurdles to get over first.

And hopefully not in the 'neutral' venue of Dublin!
