West Co Wexford, loads of flashes due south about 50 miles away, gentle rumbling, seems to be traveling north...

Thought the West would not have heavy rain certainly the largest area of rain is moving up along the West Coast at present

Best of the few tonight that were way out to sea.

Ye that's true maybe another night, August 14th was the best thundery breakdown ever, tons of lightning and extremely heavy rain

Looks like not much making it far inland so far. Tomorrow looks quite active from the early afternoon and could get a few intense storms again perhaps.

Still activity at sea off the South Coast could they push in tonight

Sporadic lightning near/just off the east coast of Wicklow now. The precipitation is really picking up pace in many parts of the country now. Would not be surprised to hear of reports of lightning in the Dublin area soon.

The area of very active thundery activity in the Bay of Biscay is stunning! It's moving north and is Ireland bound but whether it keeps electrified is quite another thing!

Not really much here in Cork City. Nothing enough to justify an Orange warning so far anyway.

Heavy rain/bucketing in Greystones. 26.0mm since midnight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,236 ✭✭✭highdef

Some fairly potent little cells popping up now in south Meath. The likes of Trim/Athboy may have some lightning strikes shortly plus some torrential rain. There's also another larger area of fairly heavy precipitation nearing the Dublin coastline. This will likely give very heavy falls of rain for eastern part of county Dublin, particularly the northern half. Lightning may also appear if it continues to intensify.

Been raining most of the night in the West and not even a yellow warning most of the rain concentrated in the West North and midlands at present

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,236 ✭✭✭highdef

Recent strikes between Trim and Athboy in County Meath. In addition, the cells over the Irish Sea are becoming electrically active now.

A couple of big active cells moving up the Irish Sea, may reach Dublin, hard to figure out the trajectory as I find the met eireann radar loop and rainfall forecast has been shocking lately, both on mobile and a brand new laptop.

This is my latest area of interest, regarding thunderstorm risk for the Dublin area.

Lightning activity getting closer to the SE/E coast now. Would expect to hear some distant thunder soon if it was not for the noise of the rain and sea!
