Nice big flash of lightning followed by thunder herein Loughlinstown, have a feeling the next couple of hours are going to be interesting

Attempt #112 over the last few years for a storm to healthily make it over the Wicklow Mts. and give Dublin a proper bash. Stay tuned.

EDIT: Echo the thoughts on the MetE radar. Absolutely chronic across mutliple devices. So slow and laggy.

The thunder and lightning over Rathdrum here was very intense for about 15 minutes. Lost power a couple of times and the glass in one window made a big cracking sound. Biblical rain falling now.

Lots of thunder on the Wicklow coastline, will this magically lose all it's thunder and lightning before reaching Meath and Dublin I wonder.

On the DART just after Bray. Lots of flashing cloud and can hear the thunder over the noise of the train!

Two strikes near house, walls literally started shaking. First time I remember that happening

I'd be very concerned for the likes of Arklow and Gorey, maybe Wicklow town. Apart from the copious amounts of lightning, rain rates are at flash flood levels. The nearby mountains will not help the situation at all

Nice flash of lightning in D16 now with a loud clap of thunder

Near constant thunder and lightning with torrential rain in Newtownmountkennedy. House is rattling with the thunder.

Agree. Performance on the rainfall radar is deeply frustrating and very slow

Couple of flash and rumbles here near Ringsend

Constant thunder in Dublin 18 now, yet to see a flash but the clouds are very much alive

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭adocholiday

That major band of thunder and lightning seems to have passed the Rathdrum area now. Still raining hard but the intensity is gone out of it.

Massive boom overhead, literally sounds like the clouds ripping, never heard one so loud, brilliant stuff!

Definitely seems to be Dublin bound. In Dalkey atm and lightning/thunder close.

Lightning/thunder pretty much overhead in Dunlaoghaire.

Feels like I am storm chasing by train!

you know it’s close when you see a flash during daylight.

Getting closer now, very long rumble after what looked like a double flash but not sure it happens so quickly?
