    Brilliant from Mag and Vet.

We all thought Max would probably win but it was certainly way more of a race than what we thought it would be.

    Well done Max.

    Well done Red Bull.

For the weekend that it was, the right result.

What a finish by Vettell - great last lap with Mag !!

    Weak ass flag waving

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,394 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Tim Cook could give it a bit more enthusiasm on the flag waving at the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Great finish with Vettel and Magnussen there, lovely stuff.

    Decent race, enjoyed that.

Tim Cook/Apple is a random choice to wave the chequered flag. Waving it with great enthusiasm!

Enjoyable race for a Sunday evening. Some great racing from the elder statesmen.

Is that actually Tim Cook waving the flag or some type of robot?

    Yes Max get in!! 😊😊

Great finish with Vettel, well deserved driver of the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,233 ✭✭✭McFly85

Cracking race in the end! Really thought for a while Hamilton had it with the hard tire but there’s too much pace in that red bull. Disappointed with Ferrari in the end, for all the pace they have they eat their tires up so can really struggle in a race.

Ffs if max was behind lewis he would of been doing the same. But yeah just hate on lewis in this place just cause why not, cause you can bet a lot of you will turn on max if this dominance continues for another 2+ seasons.

Brilliant drive from max lewis and Seb. Russell not so much sainz either 😂

Jesus christ, that's a pathetic attempt at waving a flag.

Great that we got to see Vettle and Kmag at the end, I was fully expecting to see close ups of horner or Max cantering around turn 1 after crossing the line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,724 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

If it was a robot then it's no terminator. I think we're safe from judgement day for a while yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,233 ✭✭✭McFly85

If you’re going to blame anyone, blame the TV director. They all probably spend half the race complaining about other drivers but someone has to pick what to broadcast!

I swear he’s never seen a chequered flag being waved before in his life!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,724 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Mental that Alonso finished the race at all never mind in P7

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,913 ✭✭✭Hijpo

I'd like to see him get 8 consecutive WDC meself......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

The PR training that Hamilton has gotten makes him a complete robot. Always thank the crowd, always thank the team. Don't take personal praise alone, ensure you mention the team. George is the same. Makes for rubbish interviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,904 ✭✭✭✭klose

Life in the old dog in vettel, shame he's retiring as the Aston seems to be getting punchy as the season draws in, you'd fancy them to leapfrog alfa romeo now. Alonso too with an unreal drive too with a busted up car!

Great race, it really had it all! Good advertisement for the sport minus stroll being a dope.

Quite fitting that it was this grand prix that there seemed to be a lot of issues with guns.

Will shaq stand awkwardly on the podium again today? Haha

What is this rubbish? At least they don't have the winners in American football helmets..

Lec "what happened to Carlos "

    Hamilton "George took him out"

    Lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Okay, I don't mind the red bull team being in the "badillac".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,033 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

The nonsense the Americans add into a sport event , jesus christ

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,316 ✭✭✭SCOOP 64

Hamilton very popular there, not much of a roar for max on podium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Need a driver/team with better national anthems to be dominating. Could do with the Italian or French anthems, much better... The Dutch and Austrian anthems are awful dirges

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,033 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

We'll all know the Dutch national anthem off by heart by the end of the season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,353 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Great time of the year to go to Mexico.

Enjoyable race and great drive from Max.

    Great track too.

Alonso car deemed unsafe. 30 second time penalty. Drops to 15th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,571 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Haas appealed both Alonso and Perez on the basis that their cars were unsafe, and Haas got called on Magnussen so many times this season. Sucks for Alonso, but seems fair. That mirror was bouncing like mad for quite a while. If perez's front wing bit that fell off had stayed on for longer, he would have likely been pinged too.

Consistency is key, can't have one rule for the top teams and another for the lower teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,277 ✭✭✭✭flazio

IMO, unsafe cars should be brought down heavy and, to quote the man himself, 30 second penalty is a joke. Unsafe car should equal disqualification. I appreciate that a demotion to 15th is the same effect on the championship, but it might encourage a top team to "chance it" in order to salvage points.

How did Perez get away with it but Alonso and Haas get penalised? Perez wing was flapping about for ages before it eventually fell off.

Talk about double standards! 'No Michael that it so not right' springs to mind here again.

If Red Bull get a sweet heart deal on the budget cap breach then there will he uproar and serious consequences for the creditibility of the sport.

I enjoyed that movie race. Feel sorry for Carlos. Hamilton is definitely improving, another master class from Max. A well deserved championship for RedBull. Max is head and shoulders above the rest, in a league of his own.

The threats of serious consequences have been hanging over the sport for various things for years now but if RB defend their finances when the FIA changed the guidelines after the fact then all hell will break loose?

Nothing is going to happen, relax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Russell got away with the same thing so you can take off the tin foil hat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,516 ✭✭✭recyclebin

Hardly a tin foil hat when the big teams get away with it and then Haas and Alpine get punished for the exact same things.

Alonso deserved serious recognition for finishing in the points after that shunt, but instead gets punished.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,033 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

In fairness a mirror is a big piece and was flapping around for a long time, so that wasn't safe so it's why he got a 10 second stop go penalty but couldn't serve it so ended up being a 30 second penalty. Checos front wing was still mechanically safe and likewise with Russell so that's why they escaped penalties. The fact Alonso got a 10 second stop go for a broken mirror and Russell got a 5 second penalty for hitting another driver yet again and taking him out of the race is ridiculous

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,655 ✭✭✭weisses

Stroll getting 3 places grid penalty for that ridiculous move on Alonso ... he should have been DQ for next race imho
