I am looking to claim my money back through the small claims court?

    All you have to do is go to your local courthouse and fill in a form with the court clerk. You don't need a solicitor.

    Thanks for reply, tayto lover.

    I think a problem I might have is that this "building" company is not on the CRO website, as in I don't think its registered.

    So I am finding bit hard to put the exact name/details on the form.

    I think I have his home address but I am not 100% sure. I am going to put the company name and his name on the form and use his personal address.

    Really annoying how some "builders" treat people.

    If you were dealing with a company (registered in Ireland) it will be on the CRO website. As will a registered business name.

    Otherwise you are dealing with a Sole Trader. You will need the individuals name and address he is residing at. You may need to make enquires in the locality to establish these.

    They can but if they are not sure who to file the claim against then it will be rejected if they get that part wrong. If the company is not registered then they are probably conducting business as a sole trader. so you would name them in the claim and not the "company" name. the key word being probably. The OP could do a cro search for the persons name and see if they are listed as a director of any companies.

    The CRO have emailed me back saying that the company is not listed on their site, and have asked me for their name, to see if they can try check if they can help me that way.
