Reg plates are irrelevant. I had several non movers removed from my street by Fingal Co Co and all had reg plates. Used Fix My Street and they were usually gone within a day or two.

Answer to second question is Yes. A vehicle history check will show if a vehicle has been reported stolen.

Extremely lazy councils say all sorts of stuff. It's more that they will definitely be interested in a vehicle with no plates rather than the plates being some magic protector

If the tax is out they should tow it. Kildare will either do it or fob you off to AGS depending what mood they're in

I had a similar one, needed a car outside our house removed as it had sat there for months (albeit legally, taxed, insured, etc) but the wheels were all flat, etc.

Called the Garda station who got in touch with the owner asking to move it.

They said if he didn't, they could organise a tow truck to move it. Where or how far, I am not sure. But they were very helpful.

Yes, I should have clarified that the cars I had requested to be removed were long out of tax. I've my eye on two more which are untaxed and haven't moved for over a year or more. Might be a little more complicated as I know who owns them. He has about 10 vehicles scattered around several streets.

No, he's not a dealer but just seems to have an interest in cars over 20/30 years old. The problem is that he doesn't do them up or look after them so they deteriorate rapidly especially as it right beside the sea. One is a lovely XJ8 Jag which has moss/algae all over it.

The scrap dealer on Fosterstown North near Swords used to block the cycle track with his cars .One time I asked the Gardai why they can't be towed away and they said that it would play into his hands. He left them there hoping they'd be removed. Seems like a lazy attitude all the same as they could be towed away and the scrap dealer invoiced for them.

We had one in our estate last year reported many times didnt get removed until someone put a block through the back window.

Feck him, the public streets are not a suitable storage place for his untaxed private property, it'd serve him right if they're towed.

In a shopping centre car park, I walked around, roughly 50% of cars with expired tax / NCT.

I think that problem with the NCT wait is now gone though thankfully.
