Big front page headline story on the Irish Mail on Sunday - about an unnamed TD who allegedly was grooming underage teenagers and using fake social media profiles etc.

The article had screenshots of alleged conversations between this unnamed TD and underage children online.

the paper says that when this came to light a few month ago, the unnamed party withdrew the whip from the TD but he still features on their website and still on committees.

Very little coverage of it so far.

Anyone know why the like of RTÉ Havnt covered it?

It’s a fairly significant story surely.

Because if RTE were to publish an unsubstantiated story about an unnamed politician that smeared them, and their unnamed party, with an accusation like this, people would be screaming blue murder about their political biases and lack of journalistic standards.

It's generally public knowledge. Plus, the whole point of removing the whip in this context is to distance the party from the TD so that the party does not get smeared by association. That point is kind of frustrated if nobody knows that the party has withdrawn the whip

the previous causal dismissal of child sex abuse in this country is a stain on us all.

These are unfounded allegations with the potential to ruin innocent people’s lives. I’m sure the gardai are pleased to hear that “victims” are talking to the gutter press while they are trying to investigate.

until such time as a person is being tried for whatever the allegations are, I prefer to listen carefully to reports from the court case and when the verdict is in, then and only then can we pass judgement.

Why are you so keen to know who the allegations are about? You have no idea wether or not there’s any substance to the allegations? Do you not believe in the concept of innocent until proven guilty?

Ah I see who it is now. Hopefully if true he will face justice. I hope it doesn't turn into another well known name shifting the blame back on the victim.
