On replay, I actually think Hansen landed on his head. Not sure what the referee saw to say he landed on his back.

Bottle call, that's a red...he absolutely drove him down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭Shehal

Probably the best result as Ireland seem to really struggle playing against 14 players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,360 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

    Absolutely should be a red

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,331 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

thought that should have been a red

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,415 ✭✭✭jammiedodgers

Should have been a red and a yellow. Refs cop out as usual

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,469 ✭✭✭✭ednwireland

thats deliberate from kolbe he readjusted his grip to drive him over red all day long

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

The whole bollocks of 'reds ruining games' is completely taking over everything here.

The need to use slow motion cameras to try and find some tiny excuse to mitigate foul play down is taking the piss now.

Ireland need to make SA suffer for that injustice.

    Yes, the driving action….

but the commentary from the ref from the initial viewpoint suggests he was angling not to ‘want’ to issue a red. Talking over the touch judge quite aggressively. Bogey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,360 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Yeah they were all looking for cover from each other

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,230 ✭✭✭A-Train

Ireland are just too slow today. Great hit on Keenan for the turn over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,536 ✭✭✭touts

    Ref bottled it. 100% Red.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,276 ✭✭✭✭JRant

Don't know about that call. The initial one looked like a player on his feet scooped the ball back and that one on Sexton is harsh.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,430 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Ah I dunno, we've responded to the shooters 4 times out of 5.

    We'll be grand.

Murray takes that extra second or so to get pass away ,he has to wind it up, made a difference for that attack where keegan was tackled

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

    Jesus what was that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,360 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Echoes of the BOD spear, both players better be cited after this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Been counter rucked off our own ball twice now.

We desperately need to sort that out quickly. It killed us last night against the NZ 15.

Doris is having a monster game.

Keep getting very lucky with penalties on the line, we can't keep counting on them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,718 ✭✭✭Gusser09

That music during the breaks in play is shocking.

Poor game all in all. Ref doing well. Could have been red but yellow probably correct.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

Boks were amazing for that 10 min sin bin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭Shehal

We need to counter this pressure, if we keep making mistakes and allowing SA to impose their game this wont end well for us.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,276 ✭✭✭✭JRant

This SA pack are already starting to blow hard here. Hold on for another 5 and I think we'll start coming into this game more.

McCloskey has been immense. Clear turn over by Ryan missed there just on the edge of the SA 22.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Stu is done here I think

  • Posts: 0 ✭✭✭✭ Aubrielle Nutritious Nectar

We can't really handle their linespeed. We need to stop flinging it across the backline imo, need to kick for distance.

    And that's really **** for McCloskey :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

Ah real pity for Stu he was brilliant, JOB totally different type of player

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,142 ✭✭✭fitz

Man, that's terrible luck for McCloskey

Poor McCloskey. Started the game so well.

Now we've very little physicality in the midfield. Dunno what we do in the centres.

Looks like Ringrose to 12 and JOB to 13?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,430 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Bollix. The best player of the 26 minutes.

  • Posts: 0 ✭✭✭✭ Aubrielle Nutritious Nectar

I really think JOB is a quality player but this is a big, big ask.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

Brutal for McCloskey. He was going really well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,230 ✭✭✭A-Train

    Poor Stu

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,360 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

    Dislocation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭Shehal

Bang out of luck when all 3 top centres you have are unavailable...

Fan of Jimmy O'Brien but this isn't the position we wanted him coming into. Especially given how well McCloskey was going.

That's a real loss - very disappointing on many fronts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 392 ✭✭Sephiral

Gonna get overrun in midfield. Stu was slowing down their ball carrying constantly.

Our reticence to make aggressive tackles deep in their half is puzzling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭Shehal

Prefer it the other way round, 13 is the hardest position to defend so last thing we need is a debutant players to fill it in after an injury replacement.

Murray has been inaccurate. Passing poor, kicking not it's usual pinpoint self. Sexton also not quite as his best, very physical play from him but passing hasn't been as crisp.

    Ryan and Doris unreal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

James Ryan swung an arm with a closed fist a few seconds ago at a ruck. No connection but it doesn't look good.

    He needs to be careful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭cuttingtimber22

Murray has been excellent defensively. Another back rower.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭Shehal

Murray is delivering what he has delivered all season. By starting him today Murray has essentially been encouraged to keep doing that.

Was trying to free himself, was being held by SA player acting the arse.

So much **** pass by us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's great work from Sheehan despite the knockon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

Ireland without quick ball are very ordinary, but suppose that goes for all teams . However Murray is killing us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

Yeah I know. Its just a closed fist always looks bad and a referee can take offense to it very easily.
