Didn’t even get past the holding page but another member of our group in the UK got our tickets.😀

No joy for our group, stuck in holding page purgatory. Spring re-sale it is so.

Got past the holding page AFTER they were all gone. Well sh1t.

No luck here. Oh well.. We go again in the resale! Don't give up. A few here, including myself got them last year in the resale.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,218 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Me and group are sorted. One of the girls got through a good 10 or 15 mins after they said it was sold out. Absolute madness, too much for a sunday morning.

Stuck refreshing holding page on 2 laptops for nearly an hour.

Finally got through after they announced that they'd sold out. Kept going and then had an error telling me that the security code was wrong. Reentered it twice before I realised that it was the expiry date that was wrong. Put in correct date and bagged 3 tickets for myself, daughter and brother.

    Delighted.

No luck here. Its the hope when you reach the holding page that kills you. Will not give up though, resale it is. Will make it to the hallowed ground of Glastonbury some day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,218 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Resale in April! I think it'll be easier this year because they jacked the price up quite a bit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,809 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

I got through the the details confirmed page and hit proceed to go to the payment page and then it crashed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,218 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Yeah that was happening a lot as per usual with Seetickets infrastructure bursting at the seams, it's a pity they can't use a different ticketing company. I got on to the holding on a tablet connected to my phone hotspot but never saw the ticket page. My desktop connected to the house wifi got zilch as usual. I'm convinced it works better on a mobile connection, every year people seem to have better luck that way.

Had a wedding that weekend and thought I was happy to give it a miss but after my friends got tickets major FOMO set in. As much as I ranted about it above, it really is a great festival

I didn't get through myself, but tickets sorted for me by others. :)

18 out of 24 got tickets.

Oour group had no joy either. Disappointed but not a lot you can do

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,809 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

The least disappointed Ive ever been not getting tickets. Loved parts of this year but was far too busy. If thats the standard from now on Ill be going the odd year as opposed to every year. Assuming I can get tickets obviously.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭traco

Last year was our first and loved it, didn't have an issue with the numbers as I had no previous experience with it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,218 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Last year definitely felt busier. But if you like live music and festivals there isn't anything else quite like it. Next year will be my 5th on the trot and I'll try for tickets every year, I plan to keep going for as long as possible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,907 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Last year was my sixth.. and was ready to call it quits...

.. and then just when I thought I was out..

    Ye probably know the rest!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,809 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

Yeah even at £335 its incredible value for money. Ill be trying in the resale but wont be quite as devestated as Id imagine I wouldve been in previous years. Ive never not got a ticket.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

I found last year though. Couple of years off and one of us had a flag (he can carry it himself totally if we ever get tickets again. Spent too long waiting for an (dare I say it) underwhelming McCartney. Plus, I got rubbish earplugs with a little hard insert in them. Was afraid that they would damage my ears so kept waking up. Due to some trees and hedges being cut, could hear every bit of Arcadia as if it was just near us.

Will still try for resale and upset we didn't get tickets but not as upset as I would have been earlier.

I am happy that so many here got them though. Congrats

Macca was one of the best evenings of my life. Not to be too dramatic!

But yeah, found myself just idle some of the time. All the food stalls I wanted to eat from were too busy all the time, all the little quirky bits of the site were rammed, was too busy just to nip up to the Park and back to the West Holts or wherever quickly because it could take hours if you got stuck at pinch points etc. Just far too busy. Maybe it was a post covid thing and they'll add a little more space and facilities next time.

I felt the same. I think once you've been a few times it takes the sting out of not getting tickets, I thought we hadn't got them this year because we had nothing when Emily and Seetickets tweeted that it was over, and I was ok with it. I'd like to see what it's like to work or volunteer at the fest and go for a full week, I will try it if I fail at getting tickets which will surely happen eventually.

Mate of mine worked last year at it. Shifts were grim. 5pm to midnight stuff. I wouldn't bother personally.

On a positive note though I've got resale tickets 5 times I think. 2013, 14, 16, 17 and this year.

Although luck is due to run out.

Most of the volunteering shifts wouldn't be that bad from what I've heard over the years, more like one headliner evening/ night shift, one silly o'clock in the morning shift and a shift during setup or closedown days... But not the same every day meaning that you miss most things.

I guess if you are getting paid for it rather than just the free entry then they can give you crappier hours.

No luck on our side this morning! First time ever not securing a ticket in the October sale. Got to the registration page three times but the page just spun and spun once "Proceed" was clicked.

Must say it's an awful feeling although I agree with the comments above that the disappointment is probably somewhat reduced having been to the festival four times.

Will try again in April. Not getting tickets today does make the logistics a little more awkward as we always book a campervan/ferry etc.

Congrats to all who got tickets today and especially to those going for the first time. It's the greatest festival on the planet!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,218 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

I think with Oxfam anyway it's usually 3 6 or 8 hour shifts. One will be on weds / thurs and then the other 2 at the weekend one of which will be in the evening 4 - 12 or something so you'll miss a headliner. I think it would be doable, plus you get to stay in a campsite with showers.

Go for it MadYaker, another great way to meet like minded people. And once you are in and have gained their trust you might get more advance work in the future when you can enjoy a full weekend and no more ticket lottery sh1te. I've a nice wee number with EP these days and would love to work Glasto, but my loyalties lie with Body&Soul festival which is usually the weekend before and has sometimes clashed with it too.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I'll definitely go for it when I eventually fail at getting tickets

I get that, but you really should ditch B&S for just one year and send an email to Oxfam or some of the other organisations that hire volunteers outlining your experience and if you could get references from the organisers of B&S and EP you would definitely get something, maybe even paid work. It'd be worth it I think, unless it would mean losing your spot at B&S.

Got sorted for the first time since 2011 and the funny thing is my internet at home is at its worst in all the time trying , I am down to dial up speeds with my 3 connection but managed to get sorted almost straight away.

So now that the excitement has settled I am looking at the logistics, we are bringing our 13 year old daughter so have a full price ticket for her, I am considering hiring a camper and aiming for the family friendly camper park. Has anyone ever hired a camper from Ireland and taken it accross, I see most hires are for a week and pretty expensive but feck it we may as well make it the family holiday next year and I am thinking you get to bring all you need in one go.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,097 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Don't know about campervan hire, but you don't need to worry about aiming for family fields. It's all pretty similar where ever you end up. Have been taking my kid since they were a month old and just parked up wherever we got put and didn't make any difference. Camping with another family with young kids one year and think we were directed towards the family campervan fields, but honestly didn't notice any difference.

I started going in camper vans and then gave up. Very expensive and its a lottery what field you end up in. Gave up after we landed in field E17, a 25 minute walk to the entrance gate. Good 40 minute walk to the Pyramis Stage. Nah.

A decent tent is the way forward.
